  1. Been a long time since I operated a crane, probably 20 years or more, but I got the red alligator in only 4 tries at Wal-Mart today. 20 years ago it only cost a quarter, now it's twice that. I guess 2 dollars for a red alligator ain't bad though. I really wanted the Cartman but I knew there was no way-i've seen them pack those machines before,so I went for the easiest looking item.

Then I came home and canned these pepper rings.Got a lot of jalapeno peppers from my Dad's garden yesterday and Otherdog went too.Wasn't gonna make any more hot sauce because I still got some of last years left, but I figured 4 jars of hot pepper rings would last me a year or more so I made more anyway to use the peppers up. We use the pepper rings on nachos a lot.I like nachos, but not the kind like you get at 7-11 with the melted cheese. They gotta be hand built...takes a little time, but not much. A friend of mine from Texas told me how to make nachos-put your chips on a baking pan,put a piece of longhorn cheese on each one, then top it with a jalapeno pepper ring and just broil it until the cheese melts.Very easy, and great with a cold beer.

  2. Mornin' Tom.

What's up with that RD600 steelnose 10 wheeler in your post?

    .

It was at the same jobsite in Sharon. It's owned by Swank construction. Swank must be pretty big,I see them working all around in that area, even down on 79 near Pittsburgh.

  3. Me and the g/f washed the B yesterday p.m. for the first time since I bought it a year ago. The tires and mudflaps were pretty grimmy and did not get the items cleaned yet. I normally use Greased Lightning for all of the grimmy stuff, and make sure you use a brush with some armstrong behind it. It worked very well for me a few weeks ago when I was cleaning my pre-filter on the B engine. Clean with soap and water then use your favorite de-greaser then always let it stand for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing off. Then I use the Armor-all to make it shine. I bought some de-greaser several weeks ago that is very strong if you have a Northern Tool Store. It's called Mojo for truck cleaning. It works great too but has a strange odor.

all these work good.I bought a small bottle of "Mean Geen" cleaner for a dollar out of the discounted items bin at Newcomerstown Truckstop a while back, and now I wish i'd bought all they had at that price. It worked really good, even dissolved the gunk off the fuel tanks.

  4. I want those stickers, where I can buy some?

Might have to have your own printed. The guy that letters the trucks where I work can make a decal of anything on the computer.I saw the woman hazardous sign on 700WLW's website,Scott Sloan's blog, and the trackhoe was at a jobsite I delivered to in Sharon,PA.

  5. For an update, well I'm not getting married and me and the gf broke up...The best thing to ever happen! Only thing I plan to marry now is a truck! :thumb::mack1: Oh yeah I just started college a week ago going for a management degree and going for a degree in management is my true calling because it's a piece of cake and I love doing business homework!

Hi Double L,ain't heard from you for a long time. Sorry about the gf not working out,but glad you're doing well in your other endeavors.

  6. ...So - the moral of the story is - Be careful that you get all of the mice out of the truck.

Maybe if you put yourself in a position of really needing the Irish Spring so bad that you couldn't stand yourself................ Hey - it's a thought.

    Paul Van Scott

I thought the Irish Spring smelled so good i've been using it ever since. The only think I don't like is that I miss the old gear oil smell the truck used to have.

  7. I'm alittle surprised you guys haven't brought up the much needed vegetable " The RAMP " it is an east Tennessee onion. Joe you could have told them about the ramp festival held in your location each year. It would be great with what Rob is fixing. It goes with anything to help flavor it.

    mike

I've had ramps before. I asked Joe about them once and I don't think he'd ever heard of them. Every little town in West Virginia has a ramp festival in the spring, they're crazy about them up there. I thought they were OK, just scrambled in eggs with crumbled up fatback, but I wouldn't travel out of my way to get them.

  8. Purchased old superliner, setting for approx 5 years. I know there's mice. I'm sure someone has encountered this. Any ideas to drive(no pun intended) them out. Don't want to bring truck in garage to work on before dealing with problem. I have brand new shop and don't want it infested.

that was my first question here on BMT. Several people suggested shaving chips off a bar of Irish Spring soap and sprinkling it around inside the cab. Seemed to work for me. Some Bounce dryer sheets would probably work too.

  9. Be careful about eating those in the yard. They have not been tested and certified "fit for human consumption" by anyone. Unlike my prepared dishes which are tested, and tasted by myself and certified "delicious, and nutritious" and rightfully deserving of the "dish of the year" Blue Ribbon, you may never know what those mushrooms have been exposed to. They are a Fungus after all.

Be careful there, sure wouldn't want you to get sick or anything like that.

    Rob

oh, I wouldn't eat those odd looking orange mushrooms in the yard-I just eat the ones growing in the compost pile

But a true mushroom story-I used to haul chips and pulpwood from Buckingham,Va. to Westvaco in Covington. Rt. 60 west of Amherst goes across the mountains and a couple of guys that lived up that way,one in Amherst and the other in Lexinton, both said they would go out in the woods after it rained and get mushrooms from under poplar trees. They said that was the only time you could find them, after it rained, and only under poplar trees. Both said they were delicious fried.

  10. If the mirror bracket isn't grounded, how do I ground the antennas? Would a magnetic mount to the top of the cab work better?

What's odd is that when I have the key on 'accessory' there's almost no static, but as soon as I turn it to on there's a ton of static.

If you have a steel cab grounding shouldn't be a problem. I had a fiberglass cab and just ran a fairly heavy gauge wire from the antenna mounting bracket to a good ground under the hood somewhere. It didn't help my situation any.

  11. You're not allergic or anything like that to mushrooms are you? I can alter the proportions to accomodate if need be for you.

    Rob

No,not to my knowledge anyway.I like mushrooms in pasketti sauce and on pizza. In fact,I saw some in the yard this morning...

  12. I drove a T800 that did the same thing-the more things you turned on,like lights, heater,AC,etc. the worse it got.It was the first truck I drove with electronic/computer control. If the antanae ground doesn't work you can buy a noise reducer thing that goes between the coax and the radio at any CB shop.I don't know what you call it so I call it a "noice reducer thing".

  13. Yepper. Got the rolling "meat locker" out of storage. Was headed down to the river as the fish aint a bitin due to the cool weather, so a fisherman had to dynamite them, and got more than he bargained for. The state hi-way that runs alongside the bank was covered with fish chunks so I get called to clean it up. After grabbin my new aluminum scoop shovel, truck and drivin down there, I was able to scrape up much needed fish parts for a new batter that I been workin on. There was so many fish parts that I spent great effort of about 1/2 hour scraping them up. I just hate when things go to waste.

It only got to about 80 degrees today so pretty sure nothing spoiled in the back of the truck. Plan to unload today and I'll let you know how the batter turns out.

    Rob

    thanks-I can hardly wait.
