  1. FMCSA rules come first, sounds like a way to scam the company and the system! Boo hoo poor me. Take some repondsibility for yourself and the others you may kill or injure. Too many "disabilities" if you ask me. Your "disabled" if you drink, or do drugs, or a over weight or lazy. Get over it, it's not any bodies fault but your own. IMO another bum trying to get on the free money tit! Paul

  2. Yup, a friend of mine in a little "hole in the wall" town owns Arlen Vanke's altered 65 660 Dodge. Still has a hemi engine that was actually campaigned with Chrysler money too.

    Rob

Sure like to see that! "Akron Arlen" Vanke and "Arnie the Farmer" Beswick were heros to me in the 60's and 70's. My father ran a D/gas 55 chevy in the 60's that I ran on the street from the 70's til now, and I crewed on Marinos Italian Ices '72 Challenge A/fc. interesting cars than, not cookie cutter blobs like now. Paul

  3. My '28 has an early hood on ,with out the top access door and 10 louvers, which after doing research on your post I've learned its 1922 and older. I'm off to Hersey Pa. for the October swap meet. last year I found NOS pistons and gaskets for my AC engine there. I'll keep my eyes open for one that is good for your measurements if still needed or a pair of good ones. Paul

  4. you know thats very interesting,,,might be just the camera angle,,dont really care for that,,,was looking at a cherryed out 64 VWbus,,couple weeks ago,at a car show, this thing was absolutely immaculate,,but it was shortened way down,,,im not gonna say he ruined it,,,just dont see the point,,,you know its gotta be alotta work.bob

Altered Wheel base was pre Funnycar. Changed the center of gravity and was supposed to help weight tranfser, good for racing bad for street. (don't ask how I know)

  5. It's well worth the trip, and he's as nice a man as you'll ever meet, doesn't mind people looking. He'll even give you the tour if he's not busy. I heard about all the trucks from one of his drivers so I called him one day and he said come on by and look all you want.

I see he's past Bremo Bluff, The place I was thinking of with the trucks is just on the south sode of Fork Union on 15. Maybe thats the place your looking for? Paul

  6. Lots of wind and ocean ,but not much rain. My shop was under about a foot of water lucky I raised almost everything up. We never lost power, only cable........it just came back on. Paul

  7. I've heard rumors of such a place too, but I'm not sure where it is. I travel 15 quite a bit and there's nothing you can see from 15. You can turn off of 15 south of Fork Union to get to P.L.Duncans place, and he has about 100 or so old trucks, but i've heard there's another place too up in that area with a lot of B-models.

These are trucks I took pictures of at P.L.Duncan's a few years ago.

Thats got to be the place I heard about. P.L. Duncan! I heard about a "guy near Fork Union" who has a I.H. ConCo. Saw it in your photos. I'll have to look Mr. Duncan up when I'm down there in a few weeks.

  8. "their water tank emptied from the shakes"

Does this mean they pissed their pants?

    Probbly...their older the me.....

They are up by the junction of 6 and 15 near the Fork Union Animal Hospital. We found a few south of the town, near (Scotts autobody)about 3/4 mile into the woods. A yard full of older 50's cars and a B models and other trucks. I always heard of a big stash of old trucks near Palmyra but never could find them.

  9. We'er about 1/2 of a mile from the Atlantic on the edge of the Evac Zone. Moved the Truck and cars inland to a friends yard, boarded up the house and shop. Shut off the main breaker for all the power to the shop and hope for the best. The house is prepped as much as possible and the Gen and pumps are ready. So we'll hope for the best. The track shows Thaddeus getting the eye and we're 60 miles East getting the high winds. Paul

  10. ......From a senior citizen around 80 yrs. of age. We aren't useless yet.

    The Fix

There recently was an article in the St. Petersburg , Fl. Times. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on: "How Would You Fix the Economy?" I think this guy nailed it!

    Dear Mr. President,

Please find below my suggestion for fixing America 's economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the "Patriotic Retirement Plan":

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

    1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

    2) They MUST buy a new AMERICAN Car. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.

    3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!!

P.S.. If more money is needed, have all members in Congress pay their taxes..

Mr. President, while you're at it, make Congress retire on Social Security and Medicare. I'll bet both programs would be fixed pronto!

  11. I ended up locating a used Weldbild Industrial Carrier body, 22 feet long, 30,000 winch with no rails just pockets, so I can add sides for other uses. It was still on the F750 so I got to see it work and look for leaks and abuse. Aside from a few chaffed lines it is good shape. The Kubota dealer is trading it in to Weldbilt for a 30 foot body on a new Hino. Decent price including the install on my truck. Paul

  12. It's got road gears, about 25, if you dare on 60 year old rubber. it originally did 100% farm work, I picked up a hammer cutter and rebuilt it and made up the snow plow frame for a CJ2A plow and converted it to 12 volt. I still have all the attachments my pop bought for it too, including a sickle bar and a saw blade set up
