Can someone explain to me what the difference is between regular 44s and anti sway? Someone told me me it was 55 springs on 44 housings, but I don't know if this is true. j hancock Posted December 26, 2016 Share Posted December 26, 2016 Haven't heard "anti sway". Does it have a transverse torque rod? A couple of pictures would help. Mack runs two torque arms between the two diffs parallel to the frame. Depending on specs, there would be a third torque arm running perpendicular from the rear diff to the outside frame rail and that is a transverse torque rod. Thanks, Dave Don't know about 44s but in 50k and 65k anti sway means thicker spring leafs. Regular springs have the 3 bottom leafs in the spring box. Anti sway only has 2. Mack 44,000lb "anti-sway" rear spring in lieu of the standard 38 rear spring and was designed for loggers and other high center of gravity applications. Anti Sway springs all have a slot in them. Supposed to stop or limit side to side movement between leaves. The torque rods are also bushed differently. Timmyb Posted December 27, 2016 Share Posted December 27, 2016 I read a post earlier from this site regarding 38k anti sway. Was told they are near 44k capacity. So it might ring true for the 44k anti sway being close to 50k. Best to check your spring for a part number. 44k anti sway is 4QK4005A. You will find it on the T section at the end of the spring.
