High Point had some of the coolest Macks over the years for sure.Wonder if he still has the B61 wrecker after all the smoke cleared?
I remember seeing trucks for sale their some years ago, when you say the smoke cleared, what happened? terry

Best advice I can think of is get rid of the Volvos.
-
I agree, if electronic tach...likely an electronic engine.
I have driven a DM with electronic speedo and tach with no electronics on the engine. terry

looks really straight and solid
Mike did you end up with that B71 from from Keith Thummels? Not sure of my spelling, I believe it was all there but the cab. terry

Does the price include truck and trailer?

I am going to get a scolding from you guys but I will tell you how the shop I worked in and the trucking family trucking company that grew to 50 macks over 50 years lifted engines. We made a pair of plates that consisted of 3 holes each spaced to fit the valve cover bolts and a lifting bale welded on. I swear you would not think it to be enough but we picked hundreds of engines using 6 valve cover bolts with the covers still on and never hurt a single one.
I have lifted many mack engines this way with no problems whatso ever. terry

oh boy. Is there a U600 emblem on the cab? You think he could be so lucky !

12 spd, the 13 spd will be worked on about 3 times to the 12 spd !

Inside looks pretty impressive for a 88 model !

How does the cabover ride with the camelback springs? Terry

Best darn tranny ever made period!
I can second that, had one in a DM dump, with 4.17'sand the pump set for 2300 RPM's, it was a real runner. Terry

I do believe there were factory E6 350's, but i'm sure somebody will know more.

I would leave the fender flares and put 385 floats on it.. would be a mean looking truck!! Them fender flares a definitley original. terry

Looking closer at the pictures, looks like a single frame, if it were heavy duty, I thought it would be at least double. I don't think i ever seen a B53 with a double frame unless it had some frame problems. terry

Isn't 77 early enough to have been replaced with a 711?Sure has the old style crankcase breather. Don't know if the early 237's had that style of breather. Terry

If you have trouble finding where to check trans. fluid in the automatic, you have to jack the car up and pull a plug, one of GM's better ideas !

I wish it was closer or freight was cheaper, anyone here want to go pick it up and bring it here??
Im a spoke hub fan but I can find some better classic rims for it.
Whats the tank behind the cab for?
The little round one is an old style P/S resevoir, looks like it is hooked to a bigger tank. terry

We ran/run R models with 350 6 speeds. just as good as the 350 12 speed combo except no stupid air stuff to deal with
That stupid air splitter was their best move ever! And I never seen a factory 350 with a six speed.

fxfymn must have miss read your first post. As far as I know the EN401/402 in the B42 is a Mack made Maxidyne engine. Some of the smaller trucks had continental made engines. There are not too many people running the gas jobs anymore, but there were a lot made and parts are still out there. I have 4 B42s and one B422, but the B422 has an overhead in it. I would keep the flat head gas for originality, but again it becomes a personal and economic decision. A non running, solid B42 is worth $1500-3500 in my opinion. They used to be $500-800 but are getting more scarce. Good luck. Mike
My first mack was a B421 with the flathead engine, does anybody know the 1 means in the B421 ? Terry

the right front fender wont swing out without removing the tw intake pipes, limiting sight to the engine tag. # on top of timing gear housing are not there? frame rail # are not there, maybe because of heavy rust? heres the tranny #'s x107 9h2968 11kba5936 bp13
X107 is extended range 6 speed.

Mark,
I've got a MH with all good rear end componenets, brakes springs, whole nine yards, all I'm going to have to do is unbolt each one, slide one out and slide other in. Soon as weather straightens up,shouldn't be more than a weekend job for a couple 3 thirsty helpers. If my painter don't charge anymore for this one than my Superliner,I'll have less than $8k in it total and that includes entire cost of the MH and 5 cases of Coors light.
That overdrive 12 spd with 4.17's makes a real good combo, especially if the engine RPM's are turned up. terry
A new batch of random Macks!
