HA Ha ! I grappled on to several wheels once in pack rat Mode ! They got made into a saw mill! 🤣

There are lots of tsb on this subject ! None on F**kn injector Cups On E7! Granted the Volvo turds screwed up the service bulletins like they did to the parts system ! probably hid them some place! Now I think on it these guys where his truck is fit right in !😡

I have been able to re-use those injector lines. I take a small piece of 320 emery cloth in my finger tips and rotate the ends of the lines until the impression is all but gone. theres been many times where all 6 stayed sealed.. NO o-rings or sealant is used,, EVER... they dont leak oil, if they did you will have a bigger issue.. Buddy, I dont like to pick on mechanics, but I get the impression they dont know Mack engines.. I suggest you search out some other posts on here related to your issue, and read them.. with respect, Jojo
Get The Truck out of that shop ! The more I read the more I believe you need to RUN! THEY ARE CLUE LESS! and full of BS!

as Joey Said ! ok... too much to absorb.. stop them, and pull the truck home.. the injector cups on those engines dont crack.
I have seen over the whole time I worked on these! injector(sleeves) not cups leak MAYBE twice and never internal !And apparently you have Two leaking NOPE Don't think so ! Get the truck out of that shop! They are not real Mack oriented they got Volvo brain! I have seen where the wrong sleeve was installed in the wrong head coolant leaked out the injector line! These can be replaced in frame IF they are leaking! But they aren't! Injection lines leak yup Fuel ! Tow the truck it would be wise to get the hell out of there tow it to joeys if you have to It will be a way cheaper and it would get fixed proper! And another thing I would suggest if you have disturbed the rocker assemblies replace the bolts there were issues at one time with these and you want to start fresh there ! Joey will likely get get you talked thru the coolant push thing here! another embellishment I read was High liners That never happened either! low liners in the early engines yup ! but not on AI or AC Get the truck out of there! this engine wasn't One of Macks stellar builds but it didn't have any injector sleeve issues to speak of! They were guilty of trying to make it Eat Its own shit just like all the rest due to the emission rules! extra heat to deal with bla bla bla !

I have a Jabobs svc kit withe enough parts to rebuild 2 Jake heads..
Injector orings was another one I used to horde them when V8s were popular! We did head gaskets by the dozen for several years till they finally got a good handle on the gasket issue! 😁 I tend to pack rat stuff anyway, Might need that some day ! You know!🙄

Open the surprise me they’re really cracking down here in Reno. What surprises make us? This place is turned into most every other town. They are really cracking down on ID at least that’s what they’re saying on the main street media. Let’s see what happens…. Bob
its hard to believe anything you see electronically these days with this AI Crap going on! They tell you one thing and the exact opposite is going on or worse! This post could be fake for all I know! 😡

I dug through all my small Mack parts and only found 2 straight keys.. This is how they get us.. Make essential small parts obsolete. I wish I had a crystal ball 10 + years ago.. I may have bought a few of them, as well as other smalls.. Mack's price is $85.00.. I saw a PAI version for $103.00.. None in stock..
I used to squirrel away various parts in my tool box bottom drawer that our parts guys seemed to have a hard time getting saving them from rebuild kits ect, Trunnion inner washers was a common save as not every job was worth using them!

Geoff,, there was dead air on the phone. What also got me was that he was sure they didnt sell that part, and didnt even ask a co-worker or the manager to help him help me.. No concern for serving the customer... Young'ns have no clue how to ''serve'' folks..
amen bro absolutely no clue! No work ethic ! May have to make your own offset key 😂! Volvo Turds want the old stuff to die so they can sell more junk to people!

Speaking of piston cooling nozzles, I didn't see any in the ENDT 673 that I have.. I even looked again yesterday..
Piston cooling probably started as they were thinking on adding more ponys to the build, morphing up to the 237- 285- 315 I know when they went to 350 they added steel webs between the main caps ! Just before they started using the 4 valve head!

just realized I hadn't read this thread all the way thru page two.
Can someone help out with the nomenclature--
What does TDC stand for? What does TEM stand for?
I have a wiring diagram for my E7--it shows an Engine Shutdown Relay. Is this the same as what is being called a fuel shutoff solenoid, and does this have anything to do with the problem that mild thunder was having? Think I've got the same problem.
If you suspect the shut down relay swap it with another relay in the batch there remember the one you use so you can replace it !

