You may need to change to the smaller diameter on the outside (same as rear) and use the fat nuts.

A noise from the rears can be transmitted to the trans. You wouldn't be the first to get into into the trans and later find a chipped ring or pinion.

Most owners aren't at their trucks while others are looking at them. In twenty plus years of truck shows I've never seen anyone mind a fellow enthusiast open their truck's door. Crawling on a fender with boots and a belt buckle is a whole nother story.
