Actually on the eastern half of the island there are quite a few farms, vineyards, nurseries and pine barrens etc. It's rather nice. The western half is endless suburbia, and traffic though.

Yep sadly they are getting rarer at municipalities too. The town of Greenburgh NY had quite a few they were also manual shift. I used like hearing them cleaning snow but they are being phased  out for newer Granites. That might still a one or 2 RMs though. One driver told me he preferred the old RM to the newer trucks even though the newer ones are automatics,
