  1. I just had the same X-member replaced on my vision in October. Was keeping an eye on that hairline crack all summer. I was going to weld it myself til I pulled off the 5th wheel and saw the front side was cracked almost over the top to meet the rear. Glad I sent it over to Allentown Mack for the job; they put new huckbolts in just like from the factory, as well as the upgraded gussets. I ended up with a new 5th wheel too, as I discovered cracks in the slider plate once removed. Frameless dumpin' puts a lot of stress on these pieces, I suppose.
  2. Nice handiwork there, RowdyRebel. I plan to add a receiver to my cabover and this gives me some ideas. To expand on the subject a bit, can anyone offer some ideas on towing a trailer with electric brakes using an air brake tow vehicle? What type of brake control is needed for this?
  3. I'm with Larry on this one. Rob, it dun been deeleeted, you must be seein things. Maybe it's those hallucinogenic hot dogs. I sure would like to know what all the fuss is about. Only thing that happens when I squint real hard is somethin usually squeaks out the other end.
  4. Looks like my old Bulldog will have to learn a new trick! 65 in SLOHIO??? Niether one of us is gonna know how to act!
  5. I mostly signed up to learn, but hopefully I can help out here and there as well. I am still learning the site, so I appoligize in advance if I do or ask anything stupid. See everyone !around Welcome to the site, Robert. Everyone has something to offer as well as much to learn. Just remember there are no stupid questions, only the one that was never asked. However I am not saying you won't get a stupid answer once in a while...
  6. It don't make no sense in this day and age. Trucks are not selling due to the economy and now there is another reason to keep what you got. I don't blame the manufacturers, though. Government regulation got us where we are today, folks. Now we pay a premium price for an inferior, unreliable product.
  7. Welcome to the site, Pete! We are all able to help one another here. Nobody is an expert at everything but we all have something to contribute. Thanks for letting us know up front about your Polish heritage. I'll try to type real slow for you...
  8. You sure he was dead? Those possums play pretty good. Maybe he didn't have bus fare for the trip to Boston.
  9. Mightydog... Doesn't he fly like Underdog? Used to see him on all those dog food commercials.
  10. I just hope he isn't planning on turning in for fuel.
  11. Good looking truck seems to have been well maintained over the years. I'll bet that NH220 & straght pipe sing a sweet(albeit loud) song up through the hills!
  12. Read your other post regarding turbos. Mack can't (or won't) get me the bigger, better Schwitzer like originally came on my 427. The current replacement B/W is smaller with about 5 psi lower boost. I got warranty on the B/W and thank God I kept my Schwitzer didn't turn it in for core.
  13. I think I understand now what may be deemed acceptable to you. I have included a go/no go graphic for reference. The only other matter being paint residue. This may spoil the presentation to guests.
  14. Poor critter just worked himself to death trying to keep the lights on for you. The least you could do is bury the little guy.
  15. I would have picked this up for you but it was Monday and I lack adequate refrigeration to keep it all week. It would have been stinky before you even laid your fingers on it.
  16. The only advice I can offer on this subject is a negatory on the Borg-Warner. This is the one the E-TECHs have so much trouble with. I ran one for 144,000 miles till it came apart. Put my old reliable Schwitzer back on still going 800,000+ miles. Trouble is Mack won't sell you a Schwitzer anymore. All Borg-Warner now.
  17. Did you change just the nozzle? Or the electronic unit? If the ECU has been changed, then you need to have the dealer flash the engine computer to "learn" the new injector.
  18. Greetings, Michael! Lots of stories to be shared here, that's for sure. If you can believe them all or not is still up for debate. A perfect example is that guy right above me. Other Dog has been trying to convince us that there is actually some benefit to driving a Peterbilt. The only advantage I can see is that you can get a suntan on both arms! GET IT? Small cab? Both arms? HAHAHA LOL sometimes I crack me up!
  19. Rob, Have you ever considered expanding the menu at the "Road Kill Cafe" to include Chinese food?
  20. Check out my reply on the other thread "crank case pressure" for a possible cause. There must be a way to post a reply on 2 different threads, but I don't know how. I know more about trucks than I do about computers, but I am learning.
  21. On the newer E-tech engines there is a filter canister on the crancase breather tube that needs to be cleaned or replaced periodically. It is a wire mesh element, so it can easily be cleaned in solvent and re-used.I am not sure if the older E6 and E7 engines have this filter. It is located on the timing cover, lower right side, follow the breather tube and you will find it. If this gets plugged, crankcase pressure will find another way to vent, either the dipstick or the oil fill tube.
  22. Now that is cool! Why didn't we get to ride a Superliner bus when we went to school? Sorry you can't sleep, Thad. But thanks for the cool pic. The only reason I am up is due to that 4-letter word... gotta go to WORK!
  23. Rob, I don't quite understand. Why didn't you just let the trucks run out of fuel inside the garage? That would have saved you a lot of walking back and forth, not to mention wear & tear on the extension cord.
  24. Welcome to the site, NAPAMAN. Looks like you will fit right in here. Lots of good information here(as well as some bad) and plenty of good fellowship. It seems you have some experience to share as well.
