  1. "That's right boys, this here mixer has only ever been run on days that end in Y. It can and will mix up anything that you put in it. ". I think you should add that to your sales speech. -Brad
  2. We looked at that when buying the mixers for our plant. Those 425's are not cheap. Is your Ford a Louisville? I don't think those are the worst kind of truck to have. What type of mixer is on it? - Brad .
  3. Glad to that Trent was able to help a few people out moving parts around. I heard today that Mayor Tiny Dancer (Rahm), would like to see the Super Bowl in Chicago. All that means to me is that Trent did not follow through with my request. Thanks a bunch. -Brad
  4. I always look forward to your pic's of the week. Thanks, Brad
  5. Load up the Democratic machine of Chicago, take it to Jersey and dump it in the ocean. Just a thought. -Brad
  6. We have 5 Macks in the Million Mile club. Some of the best damn trucks ever built. -Brad
  7. We just purchased a new to us wheel loader from a small excavator in the southern suburbs. Has been in business for 50 plus years. Since late 07' things have just been sliding downward. This was going to be the third year in a row that he was gonna take the money out of his pocket, loan it to the company, and hope he can make it back. He decided that at 76 years old, it probably would not be smart to try to wait this thing out. It was down to him and his nephews, they are in their late 50's/ early 60's. They are union, an operator cost him $75 an hour with benefits, and a teamster was $72 an hour with benefits. Now, I know that the going rate for a semi tractor with a dump trailer goes anywhere from $70-$100 an hour, you can't fuel, plate, insure and maintain a truck on $28 an hour. These are not the type of guys that helped get this country into the itis in. Thier equipment and trucks were very modest, and they didn't have anything that they really didn't need. They didn't help get us into this trouble, but they sure are feeling the effects. Really sad. -Brad
  8. Is this in jest? Sure, trucks have not been red tagged and the guns have not been grabbed, but regulations have been put into place at the federal, state, and local level that will make it easier some day to do both. Just how I feel looking out from my corner of the world. -Brad
  9. The 12 speed is coming together. Jared found a few more things that he needed. PAI has really come through on that project. -Brad
  10. Hopefully you will get see the RS's mixing concrete when you come by. -Brad
  11. Rob, I forgot to mention that we could make room for you over here. Problem is, we would put you to work. -Brad
  12. I have come to the conclusion that I can not drive every sweet ass R-model I come across. I would like to try too. This truck has an EM-7 300hp, Fuller 13 speed, on Mack rears with the older hendrickson style air ride. It also has air ride cab. The real cool thing is that it is set up with an air start. Very un molested truck. I also like the fact that it is an 81' year model, because I am also an 81' year model. I did noy talk to the gentleman that owns it, and he does not have his number on the for sale sign in the window. I do know that the truck was still on the road in March, because he was runnning the same route as we were at that time. -Brad
  13. With the right amount of work you should be able to get a title for anything that is supposed to have one. At least that has been my experience. -Brad
  14. Ditto! We have been kicking around the idea of a Pete rolling chasis. I just really do not want a Pete. We have also been talking about bringing in one of our 95' CH's and doing a refurb on it. The idea there would be if it can be taken off the truck then it should be replaced. All mounts, hoses, valves, wiring harnesses, rubbers, fuse panal, overhaul motor, rebush front and rear susp., new paint, replace worn interior parts, get rid of ball and seat wheels and replace with unimounts. The truck we would start with has 1,200,000 miles on it and has not had the motor overhauled and averages 6 MPG. A lil better than our 06' Granites that average 4.5 MPG just a thought. -Brad
  15. Yes it is blue, Al. It has a lot going for it as far as I am concerned. As always, it comes down to time and money. -Brad
  16. "Holy Shit!" holy shit is right. That was also funny shit. We had a mack almost run away the day. The rack stuck on it, and it scared the guys a bit. -Brad
  17. That is what i remember the truck having years ago. My Dad was pretty sure it had a cummins. Thanks, Brad
  18. Thanks, Vinny. I had a handle on all of that. Just wondering what it had for a power plant when new. -Brad
  19. I looked at a R770 after church this morning. I know that it has been updated as far as motor and rears/susp. What I am wondering is, what did it leave that factory with as far as a motor. The VIN is R770ST1128. Thanks, Brad
  20. Just saw a few on eBay that are Remans for $3300.00. Might want to check it out. -Brad
  21. Sorry for your loss. -Brad
  22. I had a modern liturature class in high school. The teacher told the the class that Fart Humour was not funny. I told her that, maybe the problem is that you just don't get it. -Brad
  23. I have a mixer to chip out as well. -Brad
  24. I was in the office (my RD) one day and received a call on the dispatch line (my cell) from a concerned motorist. His compliant was that truck #40 was travling down I-57 and was throwing up to much spray (it was raining that day). "you ought to have a mist control system on that truck, all that spray coming off the tires makes me very nervous driving" I informed him that the truck has all equipment required by the DOT. He kept going on and on. I then told him if his driving skills were such that wet roads made him nervous, he should stay the hell home. Another time I had 2 different women call and say that one of our trucks was losing gravel off their load because the were not tarped. That of coarse meant the flying gravel had hit their windshield, and that I, the greedy, fat cat, business owner had to pay for it. Fact: I had 2 trucks working in that area that day. Fact: The unit numbers they called in were the trucks in that area . Fact: they were hauling corn out of the field and the tarps were only open on the empty trip back to the field. I thought it seemed odd to get 2 calls of this nature in about a 45 min span. I told the ladies that I would look into and get back to them. I asked for both of thier HOME phone numbers. Then I had my wife run the phone numbers and guess what???? They were neihbors! At that ponit I called one of them back at home and told here that her story didn't match up to the type of work we do. She then told me that I shouldn't fight cuz the insurance company will pay for it. Then I informed her that her neighbor had called in a busted windshield also, so my question to her was......did you two hatch this plan over drinks last night , or when you were waiting for the bus to pick up your bastard kids this morning? She told me I was an asshole and hung up. -Brad
