  1. Amen brother!..Bulldogman
  2. "B-model" Mike Malone and his sidekick Jerry are lollygagging at the Daingerfield diner to make sure they'll be out of hours when they get back to their terminal... suddenly a strange figure appears outside the window...
  3. Oh yeah, it's good. Here's the recipe- go to Food Lion and get you a bag of skinless, boneless chicken breastesess when they have the "buy one get one free" sale. Put one bag in the freezer, take some out of the other bag ,cut them up, put in crockpot, freeze the rest. add a can or two of chicken broth to the crockpot, maybe some celery seed and a chopped onion. cut each of your cheap canned bistits into 4 pieces-or leave them whole,it just makes a bigger dumpling-and put them in the crockpot. the next day, when you realize you forgot to turn the crockpot on,dump it all out and start over, this time turning the crockpot on. you can use a fresh chicken, you can make your own broth, you can even make your own dumplings, but this is my favoritest and easiest way.
  4. I wonder whatever happened to Bernard Goetz (I think that's how it's spelled)? He's the guy that shot some thugs that tried to mug him on the subway and they arrested him, plus one of his attackers that he wounded and paralized was suing him. I think he got just what he deserved, he won't mug anybody again. And they ought to put a big statue of ol' Bernie in all the subway stations.
  5. exactly- wonder how many small businesses go out of business because they can't afford to pay their employees any more because the minimum wage keeps going up. It's good to have a minimum wage law, but I thought it was more for student's summer jobs, or easy jobs like a pie taster, or the guy that keeps the roller grill loaded with hot dogs, and not supposed to be high enough where you could do a simple job and support a family of 9 or a crack habit on minimum wages. You get a better job that requires more knowlege and skill and you should be paid better. Goes back to the same old thing, people want more and more for doing less and less all the time.
  6. what are anchor babies? are they anything like periogies?
  7. I don't know about all that- but his wife is smokin' hot!
  8. i'd hit it.
  9. and, in a related topic- the bridge is gone and so is the little man in the boat! ...and, in another related topic, I saw a white Mack on the chip dump in Rome,Ga. Monday. ...saw a big doghouse too.
  10. I like to use cheap canned bistits for chicken and dumplings. We usually make it in the crock pot.
  11. Here's the old dolly I used to pull. It was made from a Mack truck chassis. That's a 150' girder on it, it's somewhere on rt. 840 in Tn. now. I did not like driving these dollys though. Didn't really like pulling it, as it was a pain in the ass. Had to pull the front axle up on big blocks and chain it to the beam on the road, and unchain it every time you had to use it. We had a couple with gas motors on them that ran a hydraulic pump and two hydraulic cylinders that turned the bolster that I liked to run. All you had to do with them was pull the rope and start the motor, and get it straight under the beam when you were didn't need it. With those you just stood on a platform on the rear and moved a lever back and forth to turn it and you could bail out quickly if necessary.
  12. Gee, I hope hatcity's OK- he sits in Florida. Here's a picture of the Evel Knievelmobile I took at the truck show in Lincolnton last summer.
  13. another one
  14. .
  15. Great picture taking, thanks.
  16. You are absolutely right about new the trucks. Where I work we have new KW's, IH's, and Freightliners with PACCAR, Maxforce, and DD15 engines and they keep Truck Enterprises, Powell's Truck and Equipment, and Va. Truck Center busy trying to keep them running. It's just one thing after another. And they have to go to the dealer to be worked on, nothing much but routine service they can do at our shop. Nocluejoe told me he talked to a driver at a garage somewhere that was driving a new KW that had broken down. Joe thought it was funny- he was delivering brand new KW's from the factory to the dealer's lot and they couldn't even make it that far without having issues.
  17. ...and in an unrelated story- I once posted a picture of the old narrow bridge on rt. 22 that crosses the Ohio river between Steubenville,Oh. and Weirton,WV. Looks like they're tearing it down now. I passed by there last week and the ends are gone. You can see some men on the bridge, but more importantly you can also see the little man in the boat- often heard of but seldom seen and rarely photographed.
  18. here's the original picture. I had to edit some of it out though.
  19. you know, this might be slightly off topic, but that's why I liked Hugh Rowland on Ice Road Truckers. He didn't care if he was hauling poo-poo (there's youngsters here) or some vitally needed material as long as he was hauling something and getting paid for it.
  20. I looked at the Wal-Mart store today. They had no perryogies...ain't likely i'm gonna make any...so, Chef Boyardee ravioli you say?
  21. OK -
  22. Somebody sent me that joke in an e-mail, thought it was good enough to share. Any resemblance or characteristic of anyone in this joke to any real person is entirely accidental, coincidental, and unintentional.
  23. ...and black. One of my favorite combos.
  24. you can't see her or the truck, that's why it's a related topic.
