You likely do !!! Or you wouldn't be posting here!  Most guys don't Care!  Just a Job ! Keeping an open mind! Google stuff use what ever at your disposal to find stuff for people is key! Problem is its time consuming ! and you got folks coming at you from every direction mechanics customers ect ! Compounded by an antiquated poorly designed  computer system! Could be so easy if the Impact was set up correctly! Unfortunately they hired the wrong people with the wrong mindset to design it!

I GREATLY prefer Cummins over any other lookup. It actually makes sense and, like you said, actually has a functioning search. The only issue with Cummins is the Aftertreatment Device section, but that's because the OEM never sends them what device was installed at the factory, so Cummins lists all the available parts. At least Impact will show those parts, but Hino/Isuzu couldn't care less.

Yup I'm not a Cummins lover by any means But they  Do have a common sense  approach to repair for the most part ! Unlike Volvo ! And if you have a Cummins in a Mack/volvo  you have the politics and finger pointing when shit goes wrong! Your problem , not My  problem bs with the customer caught in the middle! when it should be a TEAM effort! !

Haha, I still respect my elders, I was raised that way. I can't imagine watching a prestigious brand like Mack get dragged into the dirt by a European truck maker. I agree that Impact can be really bad (nowhere near as bad as looking up UD parts, that company is an abomination), and the majority of parts guys are lost most of the time. I like to believe I stand out from them however!

The problem with impact is the search or lack there of in my opinion! Cummins has it all over these guys in the repair and parts area!

Was going to suggest EGR cooler, but that apparently won't be a problem for you (Very smart of you). We've seen oil cooler/side cover failures before on both 11 and 13 liters, that could very well be your issue. I also wouldn't discount the possibility of the head gasket leaking, but we rarely see that at all.

Its likley a MP7  ! As stated lots of places for this issue to happen even a turbo has coolant to it!  think you'll need to pull the pan to chase that one!

I don't exactly want to make it public, but I'm not super far from you. MP's and mDrives are absolutely my biggest money maker, that's for sure.

Key is money maker! Hate em or not you still have work! And will do for quite awhile 🤣 ! don't forget All the manufacturers are facing the same issues Volvo/Mack are .I respect your statement also ! But  you need to step back in the line thou  some !  us old guys got seniority when it comes to the Volvo trash hatein ! They certainly trashed the parts system ! The old Mack parts system made parts guys look like heroes most of the time! Didn't need a book or computer to find stuff most of the time! Now you get the blank stare when you go to the parts counter! And its not all because the people are totally stupid! Note if you need to cross reference stuff get your self a PAI account There site works well for this if they have the part your looking for!

Problem solved! Thanks to FJH I found the overflow valve on the back right side of the pump. Upon removal I discovered the o ring sealing the small end was bad. New o ring and now I build almost 20 psi with the hand pump.

However I suspect the spring may be weak as max pressure when running is only 40 psi. Spec is for 38-50psi.

    PXL_20240305_230541194.jpg

Stretch the spring a bit if you want ! 40 pounds is fine thou ! and If there is a tiny hole thru the center at the pointy end of that plunger solder it closed! I believe B IN B pulling is likely running a Robby bosch most racers like these pumps better! 30 - 40 psi  ok it will still pull fine at that stock! remember they have a high fuel demand when racing! pressure and flow is important there!

I'm chasing down a low fuel pressure problem on my E9. The engine is hard starting. Idle fuel pressure is less than 5psi and the max fuel pressure is 20 psi. I think the issue lies in the overflow valve, or rather, the lack of one. My return line goes directly back to the tank without restriction from the injection pump.

My dress is the stock overflow valve is no longer available, NTS in Edmonton shows out of stock.

What are my options for a non-stock overflow valve?

Its built in to the pump ! Right rear round thing near the return line remove the allen plug and check the spring! make be broken!

