yeah, it's a tough job. there's lots of things you have to deal with that nobody realizes. Like this-

I run down rt.7 on the Ohio side, then cross over to rt.2 at St. Marys. You can see part of the bridge beyond the Superliner dump. There's a few little towns and stop lights but for the most part rt.7 is good running.

finally, after nearly a week of nonstop work without food or rest, they make a breakthrough at the BMT control center... The head of the "getting folks back on BMT when there's a malfunction" department is not pleased with the situation. Meanwhile, Spot has other priorities...

Have you ever tried my bbq sauce on a pork roast? It's pretty good too, and cheap to make a gallon. A gallon lasts a long time too. I've posted it several times here before. It was given to me by someone else but I changed it to my liking. I've got almost 2 gallons of it now. I like to smoke a boston butt or pork loin and I usually make pulled pork bbq from the boston butt or chopped bbq from the loins. I take a gallon jug of vinegar, pour some out into another container, and add a bottle of liquid smoke,a bottle of worcestershire sauce, about half a bottle of garlic powder, some black pepper, some crushed red pepper, and some hot sauce. The original recipe called for a spoon full of everything and it tasted like vinegar so I started adding a whole bottle of everything- hard to make a whole gallon of vinegar taste like anything but vinegar, but this is really good on bbq'd pork. It makes a good marinade too. Here's how you do it- make your barbecue. pour some sauce on it. call me when it's ready.

Not at all,that's a good picture. I haven't seen a flying squirrel since I was a young chap. One lived in the woods at the back of the field and we'd go back there just to watch for it to see him sail from the tree. That's only one i've ever seen actually.

Yeah, I even took a picture of this mixer driving hat I bought at Lee-Hi truckstop last week.

While Randy and Spot have their share of super hero/spy type adventures, sometimes they just have your average ordinary adventures just like everybody else. Like this one- Randy has just finished another hard day's work and is ready to head home,but Spot has runnoft again...

I got a call from a real Texas dignitary this week, right up there with Sam Houston, George Bush, and Billy Gibbons. I don't want to name him at this time because I don't have his permission or authorization to do so, but I was impressed. I was on the way to Ambridge again with a 60' load, tarped , when the phone rang. When he identified himself I said "no it's not!" He said "yeah, it is!" "No it's not-you don't sound like a Texan, you don't have a Texas accent" "Well, it's me" Then I figured a sure way to tell, ask him a question only he would know- "all right then, what's yore dawg's name?" "Spot!!!" Then I knew it was really who he claimed to be. He's actually a member here, told me he hasn't been able to sign on all week. Hard to fool me, eh?

Not near as good as what Rob took pictures of this week... This B-model dump with a chrome radiator shell sits on rt. 51 in Pa, just north of I-70. It's a little too far off the road to get a really good picture of it. This is the old bridge from Weirton,W.V. to Steubenville,Oh. This was taken from the Ohio side. I've been across this bridge many times and it was very narrow. A whole fleet of Clines on rt. 2 in W.V. A fleet of big green trucks. Nice looking Superliner dump-been trying to get a decent picture of this truck for years,still haven't. Stupid pole...

Some years ago in a small town somewhere in central Illinois a similar occurence took place. An unidentified man was working on his R-model in his driveway,where he'd run it out of fuel. His young daughter came out of the house with the family dog on a leash and said she was going for a walk. The man knew his dog was also in heat,but he was busy and really didn't have time to explain to his daughter why she couldn't take the dog for a walk.He quickly comes up with a plan-he gets a gas can out of the garage and pours gasoline all over the dog's back half,thinking male dogs wouldn't bother her because she smelled like gas. Then he said "OK honey,you can take the dog for a walk now". A little while later the little girl and the dog return home. Pop had gotten the truck started and is in his La-z-boy smoking his pipe and reading the paper. "Hi sweety-everything go all right?" "Yeah" she said. "The dog ran out of gas about half way around the block,but don't worry-another dog pushed her all the way home".

Great looking trucks! Glad you had a camera! You should always have a camera with you so you can take pictures of things. That's my hobby ya know,taking pictures of things.

Me too-I used to live in Appomattox, but moved to Gladys a little over 5 years ago. Whenever I need parts I go all the way back to Carquest in Appomattox just because they're a good bunch of folks.

I don't get it either. I was saying the other day that I heard there was enough oil in the U.S. to last 100 years,I also heard the biggest oil field yet discovered was somewhere in Colorado only 1,000 feet down and it's never been drilled for. I hear this on the radio show "coast to coast am". Who knows if half what you hear is true,but if it is why do we still depend on the middle east countries that hate the U.S. for most of the oil?

We had a big pile of broken "made in China" binders laying in the shop floor-dozens of them. The handles would just snap in two. We use mostly snap binders,and they'll hurt you when they break! They were yellow and every time I need a new binder I tell them "Don't give me no yellow one,I want a red one". The red ones are actually made in China too but they didn't break like the yellow ones for some reason. Tom in the shop would say "ain't nothing wrong with them binders,them guys had too big a pipe on them,that's why they broke"! But only the yellow ones broke.
