Their investment in a name is finally paying off, LOL

Truthfully though, I work at a mine and we have had all kinds of dump trucks in there to haul ore. Big loads, big hills and horribly rough roads.

Peterbilt's, Kenworth's, Western Star and Mack Granites. And while all the others fell apart (except for the Star 4900 and 6900's) the Granites just kept on going, every day. I wasn't a fan of driving an M-Drive, but those trucks took all the abuse for the last three years.

I just wish these new Mack's weren't as ugly as they are. And had gauges with actual readable numbers on them, and wish they gave you options to spec them for more tough applications.

People around here rushed to get their orders in  before the 2027 emissions hit that will cost an additional 20-25  grand. Word is they are adding a second alternative/generator to power a 48 volt heating element in the DPF-SCR system. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse.

Oh boy, I hadn't heard of that. Doesn't sound like the best idea, since my pickup already doesn't let me regen while in park supposedly because of the exhaust temperatures. Let's go ahead and make the already blistering hot exhaust even hotter!

They have to cut the NOX another 80% in 2027 and the factory has to extend the emissions warranty to 650,000 miles. I know they are re-designing the pistons and adding the 48 volt electric heating element in the catalyst. I will have to say the Pioneer I drove the other day was averaging 9.25 MPG.

Wow that’s getting up there ! Just about up to a 350 of the late 1980 vintage!
