  1. Hi, I seen a f model at Illiana truck parts the othe day. Its in terre haute In. the dog was still on the truck. Fred
  2. Hi, I think the starter will clear the steering box. I pulled the engine out of a firetruck with a 707 gas and the starter was by the steering box. The 707 has the large bellhousing and basic deminsions of a 711 diesel, but the starter is on top instead of on the bottom. It was a very tight fit but the starter fit. Fred
  3. Hi, and welcome. I noticed the 351 pete you have from the duel movie, The first time I seen that movie I wasn't to old and scared the crap out of me! maybe thats why I collect Macks now. I thought that truck was in California somewhere?? anyway thats a neat old truck, I would like to look it over some day. What kind of drive line does it have? You and Trent sould get along just fine, his truck looks alot like the rubber duck. Fred
  4. I wonder how many airplanes have tried to land in that guys front yard??
  5. HI Here's one for you. What does thermodyne mean anyway? or Maxidyne? I know that any motor Mack made at that time was named that, gas or diesel. Was it just a name, like triton in the new fords and vortec in the chevys? Fred
  6. thanks Mike, I noticed that the radiator specs on the turbo charged ( b-733) and the supercharged ( b-77?) trucks had much larger radiator specs. I thought that at first the cast fronts were on these trucks, and later on made all of the 70 series with cast fronts. Just a theory, I didn't know for sure. I am still looking for the page and page suspension, I am thinking about a air ride set up now that I can find an original. Thanks Fred
  7. HI, I noticed that the b733 on e-bay has a front grill like a b-61, My b 73 has a large radiator. I seen in some of the books from Mack with the smaller grille on the 70 series trucks. The ones with the turbo show having a larger radiator. Any one got an answer? Fred
  8. Is alcoa the only people that make wheels??? try some one else, see what happens. Fred
  9. Hi, I noticed this little project kinda died, I was looking through my wheels of time show book the other day , the one with all the pictures from aubrun. I found a truck that had the original style 5 holes on the front and modern rims on the rear that were five hole. I will try and get a picture Fred
  10. Hey superdog. thats great!! now I got to find one to put under my truck... If anyone here can help me out get a hold of me! I haven't seen any of these in my neck of the woods. Thanks Fred
  11. ok Paul, Looking forward to talking to you. Fred
  12. Hi, I am always willing to help out any Mack fan. Is your truck a 673 or a 711? I have a couple of extra pumps and injectors around I could have them rebuilt and sent your way or you could send yours to me and I could drive them down to the guy and have him fix them, or I could get his number and give it to you. I dosent matter to me. Just let me know if I can help you out. Do you have a camera?? We would like to see some photos of your truck. before and after shots are always cool. here lately all my photos are of the before veriety. ha ha. somehow I started with one truck and within a year I now have 7... what happened? I get anymore I will have to get a kennel permit ... ( yea thats a bad joke but were all friends here) Fred
  13. thats what I like to hear, another truck saved from rusting away. What part of the country are you from? I take all of my pumps and injectors to Joliff diesel here in southern Indiana. He is real good. He always like to see the old pumps thats on the 711 and 673. they are so big he has to walk in to one and look around, maybe take a chair along incase he gets tired, or so he told me with a big chuckle. good luck Fred
  14. hi, I would guess that the pollution laws in aus. are not a tuff as in the U.S. I would make it easer to test trucks with a limited amount of options and drivlines. Less choice less testing, Thats just a theory though. Fred
  15. Hi, I have one of each on my trucks, between the air and the hydraulic I prefer the hydraulic. The pump mounts just after the air compressor, so I can run a alt. instead of a generator. I sent in several specs and made some sketches for parts for the air-o-matic power steering for fella in New York. He said that he was going to make a kit for the Bmodel. I ever heard anything form him sence, I suppose the project got put on the back burner for now. I do like the air-o-matic because the hydraulic power steering leaks. I have rebuilt the whole thing and still has a leak, It is the nature of the beast. The air system makes all kinds of cool sounds when it turns. The biggest problem with the air system is the front end of the truck cant have any play in it. Fred
  16. Hi, Thanks for all the replies, That makes sence because all of my other trucks are 63 or older, the b75 that I was looking at is a 65 model, with 34,000 pound bogie. So superdog... had time to look at that page and page suspension for me yet??? Thanks Fred
  17. Hi, I got all of my b 75's home and started looking them over, On the rear bogie of one of them it has 5 spoke dayton wheels. The front axle is 6 spoke. all my other trucks are 6 spoke too. Is this normal? It has mack cast on them. Fred
  18. hey superdog, Thanks for the help, I sure could use some on this project. I picked up two b 75's this last weekend in Kentucky, One looks like it can be restored and the other one is mostly parts, lots of stuff missing off of it already. I noticed that the frame on the b 75s are different than the b73, the 73 frame is almost 12 inches wide under the cab and the tapers down towards the tandems to a normal height. The b 75 on the other hand is the same all the way from under the cab to the end. Yes if you would please take some photos of the suspension. If you come across an extra or know of someone that has one please let me know. I would like to make that truck like it was when it was new. by the way, this truck was a light weight model. The books say that the front bumper is aluminium, is the bumper the same other than the metal?? Would there be a good place to look for that suspension? other brands of trucks? Thanks Fred
  19. I been waiting for about two months for a package from the Mack meusem. Yesterday it came in, I have been tring to find out what was going on with the rear suspension on my newest arival, the b73sl. It now has a timken worm drive rear bogie with 7.45 ratio. I could see where the truck had been cut in two and the rear end of another truck scabbed on to the mack frame. The truck was originally equiped with a 5.08 ratio mack rears with a page and page kit. does anyone have a picture of the page and page set-up or have one for sale? I have the rears I need the suspension. thanks Fred cj5fred@aol.com 812-381-0983
