  1. "Is the last picture a picture of a dog bringing a newspaper? at first i thought it was of a dog biting a flea off its rear lol" I thought it looked like a Bulldog eating the Repair Manual....LOL Speed
  2. You mean to tell me we have to tie our loads down?? THAT'S what "strategic packing" and "wedged stacking" are for. Sheeesh-next thing ya know they'll be telling us we have to have BRAKES! Speed
  3. I hear NSA LOVES Facebook! Just imagine all the useful stuff they can record from it! Speed BTW-NO-I'm not paranoid, just ca-wait-what was that noise? I think they're watching me...

  5. True, but I think the same parameters apply. There's no denying there are more Female Truckers than any other time since WW-II;I don't see much wrong with making the rigs a little more adjustable for smaller and/or less muscular drivers, male OR female, except the automatic transmissions-I just can't get used to that idea. (Have they figured out how to make an automatic in a semi survive in the Western Mountain States yet?) As long as the new developments don't add a lot to the purchase price,no problem. Speed
  6. If I'm not mistaken, there's a little S curve to the left at the end,so I'm guessing no...VERY nice looking seat warmer though.
  7. That or it was built on a Friday and the right side was closer to the Exit door...
  8. FWIW-Up here the mines are hiring female drivers whenever they can because they take better care of the equipment, don't drive crazy and on average have better depth perception. I'm sure there are a few guys who would argue that, but with the cost of mine equipment,I'm sure they wouldn't be doing that if there wasn't a proven benefit to it. Speed
  9. I couldn't get the pics to open either. Speed
  10. Reminds me of re-gearing my old Harley. (the '80-80) Changed the transmission output sprocket on it from a 22T to a 24T and the wheel sprocket from a 51T to a 46T. After that,it'd roll down the road at 75 turning a leisurely 2300 revs.( I COULD have gone further with it by changing the motor sprocket from a 22T to a 25T,but that would've been overkill.) That kicked my mileage past the 50 mpg mark by a ways too.
  11. Okay--is there a problem with this? Why do ya think they're so LOW geared? (Besides a little less power than is adequate...)
  12. Anyone who'd pay over 5K for something to rat is nuts. the whole concept for rat rodding was to build a driver from whatever you had lying around, then people started paying STUPID huge money for rat rods. I think the market's about gone now though. Unless a guy had ALL the good stuff on a pick up like this I don't think he could get 5K for it ratted. I could be wrong though-I tend to underestimate the idiocy of many of those with the bucks to buy whatever interests them without checking their finances first. Speed
  13. Beautiful job! Bet you have a convoy following you back. Speed
  14. Hey,Dog; Not much of note going on right now. Got some tires on my '54 GMC 2 Ton a while back, hauled some building materials out to a friend's place with it,and while I was there she asked if I'd leave the truck for a couple of weeks so she could haul some trash with it. That was about 6 months ago. I went out to bring it home a week or so ago, cleaned up the battery terminals, etc. and charged the batteries, but when I turned the key and hit the starter, smoke boiled from under the good. Turns out the mice had chewed up my charge wire from the alternator to the battery, and it dead-shorted to the firewall. I managed to disconnect the batteries before there were actual flames. SO far,I'm only out an alternator and about 3 feet of 12 ga. wire;don't know yet if more was hurt than that. This payday I'll get wire, another alternator,a coil, (what ELSE could it have hurt?)and my electrics box and see if I can make it a runner again. At home,I traded some bamboo flooring to a guy for a 5 hp motor for my big compressor;I thought he got the better deal, but I needed the motor,so ?. Had to replace the plugs on BOTH compressors and the outlet, since what I had was obsolete and I couldn't find 'em anywhere. It worked for a total of about 4 hours before the motor's output side bearing seized and smoked the motor. (I can still smell the smoke a week later.) I'm putting the front back on a Toyota 22R. I traded into a once rolled '81 Toyota 4WD pick up (a ranch truck) I'd hoped to start driving (better mileage on its worst day than my B-II on its best.) but it had