  1. We'll have Rowdy stick an RFID tag on your truck so we can have a www.wheresdoublel.com for realtime updates on your location and collision avoidance.

 ...now that's funny right there

  2. Mike Gully has a pretty sound company, you could do alot worse than working for him, even if they don't run any Macks.

I don't know anything about the company but he likes old trucks, is an ATHS member, and has several restored trucks of his own- so I like him!

  3. I see them with aluminum wheels way more often than without.

I think I need to buy another camera to keep in the truck with me...I see some picture worthy stuff fairly often too, but the camera on the phone sucks. Maybe I should buy an I-Phone...or is it I-Fone...or is it Eye-Phone?

I have a Kyocera phone with a camera, but I seldom use it. I always use my trusty Kodak digital camera.

  4. I remember the first model truck I made. It was a cabover Freightliner in the early '70s. I actually got it for my brother for Christmas but I put it together.

You can't find model kits around here anywhere. K-Marts and Wal-Marts used to have them but I haven't seen any lately. Guess you have to find a hobby shop, eh?

I do have a few diecast models that I bought.

  5. Unless you drive a Pete for a living, (in between repair spells). Then you NEED an air ride cab. What else is there to cushion the ride when all the air is out of the seat to sit on the floor?????

Well...anyhow, I put a lap belt on the driver's seat in the mixer. Whenever somebody rides with me I strap in and say "if we turn over you're on your own".

  6. ...reminds me of the one where the man goes into the bar and orders 12 martinis. Can't tell it for fear of getting banned though. I'll just tell the punch line- he said "no, that's ok- if twelve of them won't kill the taste, i'm sure 13 won't". good one, eh?

  7. You can fix it if you like. Click the edit button at the bottom of your original post, then click "use full editor". It will open a window that allows you to change the title of the post.

Fortunately, "most" people on here drive Mack trucks and can ascertain your meaning in the title, so it's no problem. LOL.

Good job on the website and do keep us posted.

    Rob

yeah...we be smart too. driving a Mack actually makes you smart. Larry is double smart 'cause he drives a Mack AND stays at Holiday Inn Express periodically.

  8. I'm always looking for old trucks during my travels. I spotted these 3 B-models near Auburn, Al. last week when I was on the way to Mobile. Too bad the 4-wheeler obstructed my view when I got a picture this week. Then about 10 miles or so east of Montgomery I saw at least 3 bullnose KW's. I didn't get a picture because I was unprepared, but found them on Google Earth's street view. They look to be complete and unrestored.

I also saw a mashed Peterbilt, and a nice looking Pete with the track vehicle on the trailer.

I don't know what the military vehicle is, but it's a cool looking truck and i've seen dozen's of them on the road lately.

  9. Now you all see what breathing paint fumes does to a guy long term..... Fantacizes kissing other guys, dreaming of patting them good night on the ass??? What is wrong with us paint sniffing people????

    Rob

maybe you should give one of those mask things with a filter in it a try, before it's too late... Just a thought.

  10. Tom, Next time you go to Foley, AL try to eat at Lambert's the resturant called the Home of Thrown rolls. It's an all you can eat. They come around the tables constantly asking if you want the food they have in stock pots. Their is another Lambert's in Sisksten, MO. Me and another of my pilot friends flew the Arrow to Sisksten several years ago about 5p.m. getting back about 8p.m.......Your picture of the battleship reminded me several years ago of a visit to Mobile to see a WW2 pilot friend that told us the best fish resturant around was the FISH HOUSE under the bridge about where you took this picture. A great place to stay in Mobile is in Fairhope, south of the bay called the "Grand" it is a Marriott Resort. I've stayed their back in 2007.

    mike

Thanks Mike, i'll remember that if I go there again. There's plenty of places to pull over and park all along where I took that picture. I didn't of course because I didn't have time. Had to be in Foley by 3 o'clock to load. Got there at 2, time to spare, but not a lot to spare. About 5 minutes after I got to Azek Building Materials 2 more trucks came in to load. Good place to load, I just hate where i'm going.

I might have seen Lambert's on tv before. I remember seeing some restaurant on the Travel Channel where they throw the rolls to you.

  11. I've got an Astatic mic on my cb, the mic isn't very old...a few months at most. When I use it it the coil spring just below the mic feels like it shocks my hand or burns it. Why is that? Is the mic bad or the radio?

hmmmm...I use an Astatic too...never had any problems. Is the spring shorted on a wire or anything?

