Good evening

today my driver was hauling asphalt (dump truck)

and suddenly temp went up truck shut off

he gets out check under the hood

Fires it back up and the air compressor is pushing water out the side and through the over flow (reservoir) tank

I’m hoping that it’s just the compressor and nothing internal

any help or guidance will truly be appreciated

21 yrs in trucking and I’ve never had this kinda issue

but anyway

to get the load off

we open the valve for the water to flow through the heater core and left the cap loose so the pressure wouldn’t build

got the load off and truck home

temp was about  180

drain tanks water and dripping out the air compressor

none in oil

so am I correct on air compressor

and if so does this have to be timed like injection pumps

Again Thank you 🙏🏽

Another thing to consider, if it did push significant amount of coolant through the air drier, then a complete service of the air drier is warranted. You said you drained the air tanks, was any antifreeze found when they were drained?

Yes

I have a new filter to go in it

I plan to pull the lines blow them out with shop air

I appreciate all the help

got it ordered today from Mack

pick up in the am

Most likely, air comp.  keep in mind  There is an oil tube in the center of the coupler and aux shaft.  When you pull the compressor, make sure the tube is in the aux shaft. It pulls out of the compressor coupler with ease..

1/2" by 1 1/2" long....

I appreciate the help

you still working on these old dogs 👁️👁️

I’d like to get some bearing rolled in and a overhead tan on the old dog

i replaced the rear stand several months back and I’d like to keep the old dog healthy

if so let me know I’ll drive it out once I get the air compressor on and done

Thank you

Ok guys I’m in need of more help

replaced the air compressor new from Mack clean all lines with air and changed filter

put the truck back to work this morning

it’s pushing  oil out the breather on the spinner housing

never had this problem before

oil pressure was normal around 25/30 hot idle and 50/55 driving

still has same pressure

am I doomed here or am I over looking something that needs cleaning

I’m going to pull the blow by filter clean and check it once it cools down

Thank you

You can drop the oil pan and pressure test the cooling system to 16 P.S.i. and look for coolant leaking around the bottom of the liners.

Mike, I have a long block that is built with steel lifters and the high horsepower cam key installed.  KIMG2664.thumb.JPG.b00beb92581f4bcb1313dcd93176748e.JPGKIMG2663.thumb.JPG.81f00aab79cb919391879fcd91761455.JPG

I also have the bolt-on parts.  PM 880joe and keep me in the loop..

F.Y.I. this is NOT a rattle can rebuild.  I measure the journals, and conter bore depth and I also dress the counter bores and shim the liners. These liners are within .002" across the deck. I also have all my notes on paper from diss assembly through reassmbly. The heads are spot on as well.  Just a little insight on this one. Jojo

I don't know that he needs an engine. But I do know that I needed an engine with similar symptoms. Liner low caused overflow reservoir to push water out, water in oil caused crankcase to plug up with snot looking water/ oil mixture then that caused oil filter housing breather to leak because it couldn't breathe out the blowby. That was my experience in the past
