Then they said I could take the Superliner!! I had it fired up, went to do my pre-trip, and discovered it had a flat. So not all bad. I got a CL with an E9 500 V8. It was so nice to drive something with a throttle linkage and instant throttle response again! And to be able to turn out onto this hill at the bottom, grossing 150,000 pounds on a tandem! and UPSHIFT all the way up into 2nd gear in high range, putting a cloud of coal into the atmosphere with every upshift!!!! And surprisingly it rode very smooth even with solid rear walking beams and big springs with rubber blocks in the steer axle. 5 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Loads are 40 to 50 tonne. That truck pulls like it's not even loaded. They use those trucks so they can fit underground to load. They don't go all the way in. There is a bigger portal that only goes in a few hundred feet and that's where the ore and waste is elevated too. Plus they haul 20 KM from mine to mill over some pretty steep and long hills.
