HO Penn Caterpillar, where my gran son works part time has one to haul their low boy for pick up and delieveries. Looks o.k. sounds o.k. but watching the driver go up the road with an automatic just ain't natural, probably a good tranny but I don't like automatic anything. Paul

Got to remember that when I get to my mixer. Paul

Opened up my Over Drive mag today, came sealed in plastic with an additional thing. Turns out it was a 2012 FrEiGhTLiNeR calender. Almost put it up in my yard office. Figured nobody would know, whats the harm? It's only a calender....I can take it down any time I want, and walk away.....I'm not addicted to Freightliners...I can quit! Tossed out and put up my Gaberalli Mack calender. I felt so dirty....Paul

Cheaper to just eliminate the back of the fender in the forming process than make different tooling, I'd figure. Paul

You wonder what the "H' goes through some ones mind to scrap something like that! Looks like a great save to me! Paul

I never thought there could be another one...

I think Paul nailed it. They look nearly alike, but the DE is really rare, I think Roy Moxley has one, but I can't come up with a picture. Here are two pictures I could find, but I think one is an E, and the red one is a DE.
Dave
The red one has single rear wheels, it's a 3/4 ton ED. 1938 to 1944 , 2686 made. There is one for sale on Craigs list in eastern Conneticutt now for $7000..........confusing letter call outs ain't it? ED is less capacity than a DE which is less capacity than an E...................

I was thinking the same thing on the hub or drum, they would both be constant and would also have gone away on light braking. Paul

Man that is one cool truck!!!! But yes I agree it looks like an E model
The DE was the light weight version of the EE, about 900 made over 4 years and most were U.S. Navy General Service units. The main difference aside from the 1 ton less capacity, was longer front fenders and trim, the power pack and 20" wheels. Paul

The Liberal Handbook instructions are to immediately label everyone as a "Racist" if they should dare to criticize Obama. Most who use that word can't define it.
You've got to admit...........most presidents are fun.....Ford tripping on ever thing, Bush tossing his cookies on the Japanese Prime Minister, Bill Clinton looking over the Korean DMZ with the lens caps on and how he kept losing his cigars, Bush jr. and the supermarket scanner, Reagan hitting the "launch" button instead of the snooze button.....They just are a wealth of puns.
Heck even Nixon had his moments when Pat caught him seated in a Pete.............

Nice!! Show it when you get all dressed up. Paul

I don't know what Mack parts would fit, but both GM and Ford in the late 50's to the early 70's ran a P.S. unit that was attached to the center link. If that would work it would not require the stock box to be changed. Only the P.S. pump, lines and push / pull cylinder to be added.
My B has Mack air assist steering probably adaptable to yours also. Paul

I try to help out some before the holidays.....that way I get more coal in may stocking.

With a bounce that bad, I'd think if you jacked the front wheels off the ground and spun them you see which one . Than I'd start at the tire and move in from there. Your suspension has been checked? Paul

Look at Gear Venders under drive / over drive set up. I believe you and get electric shift or a mechanical (twin stick) and button it up to a 4 ,5 ,o6 spped New Process gear box.
You could also look for a Brown Lippe Auxilery box for 40's/ 50's medium trucks. Paul

I read opinions and jokes on political issues, but I don't believe I've ever seen a gender, a racist or any religious comments or bias on here... ever. (unless it's about somebody driving a Pete)

My exhaust it already runs like that and my bed lift cylinders clear by 14+ inches. I ordered the tanks and added the 2 brackets are included for only $25 more. Paul
-
I figured on the exhaust. I was wondering about a third strap, figured I'd look at a few of the sand haulers tomorrow. Paul

Not certain but it's probably to clear the air filter can. Paul
