  2. Hi, Here are a few pictures of my barn, this is where I keep my other projects. Lots of tractors. and I have 2 79 ford 4x4 one tons, 460 and 4 speed trans. Have a 63 ford galaxie with a 406, and a 66 fairlane with 390 4 speed ( hear that freightrain, I am a ford man too!!) I also been tweeking my 2000 f350, power stroke 6 speed. Fred.
  3. That is much thiner than the one on my b 73 when compaired to each other, Do you think that it has been worn off over the years? I am a mechanic and I get into my truck with dirt and grime all over my hands all the time and I was looking at the steering wheel in my truck and compared to truck of the same year it is a lot smoother and thinner. just a thought Fred
  4. so, water is the answer, I will give it a try. I was kinda scared of the amount of air pressure that would be reqired to move a dent that big. Thanks Fred
  5. I have a round alum. fuel tank that has been dragged on the ground. The tank is kinda flat on the bottom. It has a step in it so I want to try and keep it. I was thinking maybe put some air pressure in it and it would help make it round again. Any ideas?? Fred
  6. I am going out Utah the second week of sept. I would like to take something out that way to counter the costs of fuel, I could haul truck or tractor, using a 32 ft. dual tandem gooseneck trailer, let me know if we could help each other out Fred
  7. User's Screen Name: hpgtowing Buyer or Seller: Seller Item(s) Purchased or Sold: Parts Truck Date Purchased or Sold: December 2004 Experience: Positive Shipping: Picked up item Comments: About christmas I bought a parts truck from steve at highpoint towing, It was an old firetruck and what I needed was the cab. I talked to steve and price was set, and I sent him the money, I got a guy to come a get the truck and he even helped get the old truck on the trailer. He even let the driver that picked up the truck sleep in the office from what I was told. The truck was just as he told me, the price was very fair, I would say everything turned out as good as it could. Thanks steve!!
  8. Hi, My b61 is the same way, it started out with the 711 and now has a 673 in it, from what I was told the 711 blew head gaskets. A mack mechanic from back in the day said the 711 ment that you drove them for 7 days and worked on them for 11. I dont know for sure but mine has been changed at least once. Fred
  9. thats a good looking truck, I just bought a b73 and It has a tahograph ( or what ever it is) in it, what is this thing used for? Its a b73 1960 model. It has a 220 cummins, you say that that box in the middle of the dash is there from the factory? I have sent in to the meusem for info on my truck. I am curious. Was the power steering very popular in the b73? I would think that big of a truck would steer pretty hard. Fred
  10. Hi, I see that you just couldn't pass up the fire truck! I am planing on going out your way 2 week in september, are you going to be home? anyway I have used zip strip on that stuff before and worked great, the chrome is hard enough that it wont etch and the paint just curls right off, you might have to use a plastic scraper and reapply some more stripper to get the rest off. Fred
  11. charlie, does your truck have a vacuum brake booster? vacuum wipers? and that vacuum cylinder that turns on the big waterpump on the fire aperatius? other than that the motors should be close to the same as the 707, I still have all those mounts on my firetruck and the ones on the frame to mount the trans. If you need that stuff call me. Fred
  12. I could take a picture of my door hinges would that help? Fred
  13. How goes the 5 hole rim project? havent heard anyting for a while. I would like to see this happen. Fred

  15. Great news! I'm gald you are all ok now. When I had back trouble I couldn't do anything. You will have to put air ride on all those trucks of yours now!! lots eaiser on the tail bone. Fred
  16. Yea, thats what I thought, why screw with a good thing. The engine runs good the way it is and its only 170 hp. I guess thats why we have the 15 and 20 speed transmissions for! I am going to check all my pump settings though. fred

  20. Hi, drove the old b61 around and put a trailer on it, The truck has a 673 N/A and the engine runs good but, not much power and hardly any smoke. I might have a injection problem. has anyone turned the pump up on these? I would like to try and see what happens. fred

  22. This truck has the 707 gas engine, also has 6.14 rear gear ratio, You are right that not too many diesels have 5 speeds with the thermodyne engines. Unless you are going to pull totally maxed out loads, I think it will work ok. This trans has no overdrive, this will have closer gear ratios that say the maxi torque trans that was with the maxidyne engines, I could get the ratios for this trans for comparison. Fred
  23. I have a tr67 5 speed trans thats in a b model, Its for sale,or trade? has 16,000 miles total on it, no overdrive. I am in SW Indiana. call 812-381-0983 anytime. cj5fred@aol.com Thanks Fred
  24. OH no its true, the next big thing.... bulldozers.... I supose I will have to get a lowboy trailer now to go with the truck. HA HA.... Fred
