The wild fires in Montana are still burning, but a change in weather has helped air quality some..... But we still have smoke, but we have some of this white stuff also.

Troy Gentry (Montgomery/Gentry) killed in helicopter crash
B MACK replied to 1958 F.W.D.'s topic in Odds and Ends
Yes Troy's death is a bummer. And we lost "Mr. Slow Motion" Don Williams also. -
Wow that face is cool. Amazing how that showed up... Hey, NO problem sharing the smoke thread, seems like most of the time we here in Montana are left unmentioned. Even though we have the #1 wild fire in the nation, we are not L.A. so it doesn't get the coverage. Kinda like the snow and blizzards in the winter.

Here are some views of northwest Montana over the past month or so. Not much relief in site, we are going to need a real early snow.. Our whole state has fires. Monday I heard in the state we had over 800,000 acers on fire or already burned, and over 500,000 of those acers are in northwest part of the state. And since Monday all of the fires had blown up, some almost doubling. The pict of the big smoke plume, that plume is close to 100 miles away..

That prank call was excellent!!!!

I agree! I like little mammals, even if they destroy the garden and other stuff. I do not like snakes,, the only good snake is on a pair of Tony Lamma's or Justin boots.... That was a nice looking MH. Those power lines look a bit low???

I have seen some contrails,( jet exhaust). They float around a bit, puff up some then after a while they are gone. What I am talking about is the trails that spread out and join the other trails that have been flown parallel and also cross hatch, but they don't disappear. Every where I have seen this out west, I can't believe these areas have that much air traffic. Like HeavyGunner says, there is smoke from fires and harvest & road dust. The same in the western part of the state. All that seems to be low level. What I am talking of is high in the sky, the jets making the trails look like a pen point.

LOL. Yes that is pretty much permanent.. Should be good always, there is no name there to have questions asked about!!!

This has probably been brought up before, cause I have noticed and have wondered about it also since early "90's". Cemtrails, It seems to be quiet now a days. I am working in north central Montana and Monday after the eclipse I saw the nice blue sky we had was being striped and then was a crappy gray. I remember photos of growing up in the 60's & 70's there were ALWAYS beautiful blue skies with either no clouds or big white puffy clouds. Now for the past 20 odd years it seems our beautiful blue skies get all striped up in a checker board fashion and then are a crappy gray sky. I have noticed this all over Montana. I was in Page, Az. at 7:00 AM the sky was super blue, and after a while of the chris-cross jets the sky was ugly. The same in Tonapah, Nv. All these places can't be located that close to a major flight route. And to have that many planes flying "chris-cross" patterns.. Jet exhaust is a contrail, it disapates and goes away.. Any ideas or thoughts

I'll have to ask my dad about some others. I remember him talk of Lightning, some others in the western Pa. area too, were B&P, Bell Lines, 3C's or CCC (not Crouse Cartage though). -
Wow ! The counsel men in Helena, the Montana capital, took no time at all to have a fountain removed.. Wednesday of last week the counsel decided that a fountain in a park in Helena be taken down. The fountain was given to the city in 1916 by the daughters of the confederacy.... I heard on the news Friday morning that it was already in the works to dismantle and remove the fountain, the water had already been shut off... Kind of amazing, in less than 2 days a plan to do something, was already happening. Nothing government related ever happens that fast. To remove a fountain that 90% of the people the news reporter interviewed, DID NOT want it removed.. It was not a statue of anyone. It was a fountain in a garden area in a park that had water flow out of the top.

This subject is getting a lot of attention. I have to comment on how President Trump is getting the usual liberal BS. Any time you speak the TRUTH you then are a bigot or a racist. What the President said about BOTH sides being at fault and having BAD people amongst them, in both groups. That was absolutely correct. Just look at all the religious civil wars. And even simpler, look at a big football, baseball game or soccer match. There is a winner and a loser, and a lot of the time the fans ( both sides ) get in a riot and fight. Some times even the winning teams fans go crazy and start tearing their own city up... So why is Trump wrong for saying Both sides are at fault??????