  12. Other Dog- did you take in a parade? beads? tata's?pics of tata's?

unfortunately I did not see any boobage. There's lots of boobage to be seen at flashyourrack.com though.

I did see planes, trains, and automobiles. Even a battleship- the USS Alabama in Mobile. First extended hood locomotive i've seen. Plane was over I-285 in Atlanta. Gibson's truck parts is in Cowpens, S.C. I've seen B-models and H-models there from 85 but I haven't had time to stop and look around yet.

  13. reminds me of a song-

"it's the second week of deer camp,

and all the guys are here-

we drink, play cards, and shoot the bull but never shoot no deer.

The only time we leave the camp is when we go for beer-

the second week of deer camp-the greatest time of year!"

  14. Tom, since you ran all the way to Mobile this week, twice even....ya might want to sleep over at Rob's new hunting camp.

just trying help those tired dawgs :D

    mike

it's a long ride down I-85 from Petersburg. 836 miles to the state port in Mobile. Had to lay over in Montgomery Tuesday night to load sand in Elmore Wednesday.

Was late getting unloaded Tuesday because of Mardi Gras-truck control was closed at the port because it was "Fat Tuesday" and we couldn't get escorts. There was 3 of us there and none of us had a twic card, and you can't get into the ports without a twic card or an escort. We found a driver there with a twic card and he took our loads in and unloaded them for us.We dropped our trailers and took all the chains off but 2 and he took them in for $40 cash- not bad really, the escorts charge $35 an hour anyway.

I was last to get unloaded, so I ended up laying over. Unloaded the sand in Seaford, Va. about lunchtime Thursday and was happy to get another load to Mobile- I was thinking Monday delivery. But nooooo, it had to deliver Friday and by the time I left Petersburg Thursday it was 5 pm. No more sand Friday, so I had to go to Foley, Al. Friday evening and load building materials going to Phoenixville, Pa....to close to Philadelphia for me-blehhh!

  15. got an e-mail from Bill-

Hi Tom; (This is my form letter, will catch you later.)

Just to let you know that my web site will be on line again, with all the contributed pages. A teacher approached me about reinstating my web site as he was using it for his students as a learning tool on transportation. Whatever you had on my site before will return the same. The sponsorship is for the next 2 years to start with.

The web site is now on line in pieces. Searching and putting the missing pieces back together again is time consuming. Have patience, it is in progress..................

If you wish to link back to my/your pages, please do so.

In the meantime, I apologize for not being able to have kept the web site active. Take care; drive safe...............

  16. Four fella's arrived at deer camp. Provided lodging required bunking in pairs. Rob was the designated black sheep of the hunting party because Rob snored loudly enough to inhibit others from sleeping in the same room, and he was just weird. They decided it would be cruel to make any one of them to bunk with Rob the whole time. They voted and drew straws to take turns. The first fella slept with Rob and came to breakfast the next morning with bloodshot eyes, looking like he had been drug through the brush backwards. One fella asked, 'Larry, what happened to you?' 'Rob snored so loudly I just sat up and watched him all night. The second fella took his turn and by morning looked only slightly better than Larry, with his hair hanging in his bloodshot eyes. One fella inquired, 'Mike, what happened to you? You look awful!' 'Man, Rob shakes the roof with his snoring. I watched him all night', Mike replied. The third night was Herb's turn. Herb, a big burly truck driver, was a man's man. The next morning Herb came to breakfast bright eyed and refreshed. Good morning,' he said. His hunting party couldn't believe his composure! One fella inquired, 'Herb, what happened?' 'Well, we got ready for bed. I went over and tucked Rob into bed, patted him on the pooper and kissed him good night. Rob sat up and watched me all night.'

    now that I can believe!

  17. I'm finally down to the last customer's car in the shop and am making plans to get the restorations started on mine, and a couple other folk's Mack trucks. I'm not much of a computer person and would like to know what is involved in having a website set up. When my old site was set up, (www.autoaffair.com) it just went to an "coming soon" banner with my corporate logo, (it is still active). I still have the domain name and would like to work with it, but the original ISP is defunct and has been sold off.

What do I need to do at this point to use this name for a viable website?

    Thanks,

    Rob

ask Nikki. That's what I would do. Or Barry, if Nikki's unavailable for comment.

Thanks for the link too, that image could be very useful in future picture projects.
