  1. Was at a 4th parade and did a little people watching. Ya, there aren't many "thin" young people around anymore. It's crazy how bad people just don't care. I was 5-10, 155# out of school. I'm 57(next week) and just 170#. It takes a lot of determination to not let yourself go. A good friend did and he is now 70 and near crippled due to being so overweight for the last 25 yrs. He has been my main reason to watch what I eat.
  2. Good to hear from you Jim. Glad you are on the mend. The man upstairs ain't done with you yet.
  3. How much is "a little" and how hard do you run the truck? I don't know how hard oil is on a drier? It's likely only going to get worse, so I would say replace it when you can.
  4. I think that is his intention. No, 24.5" rims will not bolt to 22.5" spokes.
  5. My welding supplier just told me the end of July for Stellite hard facing? Um, wth am I suppose to weld with?? Saw a couple customers last week, one told me that an OEM took 9 months to get him a new extruder screw. I don't feel bad when we are 6 months behind. No materials, no help. We're just screwed all the way around.
  6. Yup. Leaning on a Holmes Lumber Longhorn. Who cut and pasted the Mack hat on years ago?? Lol.
  7. Joey, you will find that Geoff is a world book encyclopedia of information! He will be a great addition to BMT.
  8. Jim Tomer(Tundra) is from a frozen land(Alaska), and Idaho. He made a stop in Ohio some years back and we spend an afternoon looking at Bighorns. I even got pictures (somewhere). Jim Hancock got in a bit of a tiff on here a few years ago and he and a few others left abruptly. Sad.
  9. Hey Tony. The gang is migrating here?
  10. Starters do NOT reverse rotation with polarity changes. The power goes into the armature and windings. Thus reversing both which cause it to run the same direction no matter what. Story: Few years back, at the motor shop I use they were putting an FE on the dyno. They threw one of their "shop" starters on it and it won't start or build oil pressure. They were stumped for quite a while....until they pull the cap and saw the distributor was going the wrong way. Seems, somehow they got their hands on a REVERSE Rotation starter(used on twin engine boats). They only go ONE way no matter how the wires are put on.
  11. SPAMMER AleRT!!! Lol!!! Hot Dog Jim. Glad to hear from you. Pull up a chair once and awhile and participate. Lawd have mercy if we'd get Bento over here.
  12. When I stretched my truck and added the aux transmission, I had to play around with things to get the angles to all balance out. I think motor was like 4* down, so I had to hang the aux box tilted 4* down to match(but on the same height as motor) and then the rear was close enough. Each end of the shaft has to equal 0* to make the joints work smoothly. Mine has no noticeable shake, besides being a 60 yr old truck!
  13. Crack a line and see if the transfer pump is moving any fuel?
  14. Typical pipe fittings should have enough give to align a fitting and seal okay. As long as you don't try to over tighten it and then try to back it up.
  15. Checking parts is very time consuming. I've built my fair share of motors through the years. Never a large diesel but that would just add to the complexity and time. Not to say anything about the size of the parts too!
  16. Lucky mine isn't violent. Just feel and hear the exhaust note surging as I try to hold a steady speed with little throttle application. Heavy load, no issue.
  17. I was thinking that myself. Like is he just running everything together with just an impact gun or what?? 🤣
  18. You beat me to it Terry. I was like...."that's Terry's truck"....
  19. LOL...,this came up on my feed today.....LMAO. (No women on here to worry about being offended)
  20. I used to be in a local July 4 th parade years back. Had about 5 trucks from local chapter get in it. The g/f always loved doing it and wishes we could do them again. It was always tough as we'd get home from my race at like 2am, sleep for 3 hrs and get up and get to the staging for the parade. She likes throwing candy to the kids and waving to everyone. I'd run the air compressor ragged with the constant horn blowing.
  21. The actual radiator or just the chrome shell? My shell comes off easily. The small radiator should be easy. The large version, like I have, takes some finesse because it is a very snug fit inside the outer collar.
