Have you ever paid to restore a truck or bring one back to life for daily use that has been sitting for years? Spend the money up front or spend it later. You would be amazed how financially deep it becomes. From where I sit and my experience $25 - $30,000 for a totally rust free, mechanically sound, currently working, vintage truck with the "correct specs" is a good price if that is the route you are set on going. Because to pull a $5-10,000 truck out of someone's weeds or barn and give it what it needs mechanically to be operational again adds up so fast it will scare you. That doesn't even consider cosmetics and a paintjob. And then you still don't know how reliable the major components going to be. I agree the first one I posted ($80,000 I think) is ridiculous. Plus I doubt and savvy business owner would put an E9 on the road for revenue generation in this day and age. However, assuming that black '87 is a 4V E6, at $30,000 seems like a fair price IMO. I certainly wouldn't write it off just because of the price. Its worthy of seeing in person and making a judgement from there if your looking for a Superliner to work daily......Just sayin

I've had multiple friends that have restored Multiple trucks and I'll stand by my logic all day. IMO Restoring will make alot better memories and a Story line then just going out an paying a ridiculous amount for something and slapping a sleeper on it and saying this is our truck that we built. (There's enough hypocrisy in The Show truck /Working truck world as it is) I'm not about that Scene. We shall see. 😌

An old thread gets on my mind of how JT Formula was bringing GMC General to running condition. He made that but found multiple troubles and put notable efforts. Something like "GMC General near abandoned house" was the name of the thread. I may search for it later when have a bit of time.

Ton of wisdom and experience in those two lines.

The dreams of a company driver rarely align with the business model of the company owner.

Actually it's more than a Dream when the company is right in line with the idea that will promote the Company and the driver....But then again what do I know I'm evidently just a dreamer out here playing Old school truck driver and evidently All my Friends that have been at for 30-40yrs unfortunately some have passed due to Cancer etc Were lying to me and just Stroking my ego when they told me I was an old school trucker in a new school world and a Damn good one at that. I guess I was just dreaming about being around this industry and trucks my entire life and Learning the business from My own grandparents and countless other's....Wow So evidently my whole career of the past 19yrs driving over 2million miles etc...Is just a farse... I guess maybe when I finally retire etc then maybe my experience etc will be Valid and I won't be just a dreamer....This group sure has changed since I first arrived on this forum...I asked for thoughts and Ideas....But all I've gotten is basically told I'm too young to know what I'm talking about and my experience is basically Nothing...Sure wish my Grandpa was alive atleast and my friend Troy...Atleast I'd have 2 people that believed in my experience and would say it was valid....

That's alright Evidently I've got no idea what I'm doing or talking about and have my head in the clouds....

Don't be mad because 67R spoke the truth, and I concur.  If you haven't run a trucking company or any company for that matter, you don't know what it takes to do so.

If your bosses want to spend the company money that way, I have no problem with it either. However, it is oft said in business, that the 1st generation builds the business, the 2nd squanders it and the 3rd (if it last that long) run it to bankruptcy.

It is easy to spend someone else's money, hard to justify if it is your money.

Again, if they want to do it, more power to them, if I were you, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Duck.... These guys are wise and honest. I dont see it as a personal attack.

If the brothers are actually going to do this, that would be awesome for sure.  Will you be helping with the mechanical work ? If so, that adds more pride.

I don't know my man. Sorry you feel attacked or in some way invalidated. If you buy a $5-10,000 truck with the intention of doing what you say then you are going to end up spending $30,000 or more by the time its all said and done anyway while loosing copious amounts of time doing so. That is all I'm saying. Do whatever you wish with that information.

Yup....Spent hours learning what it takes to run my own truck or company from My Grandpa and countless other's that have been successful at it Sure have... So I aint mad at 67R.I just came back at a person like yourself that really has no idea about me or my life experiences 🙃.  So go sit on a Cactus and rotate 360 degrees...

Ain't mad. It's just I've seen countless other people basically doing the same thing that me and my company would possibly be doing and they git all the support etc positive comments and hey it's gonna be expensive but it's worth it etc. Just don't understand is all....I know what it takes and what it will cost etc but I'm willing to do it that way and enjoy the ride and the memories especially with a company willing to invest in me.

Coupla points, watching someone else run a company is not the same as having all on your shoulders. Helpful, yes, but not the same. Having carried the burden successfully myself, I know how many hard choices and long nights it takes be successful.

Getting 3 brothers to agree on anything in business is going to be difficult to impossible, but more power to you if it works out.

Loose the cactus comments. People here are giving you had learned wisdom, if you don't want to hear it, fine, but don't attack the messenger.
