SKF is still making them Mech.. Speedy Sleeves.. I use the tin cup for small parts, i glue a magnet to the bottom of them, works great.

Bob, when you take yours apart, look at the sector shaft, and make sure the seal didnt cut a groove into it.. other wise you wil waste time and money, some shops can weld the groove and then turn it back down.. Jojo

Mp's and the other Mack engines are totaly different.. they are Volvo engines painted red..

Please follow my lead here... You have an ASET.the lifters have ceramic rollers.. if you run the valves wrong, you can crack a roller. Cam damage is instant when that happens. You also have power leash engine brakes, so those are done in a different order as well. I wish i had an extra book to send to you..

When you rune the valves, follow the Mack procedure!!! Dont do them like a Cat or Deere

the length of the injection pump as well as an Ambach if thats what you are going to use, because yours has a Robert Bosch inj. pump, matters for the fuel lines. does you fly wheel have the valve timing marks on it? if not, are they on the balancer, and do you have the 2 pointers on the front cover? if not, there is 2 round bumps on the front that would be drilled and tapped to mount the dual pointer. No biggie. I only did one of these conversions. I found a pump timing setting from my book, using the H.P. turbo type, and some luck.. My posting is not very professional, but when I finished the job, the truck fired up perfectly (after it was primed and ran-in for a minute) . it also had good power for the application. MR garbage truck with an Allison.. I dont know about the cam and any issues there, but I dont see why there would be one..

I started working in the shop at a Mack Dealership, in 2000, and took in all the knowledge i could. I had a natural attraction to that type of work.. i switched careers, 2+ years ago. I still build Mack engines at home in my shop.. but at a much slower pace.. I also have dozens of Mack svc. Manuals, and read almost all of them..

The wires for the flywheel sensor take a lot of abuse.every that flies off the steer tire hits them..

Isnt there a fuel filter at the right front corner on the fuel pump?

take out he cam when they break,, but that is rare.. just wondering why you were told to replace all of them..

have you looked at the 2 timing sensors.. a lot of money was thrown at this engine... EUP's wont cause a no start unless they 'grenade'... then its a cam job at the least..
