Classic And Antique Mack Chassis

Recommended Posts

I got these from someone who was in Allentown last week, some nice pictures of some old trucks. The first two are for Mike, who was asking about pogo sticks in another post.

From his report the new Customer Center is very nice. He also said the assembly plant was something to behold, with no room for error. It must be pretty amazing to see a quantity of trucks on display with this kind of quality.

Nice A model sleeper cab. I've only ever seen pictures. I am curious though, what is that behind the Bulldog hood ornament? It looks like a radiator cap but the A's are under the hood kinda in the middle but on the driver side,is this an oddball?

The A models with a Lanova Diesel had the external radiator cap. The truck is probably an A-50 series. I'm currently trying to purchase one that is a sleeper cab.

Thanks for the comments on the Blue AK6. This was done at the Mahan Collection shop, which consists of Jack, Brian and myself. We are curently working on 2 other AK6's as well as an AC oil tanker, and just finished the Marchello R model.

The A-54 is mine, and that is the rad cap behind the bulldog, it has an EN-510 engine and 9 speed duplex. I also have an A-50T, 3 A-40's, and an A-30.

The AK engine is called a BK, Don't know why exactly, just the series number. Dual ignition wasn't just in fire trucks, it was stock in this application. The crankcase and pan are aluminum, the block (or cylinder jugs) are cast iron. The heads are the same as AB engines.