Is there a torque limit on a 98 model
If there are wires for the torque limit switch they will be towards the back of the trans likely tied back in the loom two wires! if it has a mack trans the switch is located on the back Cylinder At the top! Not sure if they use it on that trans how ever the the wiring will likly still be there ! I have NEVER seen a Spicer trans in that model not sayin it isn't possible usually Eaton fuller Or Mack! Spicer did clone a Fuller trans at one point so anything is possible!

This motor does not have independent injection. It has the old style injection pump set up with only the rear connection for the throttle linkage is a wire pedal.. we changed the coolant temperature sensor and we checked for a second all pressure sensor, but it didn’t find one. It does have all pressure but as soon as it builds up all pressure it kills like I mentioned before. Also, the only electrical we have on the injection pump is, the pick up sensor on the side of it and the main harness that plugs into the rear of the injection pump they also is a three-way solenoid plug on front injection pump not sure where that is for. Does anyone know if they should be voltage to the fuel pump if so, what wire diagram will show you that .
Did you try what Joe h posted ?
maybe you should?

Yes sir.. today's price for a target is $300.00..
Criminal !
one 7018 welding rod 50 cents / one 6 inch by six inch piece of 1/4 inch plexi maybe 3 dollars Plus 3 dollar 100% mark up ! Worth 6 bucks! In materials Bit of sweat equity for etching ! 50 dollars would be reasonable ! $300 Not so much! We should go into business making these we could clean up sell for 99.99 ! You could retire from building engines! Become a door to door piston squirter aimer salesman! 🤣

It should run longer than that with low oil pressure or low water level.
If it's the traditional injection pump then I'd suspect the shutdown lever solenoid.
If it's an EUP engine then you can request Blink Codes by holding the Set/Decel cruise switch until the Engine Malfunction Light (lightning bolt) reacts and starts blinking a 2 digit code to you. Example, code 9-2 is engine shutdown without key. Commonly caused by a loose EECU fuse, but basically means an interruption in EECU power circuit.
One code is spat out per request. So key on, engine off, hold Set/Decel. When it's done blinking hit it again for next code. Repeat until it starts blinking out the same sequence of codes again. Post any codes here and we'll look em up for you.
Yup its not running long enough to even build O/P ! not an O/P or Low water issue! Do the check engine procedure as joe explains there!👍 60 seconds or so would indicate a sensor ! Note I have seen stuck engine brake sols cause this on MP engines I know that this is E7 how ever don't rule out anything! Also check the big round plug at the fuel pump un plug and replug it together several times it may have loose pins!

That's what I have. I traced a target on plexi glass 20+ years ago and made mine. Knocked the flux off a welding rod as well.. 🤣
YUP! If works don't fix it! Same rig I used for years as well Not sure much changed in that department! keep it simple!

Yup took fan belt off today get one tomorrow fight it back in! Drive seized to the pump shaft not unexpected!😡

yep, I need to take it off that stand and put it on the wooden engine pallet so I can get the flywheel housing on. I also have to put the injection pump coupler together.. The book i'm using is just 'ok'.. the assembly sequence is not very clear. I pick at this one between chores and the E-Tech that I have on a stand. as you know.. I am expecting the new lifters for it soon. Then I can do the cam bushings and get the cam set installed, run the valves, and get the 3 covers on that one.. I use heavy plastic sheets and magnets to hold the plastic up to protect the open bottom end in the shop.
Thanks for the comments. I hope you get a good outcome with your tractor. Jojo
Nice thing with the e6 you can use cloths pins to hold them up! While the side plates are off!

Well At the very least you have learned where not to take a truck for repairs! ANY TRUCK! Can't imagine what they would have told you had you brought them a Pete with a Cat or Cummins engine in it for repairs!🙄May be they would have you change out the Air in the Tires or something@ 150 an hour !
Sorry this Happened to you! Not all Mack dealers Are like this How ever now a days its hard to find reputable people to work !
You'll see multiple complaints on this site By a lot of us on this subject!
Good luck with your truck hunting Bro!
