Another word of wisdom - great job in choosing the people you trust to do your measuring. Some B-53 owners have brains that are far beyond the capabilities of most normal people.

I even have some difficulty with normal daily functions. Reading a tape measure may be out of the question.

Never heard of Creeces and now you know Tom I've eaten black eyed peas and greens. C'mon now you know I got some Virginia blood in me. Now the thing with the (In my best Virginia accent) black eyed peas you got to add in some stew tomata and some sugah to give it a sweet flavor. I like my greens with ham chunks in them and pieces of bacon and soaked in vinegar. You can't have greens without them being soaked in vinegar and you can't forget the corn bread to complete it. Speaking of vinegar I like to slice up cucumber, tomato, and onion and put it in a bowl and add a bit of vinegar to it along with salt and pepper and let it soak an hour or two in the fridge. Speaking of fish (Rainbow Trout or Catfish)I like mine fried with some Texas Pete hot sauce.

I know some good eating when I see it, it's already bad enough I got a Illinois/Virginia accent going on.

As far as a New Year's tradition I like to have a little alcohol such as Crown Royal.

Speaking of alcohol, which I know nothing about, I was in the liquor store the other day and noticed Crown Royal was about the same price as Jim Beam, (my usual). Musta been on sale, I thought it was way higher.

I've seen other "traditions" for New Years celebration. Worst one I ever tried was "Pickled Herring". I don't really care for fish all that much and this may not have been prepared correctly cause I wasn't to only one that said something was wrong.

Never have tried it again.

I like fish, but prefer it battered and fried, or grilled. Never tried any pickled herring. Them little tiny fishes in a can are good on a saltine though.

I guess it's a southern tradition, i'm not sure. We always had them on New Years day when I was growing up. Dale Earnhardt Jr. said they always had to have black eyed peas and greens on New Years day too. Didn't sound like he was particularly fond of them. I like 'em both. Used to grow black eyed peas in the garden, back when I had plenty of space.

I don't know if they grow in Illinois, but they probaby do. A corn field (hint-hint), after the corn was picked was usually a good place to find them. It's easy to tell where they were in the spring. Then they grow up to seed and have yellow flowers on them. Much harder to find before they do, but usually if you find some there'll be lots of them in one place. They're common in the south.

you should see "attachments" right under your post. right under that you'll see a box with "browse". click "browse" and you should be able to access any pictures on your PC. Right click on the picture and when another window opens just click "select". The file name will appear in the space beside the "browse" button. Then just click the "attach this file" box. Wait for the symbol indicating it's finished, then click "add reply" and that's it. You might want to resize big pictures first, as they take a long time to post and download.

I'm ready- got the black eyed peas and greens. Black eyed peas are supposed to bring luck in the new year, and the greens money. So I got 2 cans of greens.

Actually I had only seen canned creeces at one other store around here, and that was in Appomattox. Found these yesterday at the local store 2 miles from here. We used to go out and cut our own, when you could find them. They're my favorite, but kind of hard to come by. They grow flat on the ground and we'd take an old knife and cut them off level at the ground, put them in a sack, and bring them home and try to get all the dirt off before you cooked them. A huge pot of them will cook down to a little bit, but they're mighty tasty cooked with some seasoning meat (hog jowls for New Years), a few potatoes, and topped with chopped onion and vinegar.

Anybody besides DoubleL ever eaten these?

Except for a radiator that's where all my Peterbilt problems have been- the C-15 engine. When I take it up here to Cat in Lynchburg it looks like F.L.M. has opened a terminal there because there's usually several more trucks there too. Every time I leave i'm wondering when the engine light's gonna come on. I drove many trucks with the N14 and didn't worry about a thing. Then the ISX comes along, and it's back and forth to Cummins because of EGR issues. Had to go all the way to Roanoke to Cummins, maybe that's partly why they went to Cat power. As we've heard here, Mack has their problems too.

But, as i've said before, I don't blame the engine manufacturers. When they get something pretty much perfected, like the N14, they have to change it to meet new emissions standards and it's a never ending battle.

