  1. I think the first Moffet had a Lister powering it. There wasn't anything wrong with the Lister I just liked Kubota products better I have owned a b2150, b7500, b6100, L3800 and a Mx5200 the last two loader backhoes I will keep the Mx around as long as I can breath very handy, for heavy lifting I have a Clark forklift rated for about 5,000 lbs. I used it to unload my Summit lathe the tcm 5,000 forklift from work wouldn't lift it but the old Clark lifted it off idle it did steer a lot better with that lathe on the forks
  2. I worked on Moffet and Princton Teledyne forklifts for about ten or so years I always spec'd them with Kubota engines I liked the Moffet's the better of the two brands. When I placed an order for two Moffet's I was offered the chance to go to Ireland to visit the factory the trip would have been free from the factory but I would have had to take the owner of the company and I didn't want to spend time abroad with that asshole pissing off the people of Ireland
  3. My excuse for slowing down other than my age is in 2022 a pickup pulled out right in front of me when I was riding my spider motorcycle I was doing about 40 mph. after two weeks in intensive care and two weeks in physical therapy I was able to come home in a wheel chair I had a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain, broken nose, broken jaw, knocked out a good share of my teeth, broken shoulder, broke all my ribs on the left side they stuck them back together with a mesh and screws, punctured lung, broken hip, broken a lower bone in my back I was told when the medics got to me I was more dead than alive I can't lay down I have to sleep setting up
  4. The last full time job I had was taking care of 5 rolloffs trucks, four truck tractors, 6 walking floor trailers, 4 garbage trucks, Cat frontend loader, a Case frontend loader, 410 JD backhoe, case skidsteer, 450 JD dozer, a forklift and doing the tire work also I averaged 65 to seventy hours a week now I need a break after feeding the goats and chickens
  5. I am turning 71 shortly and it feels like I was run over by a truck some days but you got to keep busy I take care of my goats and chickens and dogs and cats and keep doing stuff in the machine shop just small stuff anymore I miss riding my motorcycles but I figure it's a trade off by still standing I shure wouldn't want to be still working on trucks and equipment full time but I will work on my B as long as I can
  6. Larry I know your pain $2,000 for the engine $1,400 for the air ride axle and aluminum rims and tires $1,400 for the front steering tires the list can be endless. The last time I ran it over to pickup a round bale a bunch off wires shorted out for the headlights so that's next on the list when it dries out enough to drive it out from where its parked for the winter.
  7. Larry you have a very good excuse for spending the money on your truck it is a needed transporter for your race car a man must have a hobby that costs money or it's a dull life
  8. Now that model is one that I would spend the time building that would be a great winter project I hope it gets to market
  9. I should say yes around my area they were everywhere I worked at a place that run 29 Mack tractors and every one of them had a five speed and the 675
  10. I spent quite a few days in F models and in R models I never liked the 5 speed it got the job done but I never would have bought a truck with that five speed in it
  11. I just lost a suit block feeder I'm figuring a bear ripped the limb off the tree never found the feeder and the four dogs never made a peep but if a leaf in the tree moves it is a contest who can bark the loudest and the longest go figure
  12. I have found 22 rifles work on most everything including deer but when dealing with rattle snakes the 22 just pisses them off
  13. I have kept chickens for over 15 years there is 22 plus Fred the rooster in the henhouse. One time I had a fox checking out the chicken run he led a short life it ended that day. Every morning I have two eggs from the day before, there is some upkeep you have to change out the wood chips I spread on the floor and cleanout the layer boxes we have two Bernese mtn. dogs and a border Colley and a little guy that is very intent on barking at everything that moves so we don't see too many critters sculking around the chicken coop I keep my granddads single shot 22 and I keep a 22 that is scoped for longer shots and for anything larger I keep a loaded 44 mag handy that gun came in handy when a bear got too interested in my goats
  14. There are two types of machines for rod bushing the one is a Sunnen hone which is the type I own and use and another type that I have seen used but I can't remember the name of the machine I just did a set of spindles for a 47 Cadilac pressed in new bushings and fit them to new king pins
