Mack Titan Comming To The Us ?

I log on to www.macktrucks.com this morning and the first thing I noticed was a banner that says "TITAN by MACK" comming soon. :blink:

Will this be a MACK TITAN like the Australian models, or will it be based on the Mack USA Granite Platform ???

Nice for MACK to have its BIG HAULER here to compete against other trucks.

i BLOODY hope we ( in Aust ) get the MP10 donk, tho i did ask when i was at my local mack dealer regarding my looking at a new TITAN here ..an was told not in imediate future ..:( would LOVE to know the pricing ova there on 600hp TITAN as i was roughly ( still waiting on paperwork to come thru ) about Aust $ 380.000............

Will be very interesting to see what the US Titan specs up like compared to the Aussie titan. They have earned their stripes here and generally get used on triple road train / high gross tonnage work and not always on highway. On the triple work you can pretty much narrow the field to either Titan, Kenworth C501 or T604, Western Star Constellation (not many though), and a couple of International Eagles. And nothing with under 525 hp, usually 550 or better. And the Mack boys love their Titans! like I said, be interesting tosee what shows up as a Titan in the USA.

hey guys to-morrow is the first day of the show than it will be released we are ther at saterday whit 17 poeple from the netherlands and make a round trip in the area and next week we fly to louisville to see the release overthere i hope we have some pictures to-morrow evening on this forum its showtime by mack greetings rene :chili::chili::chili::MackLogo:

Hey guys - I'm in Vegas too.

Two things. The new Titans in Oz are not the square ones some of you are showing. There is a new one - looks are more refined and less square. Go to the Mack trucks Au sight and look at the new breed tour and the different locations, they show the new launches -

2nd - I was walking around the convention center yesterday and ran into some Mack guys. They say the "unveiling" isn't going to be until Wed March 12. They're gonna tease us on Tuesday. I hope you guys are staying more than a day.

the have posted some pictures on there press site but we cant look yet i tryed but i get no pictures there are pictures off the titan exterieur and interieur and there are pictures of the new rawhide but i think we must wait till to-morrow stay tuned and have your cameras ready greetings rene :mack1:

A Look as Big as the Truck:

The Titan model is dressed to impress on the jobsite and the highway. It has a commanding stance, with high ground clearance to power through conditions found in logging, mining and construction sites. Its long hood gives the 16-liter Mack MP10 engine plenty of room to breathe, while the cab is moved back and up on the chassis for the classic “heavy haul” position and excellent driver visibility. The higher cab position also improves airflow for underhood cooling.

The most stunning exterior feature of the Titan by Mack model is its twin cowl-mounted “Growler” air intakes. The bright-finish air intakes are as functional as they are eye-catching, and provide several advantages over external air cleaner assemblies. Powered by the New Mack MP10:

The heart and soul of the Titan model is the new MP10 engine, the most powerful Mack engine ever installed in a Mack vehicle. Certified to the US’07 emission standards, the MP10 is an inline six-cylinder diesel, with single overhead cam and high-pressure fuel injection. It will be available in three ratings, with peak horsepower of 515 hp, 565 hp and 605 hp, all with the MaxiCruise® torque rise. Maximum torque ranges from 1,860 lb-ft to 2,060 lb-ft at 1200 rpm.

The MP10’s huge torque gives Titan by Mack the grunt to pull heavy loads from a dead stop on a jobsite, and the power to get those loads up to speed on the highway. These are typical conditions for applications such as logging, mining and equipment haulers.

The Titan model’s long and strong hood protects the MP10 engine, and provides plenty of room to make service easier for technicians. The cooling system is sized to handle the heaviest demands and the harshest conditions found in North America. And the twin Growler air intakes make sure the MP10 breathes easily.

The Titan by Mack Cornerstone chassis is offered in three frame rail thicknesses – 8mm, 9.5mm and 11mm – with optional full or partial 5mm inside channel reinforcements, and application-specific crossmembers. Frames are rated at 120,000 PSI, and 2.12 million RBM (lbs. in.) to 4.26 million RBM (lbs. in.).

A short 41-inch front axle position increases load capacity, while providing outstanding maneuverability in tight jobsite conditions. The combination of the Titan model’s front axle position and high ground clearance also gives drivers an excellent approach angle for the sharp inclines and uneven terrain frequently found in logging and construction.

Front axles and suspensions are available from 12,000 to 20,000 lb. capacity, while rear axles and suspensions are offered from 38,000 lb. to 65,000 lb. capacity.

At the same time, drivers will experience a “highway ride” even when off-road, courtesy of the Titan model’s new air-ride cab mounting. The cab is mounted on twin wide-spaced air bags with shocks to neutralize the harsh bumps found in the vocational world, while stabilizers prevent cab sway. So while the truck soaks up the rough stuff, the driver stays comfortable, rested and productive.

Still a watered down version of a REAL Titan. And can anyone please tell me why Mack trucks USA in their infinite wisdom don't use the full height "stack" air intakes like we have in Australia. I know you have conditions in Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico similar to here. And before anyone gets cranky with me, the 2008 Australian Titan is a watered down version of a real Titan too!

Agree with your points on the Titan Chris, but my question would be WHY dont we get the MP10 ??????????? was told in Adelaide mack that wont be for some time before we get that :( meantime we get CUMMINS ,oh ran into Eddie Holland this week , ( brought down my ACCO from Darwin ) have u seen up close an personal his R750 ? gotta post some pics on here of it !! think US boys would get a kick outta seeing it !!

Yep, saw it every week when I was doing Adelaide - Darwin for 3 years. Very neat unit. He won truck of show quite a few years ago now in Darwin, then had it broken into on the same day and most of his gear stolen. Some nice low lives about. And yeah, why no MP10. Got the same story from Mack in Adelaide. Personnally I am thinking it has to do with our emissions laws as we are following the euro standards.

If you look at the latest photos you can see the US air intake cleaners have a tube that extends downward and into the side so adding the verticle air intakes is a no brainer. I bet the could be specd if you wanted, or if thay arent availible order a set from Australia and put them on yourself.

Yes, Thaddeus, had a close look at that. I gather then that the air cleaners are still under the side of the cab then, that's where they are on our titans. Even so, I agree you should still be able to mount stack air intakes relatively easily. Only thing is the cost being prohibitive for the genuine article. But I guess some people will have that sort of money, and I hope to see some US models with them fitted.