    Afternoon all,

Having an issue with a chn 613 e7 aset the truck ran out of fuel in the passenger side tank had about half tank on the drive side when I got to the truck I fueled it up and primed it got it to sputter and start a few times then no start at all checked cam and crank sense both good. Filters full etc, I then put a gauge on it and was reading 0 psi when cranking I put a fuel pump in it new filters full when installed took a little longer than expected to get fuel back at the lines but got adequate fuel flow after lots of primer pumping , cracked three lines and she started pretty easily and good fuel pressure while running. Truck went on the road today after idling for about 45 minutes made it 5 minutes down the road and shut down both tanks are completely full truck dose not appear to have lost prime. They pulled and cleaned a couple relays and said the truck started and ran for 30 minutes at adle then they ran it for 15 at 1500 rpm and the truck shut down and didn’t sound like it ran empty just shut off. I’m going to plug it into the computer when I get there shortly. Any thoughts?

    thanks I’m advance!

Yup check the codes! howerver  Does it shut off clean or sputter to a stop! =fuel issue ! Stops clean = Electrical!

That’s a great idea I will check the vecu tomorrow. I do remember there being dampness on the passengers side floor so I will see if I can replicate the symptoms.

The fuel pedal has a close relationship with this also !

The fuse panel in the cab, right side

Another place you can look here is the Vecu check the plug to this its under the  mid dash and unfortunately its mounted wire side up and if the windshield leaks it can cause gremlins if water gets into the plug or The ecu itself!

That is the starter relay, the ground breaker is all black and looks like the starter relay. Look on the fire below the center of the windshields.  Is this truck a CH or CX?

look down by the cab mount Joe!!! nit switch! ground fault has black wire I believe  you are correct on the relay! looks like an R model!

Thanks to all the replies .I was very hesitate about asking what's a grade gripper . always willing to learn new stuff .knew it was a "bad thing" when explanation said ;;new age idea. new age phrase came in during the '70's  and it meant bad news then and still today I guess.

Yup mechanic is our pronoun  ! Not a technician! How ever there are a few here that qualify as Techs ! 🙄

Mech,  grade gripper replaces the driver using his trolley as a hill holder.. just more crap.

Layers of it Joey! They had to implement this or the 10000 dollar clutch would burn up! As much as this trans works amazingly well when it screws up its pricey ! Provided all is working in harmony all is good! BUT if anything is out of tune get your wallet out ! I stopped by the shop last week the boys were doing an Mdrive clutch and front section re and re as it was to expensive for us to replace and input bearing they exchange the main box! Parts changing not mechanicing

It is a new age nanny device to help "drivers" who don't really know how to drive a manual transmission actually drive a manual transmission. It keeps air pressure applied to the service brakes for a period of 2-3 seconds after releasing the foot valve. This is supposed to give someone time to get their right foot over to the throttle and start giving the truck fuel and not roll backwards if stopped on an incline. Hence the name "grade gripper" 🙄

Yep ! the New Age! If you stomp to hard to fast it will likely  derate on you 🙄

Yep, and the tool set for M-Drives is very expensive. We had to buy it, however, we were not allowed to repair the main box. We had to send it out as a core and install a new reman box. So the tools just sit there on the shelf

now there's a positive for my morale; I still remembered it was an 1 1/8th lock nut. ambitious  person could take an old short screw driver attach (almost said braze it ) a piece of 1/16th ? flat stock long enough to reach across the exhaust adjuster to end of screw driver . some times it was challenging to use flat screw driver to hold only one side of adjuster while tightening 1 1/8 lock nut. as with many fancy/expensive tools today = not using them regular why spend the $$$$: make one.

They offered up lots of special tools over the years most never used by me! Always had a work around for most! to this day they make the dealers buy" essential " tools many of them virtually not needed  for everyday use! The first tools they sent us when the Volvo guys took over was brackets to remove the engines with! This instilled confidence that the product was going to have longevity I guess🤣🙄

like you this is to new a unit for me to understand.

Correct! its all inter connected when the Mdrive is used!