problems. Whatever happened to it didn't do a LOT of damage;mashed the left side a bit, wrinkled the roof and put a hole in it,popped the rear window out and threw the tailgate off. But the glass is still good, the windows roll up-n-down,the doors still work,so it's still viable as a work truck. Rebuilt the carb, replaced the fuel pump, changed the oil and filter, rewired part of the fusebox to get the lights to work, replaced the front calipers and pads. All the guys on the Toyota forum said the engine should have a new timing chain every 150K,so with 165K on the odometer I did that. (Oil pan and timing cover leaked oil badly because I tried a "shortcut" I saw on the internet. So NOW I'm replacing the oil pan gasket and the timing cover gaskets, the RIGHT WAY.) Talked to the PO about the truck, and she told me the truck had "around 300,000 on it",and 220,000 of that was since it was rolled! And she'd NEVER replaced the timing chain. Anyway,I'm being a wuss, waiting for a warm day to finish assembling the front of the motor and get it running. (Is THIS what getting OLD is like??) Got another dog to replace my old companion,Pooh, (my ex named her when we were together) I'd had for 15 years. This one is Kita, she's part Akita, part shepherd of some sort. 8 years old,was rescued once from a puppy mill by a good friend,he's moving and can't keep her. I got her scheduled to be spayed, but she's in heat right now,so THAT'S being a learning experience. She's a pretty great dog though, well trained and MOSTLY well behaved (with current "affliction" excepted). Other than that, nothing new. So,what's new in YOUR world? Speed
  15. 2stack; Too bad they can't make 'em a "by request" kinda deal. I had a set of the originals in excellent shape GIVEN to me after they were made illegal, but I had nothing to run 'em on,so I never went to get 'em. Still kicking myself for that. As I understand it,they were okay until they had some tire changes on 'em,then the flange the split ring went in would show wear and the ring could snap out,or the flange would chip off. Did I hear it right? Speed
  16. I know those alloy 2 piece wheels were outlawed years ago,but does anyone make a retro copy of 'em in 1 piece format? I've always liked the look of 'em on an older truck. Speed
  17. "There's a guy in Miami that will sign you off for about a grand. I think all the waste haulers use him." I wonder if he signed off the garbage truck drivers here in Elko;some of THEM drive like they bought their licenses from out of State.. .... Speed
  18. Another thing eBay's done is the "electronic" sniper, where a bidder can let THEM handle the bidding for him. Every time somebody else bids, the electronic sniper ups your bid just enough to be top bidder. (Makes me wonder-what if a dozen bidders are using the ES? I guess then it just goes along ratcheting EVERYBODY'S bids up,over and over, until everyone's topped out. I HATE bidding,so I just shop for "Buy It Now" stuff. I see it kinda like WalMart-I hate like hell to use it,but sometimes it's the only game in town. Speed
  19. "why dont you put the second 3 speed box in backwards it will then give two good over drives and will solve all your problems" HIGH except then you have to build more power to use gear. Speed .
  20. Thanks guys-I was pretty sure I recognized the cab lines and windshields as Mack, but the fenders and lights and lack of Bulldog started me doubting myself. This is in Lemon Valley. Speed
  21. Hi all; My Brother sent me this picture, and we hope you can help us identify the truck. I think it's a Mack,he thinks maybe an International Harvester. Speed tps://us-mg6.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=2_0_0_1_184421_AFDuw0MAAAJ0U6pupwAAAPj55hM&pid=1&fid=Inbox&inline=1
  22. Thanks,Brad-I'm workin' at it. RFCDrum; Like I said,I think the easiest thing would be to just call Gordon and ask him to email a pic or two. I'm not gonna be goin' outside until I get this lung congestion to clear up and the cough to lighten up. Gordon's a good guy,he'll be fair with you. He works at one of the mines here so it might take a couple of attempts to get through, but don't give up. Speed
  23. Maybe it's just my eyes, but that blue one on the first page sure looks to me like it has a broken front drive axle. That or they found just the right hole to park the right side drivers in to get that much difference in angle between the wheel face and the side of the box van. Speed
