That's a good eye Mike! I thought I was the only one that noticed that! don't recall seeing many Macks with ceter point steering either, but I did have another picture of a G-Model so equipped.....................................Mark -

I'll be looking for it Al ! I saw this truck in person back in the 80's,but didn't get a real up close and personal look at it but IIRC it was on a Pete frame,air-ride and Cummins powered 400 I think?..................................Mark

That's pretty much the only way I run north from here (301-50-896) can't take 95 around DC anymore! nerves/patience ain't what they used to be Lol! lot less stress, traffic etc. just wish they'd go ahead and raise the speed limit on 301. Almost always stop at the WAWA in Middletown,DE going and coming........................................Mark

I had forgotten all about this truck! this guy used to park at the 76 (T/A now) in Paulsboro,NJ my Dad set him up with a few loads of produce out of Vineland,NJ! IIRC,this thing was Cummins powered, believe it or not that hood was made from two pete 377? hoods? I have often wondered what happened to this truck, nice guy that ran it too! A real study in backyard engineering!...............................Mark

I do remember reading a story some time ago, where a radio station (somewhere in the mid-west I think?) put away a 1958 Corvette roadster in a "time capsule" (cinder block building) to be opened by the winning ticket holder (if still alive,or his decendants) in the year 2000, sure enough they opened up the "vault" and the car had been almost completely ruined! seemed the bomb shelter had leaked, and the car had been sitting in 3 feet of water for all those years! Wish I could remember where I read the article,Hemmings Motor News maybe?......................................Mark

Radiator cover's not all beat to shit either!..........................................Mark -
It always amazed me as a youngster how they would show Will or Sonny driving the truck (with BOTH hands planted firmly on the wheel) and the soundtrack/background would be the sound of changing gears!.............Overdrive Retro re-ran a story from 1974 on the show and interviewed Claude Akins about trucking and truckdrivers..........and as far as I can tell, there are two schools of thought on what ACTUALLY powered their KW! first story says the original W-925 was a VT- 9-0-nuthin' (my Dads favorite description) (903) Cummins in the pilot episode, and when the show was "picked up" the upgraded W-925 a V.I.T was an NTC-350 Cummins...............................Mark

It is truly sad what Mack has become in the past few years,i think the word I'm looking for is "figurehead" of what it once was?.......................................Mark -
That's really something Trent! and some nice work too! that will be neat to see when its done! I have a similar project (though not quite as ambitious!) I have one of these RC toys I have taken apart with the intent of making a version of my 1:1 CX out of it,basically just paint and detail, but im still working on the fairings for the lower body....................................Mark
