Popular Post Freightrain Posted October 6, 2023 Popular Post Share Posted October 6, 2023 So I was at R-R Mack at lunch picking up a new gasket for my 237 turbo. It was just leaking a touch and you could just hear it chirp as it was building boost. I pulled it last night and the gasket wasn't hateful, but the two surfaces were pretty pitted so I spent quite a bit of time with a large flat file getting them back to "cleaner" condition. Anyhoo, as I waited my turn at the counter this fellow was looking for a treadle for his truck. The parts girl(nothing wrong with that) was stating Mack had ONE in the system and wasn't too sure if that one even existed. He then asked the price and she then made me go "HUH?". Ya, retail was $10,000 for the treadle................and it was marked at $5800!!! For just a treadle? Geezus, wow!!! He pasted on that purchase and got a drain for his air tank and left. I then asked what it was for. I assume an R model or sorts. Nope..............a Midliner!!! Oh, now I see why it was a $10,000 part. The girl says ya, they just won't get rid of them even if you can't get parts for it. I got my $18 gasket and left happy. They aren't just copper anymore, they are multi layer stainless. other dog Posted October 6, 2023 Share Posted October 6, 2023 When I drove that T660 with the PACCAR engine it went through 2 turbos after it got backed into on the ramp in Pa. that time. The turbo was $6,000 for that engine, but the warranty covered them. Took 2 failures for them to figure out that the pipe in the grill had a hairline crack in it from when the guy backed into me. Draggin Wagon Posted November 6, 2023 Share Posted November 6, 2023 Last year fertilizer got stupid high because of the Russia-Ukraine crap. went down some in fall. This spring it went up again because of the early dry spell in April. Everybody was wanting to plant but the distribution points had not gotten stocked up - therefore we had a shortage. Prices started declining end of June. Lord only knows what the next crisis will be to send them up. I hauled nearly 3 times the fertilizer this year as I did last year. Not a very good growing season this year so the farmer takes it in the butt again. Bean yields are down but moisture content is not bad. We haven't been able to get into corn yet because moisture is way high, just doesn't seem to dry down very fast.
