  1. This one in the photo I posted is in Oilmont, about a mile east of I-15. The ones HeavyGunner mentioned are a little farther north and are parked close to the interstate....
  2. About 160 miles northeast of Kalispell, depending on route. Oilmont, Mt., North of Shelby, on I-15
  3. I was guessing you had seen that truck. I don't get up that way very often, was coming back from Whitlash and it was less gravel than going straight to Hwy 2. If you get back up north, snap a pict or two of those other B-80's. Would love to see 'em. Lota cool stuff in Kevin also...
  4. Yeah, I'm not sure what model it is. Nobody was around, no badges on the hood and I didn't want to mess around and open the door to see if the ID tag was there. Don't know if gas or diesel. It looked nice and straight, had broken glass in driver door.
  5. Was driving past a shop in an old Montana oil patch and saw this B 80 series with short trailer with pipe on it. Not sure if it is running and being used or if just a yard a remnant of the past?? Caught my eye ,so had to take a picture...
  6. I'm sure everyone has slipped off the clutch pedal when boots are wet. muddy or however slippery. Sometimes just jerk ahead and kill the engine or, like I did once up in the woods after hooking up to my log trailer, slipped off pedal are snapped the input shaft in front rear end. (SQHD's).. The company I work for has 2 dump trucks with "nonslip" clutch pedals.
  7. We had a good dumping of snow in the west this year. Here in northwestern Montana this past week with temps in the low 40's and rain, I am starting to see green in my yard. And now our haul road is really sloppy. The news and weather channels on TV are always telling about the "big storms" in New York or Chicago, and never mention Montana. Here at my house, I haven't seen the bare ground since Thanksgiving. I don't believe it made national news but in January on the eastern front, Browning , St.Marys and Babb areas got 63 inches of snow in one two day storm. We deal with it. Winter happens every year,, every where in the northern states.. But I am glad its spring..
  8. No I haven't nailed my knee yet, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for the warning.
  9. I am curious of others opinion of the T880. Last year the company put me in one of the brand new trucks. So heck yeah, I'll go for that. I DO like it. It is comfortable to drive, the power is good(525 cummins), 18 speed, the climate control is great, the wider roomy cab would be real nice for OTR but doesn't matter for construction. I don't think that it is one of KW's better designs outside. The only grab handle on the outside is on the back of the cab, to get up on the deck. When getting in the cab there are two grab handles, one front and rear of door opening. But outside with door closed it is a pain to clean the mirrors and windows with nothing to grab onto. Anyone else with same dislikes?
  10. This ole R is sittin out in the grass and trees next to a barn. I didn't get the chance to stop and check it out.
  11. It is nice to have a moving "office". Saw this sun rise out the KW window. Yesterday I was in a MACK end dump ("YEH") and hauled up in the ding weeds. Don't get to see much of that other 'scenery' like Other Dog sees. Lol.
  12. Our washplant operator might not be at work Monday, if he finds that pot and doesn't tell the boss. HA HA
  13. I was just watching Barrett-Jackson auction from Vegas. There was a 1967 (maybe 69) Shelby GT 500, it sold for $250,000. And a 1967 BOSS 429 with 21 thousand original miles, it sold for $325,000. WOW, some really nice cars....
  14. Nice 420, those 2 cylinders are so cool sounding. That model T is sweet!
  15. I scanned some of my other photos from haulin in Glacier Park. That was a FUN day of trucking.
  16. Old tractors are just as cool as old trucks. Here is my 1958 J D 420. I built a new front loader bucket, then some fixin & paint.
  17. The construction company I work for has a few Rs and aCH. The CH has the shut down, check engine, electric fault alarms going off sometimes all at the same time or separately. I'm not sure just where it is in the dash. In this truck everything is wired to the same one alarm, all of the warning issues as well as power divider.
  18. Nice R Dave. I too have always heard that MACK hp is rated to the ground??

    Old KW

Yeah, they had to change them and make 'em modern looking. Now everyone likes the older "classic" ones. I do like the new big power and comfort of the new ones, but really love the looks of the older ones.
  20. I saw this Kenworth on a job last week. Not sure of year ( I'm guessing 55? ) or power, etc.
  21. We would fudge a little on the weight. I could be just over 16 1/2 on truck and just over 16 on the pup. The company always played that "tolerance" game. When I would stretch the tongue out the additional 6 feet , usually GVW would let it go. I have some other picts from haulin up there, I'll see if I can find them.
  22. Here is a photo of the truck and pup I was driving in 2008. I dumped off my two boxes of asphalt and stopped on top of Logan Pass. We hauled from our plant in Kalispell. Went in the park at West Glacier, up the "going to the sun road" over Logan Pass and back down the east side to the Big Drift area. Was able to make a big "U ey" , then back up 3/4 mile to the paver. 16 1/2 tons in each box. 104,000 gross.
  23. Yes it is the new by-pass in Kalispell. The trailers are belly dumps. We have a couple flow boys, but don't use them much any more.
  24. Yes they are pretty cool to watch do their job. The wagners always seemed to be broke down a lot. But those diesel / electric le tournea's didn't have too much trouble. There is a le tournea dump truck at the mining museum in Butte. I'll look in my albums for a pict of it.
  25. I didn't have a date on this photo, I believe I saw this old girl in a log yard in 2000 or 01? Old trucks never die. They just get sheet metal bent up or loose some of it!