Is there someone that is singled out and picked on besides me here? I thought I read every post but I guess I've missed some.

i would like to retire it so i can restore it one day but cant aford to sence coal busines arround here is so slow. cant even find a haul for it now. evereone has under cut the haul bills no one can make any money. thanks joe

Wish i'd bought them now, could have resold the cab and had a spare trans.

cain't- scanner quit working about the same time the webcam did. I can still print, and make copies of documents, and send the copy via the United States Postal Service though.

come to think of it- I have a printer,scanner,copier- but no fax machine. guess you'll have to run the tape measure yourself.

Bill just sent me an e-mail about some videos he was sending and I asked him if he got the message. He did not, because he doesn't have Live Messenger anymore. Next thing you know, he called. He said you might try a program called "your uninstaller 2008 pro". He said that's what his computer doctor reccomended to him, and it'll clean everything out. He did not know if they had a free version or a sample. Might be worth checking out.

I'm proud of myself too there Rob, I already rounded up a flash light in anticipation of Other Dog needing one.

Hey Rob, did you ever consider adding a spacer block under the spring? Even on todays new trucks they use them to level out the truck.

I don't, i'm going broke fast! However, the N14 is a great engine. More than I can say about a C-15 Cat ACCERT, another p.o.s.

It's about 25 here and snowing with expected accumulation of 3" through the day.

I've been told, but do not know, the spring boxes are different on a 67 series, but no knowlege first hand. That's why you will need to take them apart and save me the pain and effort of the aforementioned items.

OK, I have another ideer- hey Paul...got a minute?

Tell you what, I know that B53 springs are the same length as B61's, so after you unbolt the front spring boxes/perches under the mixer and relay the correct end to end length of the sping with the weight off measurment to me, I'll follow suit.

I can't get to the B61 yet cause it's about a foot deep in a snow drift and if I were to lay in that snow, it would melt. Then my ass cheeks would become wet and chap. Then we would have whole nother set of problems to deal with. Besides that, the moisture may take some of my sweetness away.

I could wrap myself in the rubber sheets we use during the summer routing my profuse sweating along with drainage of various bodily fluids that disallows permeation of our underlying bedding appliances, but it is uncomfortable in the winter due to lack of flexibility.

Knowing the reliabiltity factor of a Pete, and taking this information into account; I know you have time available to help with my project.

How about if we just measure the spring hangers instead of doing all that? I'm not too worried about melting here, it's 21 degrees-perfect for laying outside under a truck.

Does anybody know if the front springs from a B61 will fit under a B67? Looking for length, not capacity on this one. My latter has a 1-5/8ths lean on the driver side while setting on the shop floor. The driver's side sping is almost flat, while the passenger side retains a positive arch.

I don't mind buying new springs if needed but my "Yella Dog" has known good springs under the front.

take a tape measure and measure the B-61 springs, then measure the B-67 springs. If the dimensions are the same then yes, they will fit.

Just wondering,what's the current used worth of an RT12513?

I have one that the owner wants me to sell,but I don't have a clue what it'd be worth. The shifter's gone,but it's been covered,and looks clean and shiny inside. It was in a running,operating truck until the truck was rolled and they parted it rather than fixing it,about 8 years ago. It was stored inside a van trailer,covered up.

I found 1 place that had used trans. prices listed, but they only had the RTO12513 listed. Whether it's worth more, less, or the same as the RT I don't know, but it was $1350 used, $1750 reconditioned, $2000 rebuilt. Also a 12515 was $1200 at another used parts place, so that might give you a ballpark idea.

could be as simple as a weak spring. the throttle spring on the '77 I drove worked backwards from what you would think-if it broke, which mine did twice, it would run wide open. I put a rubber strap on it along with the spring, just for extra "insurance" in case the spring decided to break again in a bad spot, like coming down the mountain with a load of chips.

I'll have to seek entrepreneur dollars, (i.e. government grant monies funded by the little people that pay taxes) to further investigate the feasibility of using bleed air from either APU's, or DPF's new trucks must have, to boil off and evaporate amonium concentrate refrigerant used to chill a temperature reducing vessel/chamber to form ice used for cooling brakes. Of course the preliminary research invested into this new technology adds nearly 1250 pounds total weight to the average automotive conveyance, but being a completely self contained and hermetically sealed system, lt is deemed safe for use by my close buds, the "Greenies". As a second vehicle for implementation it could be downsized, and as a safety item be mandated for usage on all passenger carrying vehicles.

All in the name of saving "Gods Green Earth", and protecting ourselves, from ourselves, you know.
