  1. why of course not changing the subject ::ready = the shortage of fed funds to Connecticut will stop the Connecticut construction trucks from running due to lack of payment.
  2. 11 million !! ; guess the 3 million from the feds won't go to far. BILLIONS can go to ukraine (for money laundring) "war effort" , but this country gets sh--.
  3. now that's a totally different switch for the blink blink . center dash had headlite/park light switch also a marker light switch . left of the steering column ; top corner was the blinky switch which was spring loaded. up was flash headlights; down was a blink of marker/ clearance lights. of course that goes way back when common courtesy ruled the roads among truckers.
  4. as the saying goes" pictures worth thousand words " ;; those pictures are more then a thousand words for me :: more like speech less. what a beautiful lookin piece of machinery. thanks for the photo.
  5. would not the temp sensor be a single wire harness while speedo should be a two wire ???
  6. another case of :: a picture is worth a thousand words. picture of cut wires/location / etc
  7. cab top corner clearance lights USE to be connected to marker light switch . center 3 went on with park/headlite switch; two outers WERE separate in event a problem occurred there would still be top lights. I don't have diagram or fuse number.
  8. hand primer was a major asset in a road call toolbox. especially when "cost cutting" started to eliminate them on newer units, or they were removed by a mechanic to put in his toolbox! LOL
  9. I saw that also ;;BUT I don't think its his truck. the tarp bar would have the tarp secured to it. that MAY be a height bar for those entering the hoper. ???? I enlarges the pic== might be on side/ behind ??
  10. wait till Bob gets done with the DM;; he will know more about fiber glassing then ever imagined. as you practice ,you are teaching yourself.
  11. another area to which the phrase ' practice makes perfect. a willingness to try and learn is the most important factor. watch someone all day long helps; get in there and do it is better.
  12. looks real good. where's location ? much different then days gone by. LOL major difference in size of "drive through". saw another teddy truck last week in Woodbury - blue cab ?? senior driver parked at charcoal chief ; taking a break maybe.
  13. a picture I do not have, sitting here brain cell working to remember exact set up. could almost say one set up was in the '65 #1 R model. which was the reason I started working there, some one did a rear brake job on it and did it wrong. bearings seized to housing tube to point rear housing had to be changed.
  14. check valve purpose is to keep filter full after shut down, with out it oil could back feed
  15. after all the conversation about this unit;; sure hope we are given a follow up .. after the install of transverse rod especially.
  16. we will let it go THIS time ;; you have an excuse ' blame it on the extreme temperate change Alaska to Nevada. LOL
  17. glad you had a great time and back safely . my younger sister has a son who lives or lived in Alaska . she's been there many times has nothing but good things to say about it.
  18. now if your set up had/has the seal in the axle cap it self then both inner and outer bearings were/are grease packed. there is a set up with the seal inside having outer bearing oil with inner grease. changed a few in the day to oil on both. then it was stemco seals with the axle spindle wear ring.
  19. in earlier set ups, the outer bearing was oil fed while inner bearing was grease packed. with proper seal (oil capable) being installed in wheel and elimination of the middle (intermediate )seal both bearings became oil fed.
  20. update on #3 ??? any positive info on the AMT B model 1/25 scale model yet ??
  21. that's what threw this ole man off;; I didn't know there was a changeover later years going from separate axle cap duel end splined axle set up to one piece flanged style (cheaper to manufacture) axle on the 44 range. THANK YOU for providing the info to expand knowledge.
  22. tiny radiator is basically a B model radiator and frame. early R's/DM's having small radiators will have the two side mounted "closed shutters" extensions taking up side gap.
  23. hopefully you have access to the donor truck if parts are needed. the 38's should have an axle with flanged end cap. 44's should have axle with splines on both ends with separate cap which attaches to the wheel , making the 44's tad longer and sticking out of wheel hub. easiest plan of attack have both axles =38 and 44 side by side. axle in to the rear end side gears might/ should be same spline count.
  24. the main reason Mack introduced the transmission with aux stick having low/direct/reverse on aux stick was due to the 5 speed maxi in a dump truck wasn't low enough for start out when loaded. But having a side mount PTO could not do operations such as asphalt spreading. the PTO ran off transmission gearing. to pull a spreader had to be 1st gear.. 1st gear PTO was too slow. 4/5th gear PTO worked but too fast to pull a spreader. too solve this issue the rear mounted PTO was developed which had constant speed. unfortunately, many driver took a liking to the new 7-8-9- speed transmission, which they weren't,
  25. when in doubt' after U-bolts are tighten/torqued ;; a big sledge hammer and a few "taps "to top of U-bolts. Then check torque numbers again , see if a difference. Always never seize threads. if not for later removal = a higher torque valve is a guarantee on lubricated threads,
