Well I dont know what else your going to use Kiwis and Aussies call that metal not sure why but thats what its call or maybe gravel as well

Paul in the states we just use a coarse sand but I didn't realize that sand isn't abundant here and you are right it is called road metal :)

Used for traction or for surfacing?

Do they sweep it up and re use it?

It get's swept up and goes to the reclaim pile

At least it looks much better than salt.

Hope they use it on ice roads and not everywhere.

Vlad ice and snow is what gets the grit. Here when we get a hard frost the road will be slick and the grit trucks are out. Nice picture!
