He might have been right, but i've been doing it almost 36 years now. Every time I talked to him he always asked me where i'd been, where I was going, if i'd been in any snow, seen any rain, what I was hauling, and so on...

I made one trip to Milton this week, saw this donkey just as he was about to pull a heist down at the feed store... Saw my niece in Cumberland,Va. Tuesday morning. She loves trucks and tractors! Saw bugs eating my squash, so I just pulled it up- stupid bugs! Apparently the only things I can grow is peppers and onions. My Dad grew cabbage like this every year, I never had any luck with cabbage either. This years was the best looking i'd ever grown,until the worms got them. Any driver that ever stopped at the Cumberland Restaurant on rt. 60 in Cumberland,Va. during the 60's,70's,or 80's between 11pm and 7am probably met my Dad. He worked there at night from the time I can remember, and farmed during the day. He used to leave his pocket change on top of the dresser in his bedroom. I remember one time I slipped in there and took some of it. I asked Mama if I could go to the store-French's store was a half mile up the road,rt.13 in Cumberland. We used to walk or ride our bikes up there all the time.She said "yes,do you need any money"? ..and I said "no,i've got some"...and me and my younger brother started walking to the store. I stopped before we got half way and turned around and started back home. My brother wanted to know why we weren't going to the store and I said "I just don't want to any more".I felt so guilty for taking the money. I went back and put it back on top of the dresser. Never did tell him or Mama about it.

I never had a warshin' machine on the front porch, but I did have a Kenworth truck seat.

You only take the insulation out from the bottom of the oven, in between the oven and the drawer in the bottom. It won't get hot enough to cook anything in under 57 hours if you don't. That leaves you with a double bottom with a couple inches of air space in between. You can smoke something a long time without burning it. You take the insulation out of the bottom, then drill a few offset holes in the middle part and a lot around the edges to let the smoke in and you're good to go. A gas oven works best, you don't have to do anything to it, just put a fire under it and smoke stuff. They really work great as a smoker, just most people don't want a stove sitting in their back yard.

Looks like a smoker now,eh? ..oh, looking pretty much the same. I removed all this stuff- All I got left is drilling some holes. I'll let him clean it up. Saw this little fellow while I was working on it. It was only about an inch long. It started showing off when I aimed the camera at it.

I made out like Fred Sanford on an excursion to Altavista a while ago. Found this new looking styrofoam cooler over at the dumpster, so I put it in the truck. There was another guy there and I offered it to him first- you know how some people go to the dump and you know they want to take something, but they won't because somebody else is there. That doesn't bother me- but he said "no, go ahead, i've already got one". So I said "i've got several, but i'll take this one too". Should be good to put cold drinks in at a cookout, it's really thick styrofoam. Then I brought this unit home- I know you think it's junk, - well, ok, it is junk- but it's also a potential smoker. All i've got to do is get the insulation out of the bottom of the oven, drill some holes, remove the wiring, and it makes a fine smoker. I already have one but my son said he'd like to have one and even though I don't use mine much since I got the smoker/grill I still don't want to get rid of it. And, on a final note- I'm going to give this computer fix-it disc a free plug because it works. When I had computer problems a while back I used this to get it straightened out. I had it a pretty good while before I even installed it because it looked too complicated for me, but it's really pretty easy to figure out.Came with a big instruction book, and what I like about it is that it tells you what's safe to get rid of, what you might get rid of, and what not to delete unless you have a full understanding of whatever it is,which I never do,so I don't. I bought it at Wal Mart but you could probably get it online too. It fixes and optimizes a lot of things, I think it was around $39.95, well spent in my opinion. I just added another year to it in fact.

I saw a 2 cyl. 830 at the antique tractor pull in Stonewall,Va. one time. Looked like it was straight off the farm. It and a fine looking restored Super M made full pulls, added more weight to the sled, both made a full pull, added all the weight they had, full pulls, then all the guys that could get in the weight box got in it. Finally stopped the Super M, but the 830 just kept chugging on.Best tractor pull I ever saw.
