Have a question about the tranny mounts that bolt to frame. They have the rubber buffer inside them. I have an odd sound coming from tranny sounds like a pickup with worn out ball joints creeking inside truck. Only when driving. I jacked up tranny and both mounts move up with it. I assume there suppose to move some. Is there a way to know for sure they have to much play in them? This just started about a week after a new clutch and remack tranny was installed. Thanks in advance for any help!!

Too bad they weren't checked when the trans was out. If you have the diamond shaped mount they are huck bolted in the frame and you have to remove the battery box and air tank mounts and i think the inner fender mounts as well. Its been a while for me. Of course, we dont know the year and model of your truck.  I assume you have a volvo frame.

i never measured them. they were usually obviosly broken. there is some space for movement.  youll know it when they go bad. do you see shinny metal edges or any signs of rubbing..?