  15. I at a long time ago did an in chasse overhaul on a 300 in a R triaxle and had the pump gone over it had the six speed if I remember it ran pretty good I told the pump shop down in Hazelton to step up the pump a little
  16. I spent many hours driving a 318 with a 13 speed I will have to admit I liked it better than the Mack 5 speeds I drove in the r's and fs I did like the 4x4 in my Autocar and those 10 speeds in my White and International were nice
  17. I was pulling a dump with marble chips when I lost the cold cap off the right side front duel and when it unraveled it took out the lines to the maxibrake it was a quick pullover about midnight and my flashlight soon quit working this was before cellphones and nothing around for miles away I crawled around and found enough fittings and with the tool box I always carried I got to sleep in my own bed that morning when I got home. Changed a fuel pump on a 3406 on the side of the road and two cummins water pumps on the side of the road countless water hoses and fan belts, fished a set of duels out of the creek down a bank when they parted company from the flatbed I used the Hyab boom to pull the tires up and used the boom to lift the axle up so I could chain it up the driver was impressed with my ingenuity. Got a call the duels on one of the walking floor trailers about come off and the truck was stuck at the rest area that dot used but they weren't working that day I walked the duels off the axle and used a bottle jack to lift the axel up to chain it and used my chain cumalong to pull the tires up off the ground and strapped them to the rear door I had the driver take the loaded trailer up to the next fuel station and we hid the thing out back and went back before light and snuck the truck back to the yard. I pulled the Brockway triaxle home from about 5 miles away with the F model Mack when I rebuilt the 318 DD in it I ran that dump for a few months it was pretty ruff but I was working on a fed rate job so I kept it running $17.65 25 years ago was good money from where I lived. Had a driver miss a shift on a very large hill and twisted up the front drive shaft I went out on call about 75 miles from the shop and found a phone to call the closes truck dealer to see who could repair the drive shaft found a shop and we got the shaft repaired in short order I helped the guy doing the work got back to the truck and the shaft was too long and now it's about 5 o'clock got the shop to stay open got the shaft in place after dark that night the driver hooked up to the trailer and no taillights and when I was screwing around trying to repair the wires up pulls a state cop and says I was watching you all day trying to get this truck home he says if you got 4 ways on the trailer and headlights just go home you guys need a break was the nicest thing a cop ever said to me
  18. Larry when I made up the power steering in the B I got a steering assm. out of an R tractor and got an adjustable steering shaft off a Freightliner conventional and went to work making everything connect you are lucky like me we have a machine shop for our use when we want to do stuff like this
  19. When I moved into my new shop I purchased a blaster cabinet and I had a 5 hp. Ingersoll shop compressor boy could that cabinet suck up air after 20 years of waiting for the air to build back up I found a 10hp. job with a 100 gallon tank it shuts off when I'm using the cabinet but it does make the meter run
  20. When I first bought my Mack, I insured it with Gulf way and after a while they referred me to Haggerty they claimed they were getting out of insuring large trucks
  21. I have Haggerty for my Mack and 31 and 32 Fords there is a cheaper company, but I tried them and it was quite a bunch of hoops with them, so I stayed with Haggerty
  22. I remember seeing the damage done on liners I pulled out of Cat engines and Cummins engines I worked on. Not taking care about additives in the radiator system really made a difference I rebuilt an old D-4 engine and the liners were almost eaten through the side of the liners I did an on the floor rebuild and the guy got the dozer going and was hogging out an old pond and sucked sand in through the front cover and killed the fresh engine he tried to blame it on me but the pan was full of sand was a shame because I even overhauled the pony motor.
  23. I drove a few with the 5 speed and it was quite an event to go from first up to second and it wasn't much different shifting on up I really liked the 13 speed in the Brockway triaxle and the ten speed in my White I
  24. I ordered any new triaxles with the c12 and later the c13 they did a good job I had a c15 515 hp. tractor and a lighter c12 tractor the c12 would run along on the flat but the driver of the c15 said as soon as you could see a hill coming the c12 would start losing ground. I got to run a Cat 3408 and that was a whole lot different than the 350 Cummins I was driving
  25. When you filled up 1693's with coolant you had to be careful about air causing overheating
