The wrong pinion on the starter motor

The wrong clearance on the starter motor pinion to ring gear

Ring gear is badly damaged in one spot and this binds on the pinion

Starter shaft has no grease on it from new and is binding on the shaft

Start solenoid on the fire wall sticking?
