Nissan Patrol & Ford Maverick

yeah they werent a bad bomb in there day commonly known as the beached whale model due to there body shape fat mudguards and flares had no full floating back axle so were not as tough as a Land Cruiser of the day and the overdrive was a bolt on to the back of the main box and gave trouble if towing big loads but all in all were a pretty good little buggy

Ford re badged them as Mavericks Nissan sold Ford utes as Nissan's Holden's were sold as Toyota we all got a bit mixed up back then badge engineering we used to call it

Wife had a 1974 FJ55 Land Cruiser, 6 cylinder ,stick damn tough 4x4 The six looked like a 50's GMC engine. It went every place my Jeep J-30 did with out any strain. Rotted out badly though.

those old petrol six's were a copy of a chev blue flame six only built to metric equivlents and bolts were tough and simple had to do with after the war and the US helping to get them going again Japan took the ball and ran with it thats for sure

Entire drive train looked old GM style.

Now NASCAR Toyota's runs license built, old style push rod Chevy 350 V-8 .

Paul, this one is a auto but no worries so far. Got it stuck on the beach but figured it out, lots of fun!

would have to agree just a lot more frilly crap and shag pile they dont spend as much time working hard as they used to
