Freightrain,speaking of old "jimmys"in the70's there was a kid hauling steel with a longnose gmc v12 gasburner 20sp.Spicer.probably had less trouble pulling hills than finding gas stations!@4mpg! Running outta Pittsburgh,we mostly ran all the auto plants in your state,sometimes as far west as Chicago,and Detroit. By The way ,what is your "home " drag strip?

freightrain,I drove a b61, 711 with a triplex that would do80mph@2100, obviously an overdrive.If you were to swap in a modern big block,454,427,455 etc. Into that chassis, they will all do 5000rpm,what would it top out at! Also I know the triplex would handle the torque but would it and the diff.handle the rpm? It would be sacrilege to put a gas v8 into a restored B model, but I'm always thinking out of the box!
