I am sure this will ruffle a few feathers.... however Allisons are hands down the best trans out there. I put many miles on both manuals and autos on and off road, I have even had manuals and autos fail "the only reason the Allison Failed was the guy ran it low on fluid for an extended duration, and had cavitation in the pump" the cost equals out to be the same in the long run. The only thing to do with an Allison is to change the oil and filters. The Allison will flat out $hit and get while the other guy is having to make his shift. Power is un-interupted while accelerating. The initial cost is higher than your run of the mill manual, however it does pay in the long run.

niphilli, not to get your dander up, but do you have a cdl? have you ever driven a all Mack truck on the highway or offroad? Well I have and they will wipe the slate clean compared to the competition on or off road. The major problem here is v#^&o has no respect for anything, let alone a great AMERICAN icon. Who here wants to buy a sodomized truck. The Mack transmission is an amazing creation, and the rear drives are beyond comparison. We are constantly seeing a slow erotion of the product that we all have become to rely our livings on. And now with this move they have hurt the American working man, building,driving,maintaining and selling the truck with the closing down of the plant and moving out . Plus they have alienated any customer that would like to buy anything in the future. I realize that vulva, is doing this to increase the market share. And to increase dividends for the stock holders etc. etc. etc. but dammit they are stepping all over the American working man by selling us a half rate product under the guise of a true American icon. Whats next Mack trucks made in china sold in the U.S.A.? ohhh wait some of the parts are all ready coming in.

Well the new diff CRDPC92 died today the ring gear lost a tooth with only 1,674 Miles on it hauling asphalt. It only took me 3 hours to yank it out this time. I will see if they stand behind there warranty. Any comments on what could cause a supposedly new ring and pinion gear set to fail would be appreciated. I am thinking the power divider was set up wrong perhaps. I think it might be the ULSD causing a huge power increase and blowing the diff apart!!

Thanks Lmack, I have always wondered what screw everyone was talking about. My 350 4V runs good, and I dont plan on turning it up. But the added knowledge is good to have. Now I just need to find out which pump I have. The only tag on the pump says "Re manufactured by Mack" "model 300" I'm sure there is some cosmetic differences between the two. But I have no idea what they are.

I Have never played with an injector pump. With that in mind I labeled the picture with what I think is the lock nuts and the adjustment rod. Is this correct? if not please let me know. Also what is the difference's between an American Bosch and a Robert Bosch?

It is a very sad mournful day! With that in mind I would like to remind people of the 2nd amendment. I doubt there would be a death count of 32 innocent people at Virgina Tech, if there was someone there with a legal concealed carry permit. It seems the college deemed it against their policy of freedom to carry a firearm while on campus despite what VA. Gun laws are. Where were the cops and other people to protect us? We all know they cannot be everywhere all the time, and our founding fathers understood this. So that is why I feel the need to emphasize our 2nd amendment right. Without this right we cannot have any other, nor freedom to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Something these kids will never experience. Just my opinion... I'm sure some people will think differently.

I decided to go with a rebuilt pig for $1,895 out the door, thats with all new guts with a one year warr. Its either that or some used unknown pig, or more lost revenue from down time.

Howdy y'all I am looking for price's for a used or new or rebuilt front diff for my old 85' R686ST. The Helical pinion gear died today after a long and happy life, parts of it are all over the top section. I will do some calling around this weekend and see whats out there for a replacement. Just trying to get a ball park figure so I dont get raped by some sordid characters in the parts trucking industry.

From what I have heard, Toledo Mack and Mack Corp. had a huge legal fight and Tol. Mack lost. They were located in a bad section of town, and not willing to relocate they did offer great service for the older trucks. So if you dont bow down before the Volvo god, you get dismissed.

Most of these fancy Volvo Mack dealerships, gives me the impression that my business and my old truck is unwelcomed and a nusience that should go away just like the old parts they need to stock. P.S. Toledo Mack is offically out of business and closed up. That leaves Findlay Mack or Vomack here in nw ohio area, both are quite a drive. I wonder how hard it would if I wanted to start a Sales and Service center?

My old 85' R with a em6-300 in a quad dump weighing in at 70,000 lbs. gets 8 mpg with normal mixed city and hwy. I am kinda curious what the new e6-350 4V will get for mpg.

Not to change the topic, but michigan highway patrol says the placement of that fire extinguisher is against there law. Last month while going thru the peoples republic of michigan a copper pulled over my fellow driver in a 2000 RD and could not find anything wrong with the truck but said that Macks placement of the fire ext. is not allowed, and issued us a ticket and fine. However upon writing a letter to the judge took care of all the issues. Kinda silly if ya ask me. Its a perfect place to put one I think, but what do I know...Im just a simple trucker.