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying slavery was ok. But from history I have read it was tribal wars in Africa that brought on slavery. Black against black. One tribe would capture others and then they were sold into slavery. The slaves were an investment and were treated well. You could say that the Irish, Scotts, Welch, Italians that worked in the coal mines were basically slaves also. They paid rent for company housing, had to buy all their goods from the company store ( and if they didn't, there were big problems), the tools they needed to do their job had to be purchased at the company store , ( now you work for a construction outfit, they supply the shovel or what ever). They were paid in script that was worthless anywhere other than the company store. That kinda sounds like being a slave too. I don't hear any thing along those lines. The mules that were used deep in the mines in Butte, Montana were treated better than the men. Just something to think of.....

The Civil War was not ALL about slavery. But at any rate, it all is part of our history. And it might mend if the MEDIA and Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton would let it be. The southern states are proud. And there was lives lost on both sides, northern, southern. Black, white.. Just because some statues or the confederate flag bothers some group or individual doesn't mean they should be taken down or destroyed . It is OUR history. Yes, Martin Luther King was shot and killed, and there are statues and streets in many cities named after him. John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy were shot and killed also and there are NOT statues and streets named in they honor everywhere. Robert Kennedy is hardly ever spoke of, John Kennedy was assassinated while he was president of the United States, and that day in November is hardly even mentioned any more. But Martin Luther King is always talked about, and there is a national holiday in January honoring him. Why is there not a holiday for Bobby Kennedy? He fought for equal rights. We need to get over it and move on...

I guess I am one of these "conspiracy nuts". And now there is this "law" that they have to release ALL these documents... Wow they have had 54 years to make this all come out the way they want it to. Why would these documents be the real deal? For 54 years they have told us that Oswald acted alone, and that the Mafia or Castro was behind it. Why not look at others. Lady Bird Johnson owned interest in many companies that were raking in BIG dollars from the Vietnam war, Kennedy wanted to pull the plug and get out of Vietnam. Millions of dollars would not have went into peoples pockets. There was bad blood between Kennedy and the CIA, Kennedy fired some people from the CIA. The President had just been shot, no description of a shooter but Blocks away, JD Tippet, a uniform police officer arrests Oswald. "And Really" , the President was shot and the "lone gun man "is being moved and a good ol Texas boy is permitted to walk right up to and shoot kill Oswald. Then there are all the people that were on the parade route, witnesses and their stories were not what the commission wanted, now they are died. All seemed to die of questionable reasons? The magic bullet that made all those turns and amazingly was found on the stretcher, in perfect condition..... My dad was a Navy Corpsman , stationed in Pensicola , Fl. and had been around Bethesda, Md. . He was out in 1961, Dad has told me the Navy has a procedure in how things are done, exams. autopsies ,ect.. There was a first autopsy , then those Corpsmen were dismissed ( and The Warren Commission never talked to them). And a second autopsy was conducted by others NOT qualified. Some of this is very seldom brought out. The REAL TRUTH... We'll never know...

Yeah, that's for sure. I heard about the 7500 or so acre blaze up north a couple weeks ago..
-
Yes it was a C15. Talked to our mechanic, and that is what he believes happened.

This was the 2000 T800 I drove until a year and a half ago. WAS a real good truck. Not sure what happened? 20 miles north of town. Fire ex's didn't faze it, first to the seen where local farmers, then our water trucks and then local fire dept. Could have been another real bad range fire in Montana.

I have rode the Hiawatha trail quite a few years ago. Beautiful way to spend a day. 2 mile long straight tunnel, and many others and 7 or 8 tressels . And it was constructed in 1909-1910, The one tressel was built in a month's time, in December.. And the 2mile long tunnel goes under the Montana/Idaho state line, At that point in the tunnel the grade allows the water to flow out each direction so both states get their states water.. Pretty amazing!!!
