  1. Looks pretty much original and unmolested with the pre plus 3 cab still intact. Just wonder if someone did in fact put a big cam in it as they weren't yet produced in '71.
  2. I'd say it once was an exhaust brake and if the truck has an engine brake I'd definitely get rid of it. Otherwise how much time and money do you want to spend trying to fix it? It looks like it's in a difficult to access location too.
  3. The big green service manuals from that vintage covered all the truck models. They are often online. I have a bunch of you need to know anything in particular. Operator and parts manuals are much more scarce.
  4. MACKS, I was implying 80k gross as if this is a tractor with semitrailer. Certainly not on the truck alone.
  5. Similar concept to a mack taperleaf suspension. They ride quite well but some people say they're too weak. If you're grossing 80k max and not pounding the sh!t out of it they might do well. My family had 2 with taperleaf doing dry bulk and they did fine and both trucks I have now are taperleaf.
  6. I've never heard em called Twinkies Jojo! Here's a picture just to make things clear lol
  7. Have you checked with trovei? I haven't seen those wheels in a while.
  8. I've seen plenty of reproductions of Eaton fullers but none for mack. Your best bet might be to have one made by a sign shop from a photograph of a good one. I'll see what mine looks like and try to get a picture of its decent
  9. It's an unfortunate big expense to the maintenance of a camelback Bill. With all the issues you're having added up the springs and bushings are likely shot. The left side leaves shifted could be just a u bolt defect, but the right side shifting is a good indication of bigger problems. Rebushing the trunnions and replacing the elephant pads would probably be short lived as the ends of the spring are probably worn out.
  10. It looks to be 0 premium which is pretty surprising with many companies up to 13 percent now and not many having a cap.
  11. I don't know when gold dogs were used for maxidynes and when for all mack power train. My 84 mh is a maxidyne and all mack and it still has a silver dog.
  12. 1985 Mack RW600 Superliner semi | Commercial Trucks Truck Tractors Sleeper Trucks | Online Auctions | Proxibid Already bid to $30k, strong bidding for one so seriously weathered. It looks as straight and solid as can be but sure has been left neglected for a long time. I'm just curious to see how high the numbers go.
  13. Someone must've wanted it for something, but not me. That old bone cable sheave Holmes and 58 rears with a 5 speed I bet that things a real treat to drive and operate.
  14. I buy from that auction house quite a bit but certainly wouldn't bid on that mutant. I don't even know how they made an RB hood fit on there.
  15. New replacement bottom and side pieces are supposed to be available at Watts soon.
  16. No affiliation. Auction in Williston, VT. Current bid at $1100 plus premium 18%. Also parts and tools at auction. Custom Carved MACK Bulldog in 2 Sections | Art, Antiques & Collectibles Art Carvings | Online Auctions | Proxibid
  17. I have a couple. One is perfect, the other I'd rather get rid of I still need to take off. I'll get back to you on this.
  18. I was trying to get a picture of your truck last year when I took some of Northstar's fleet but it was hidden behind some containers. How about trying Abreu Truck Services in Newark? They are the only Scania specialist I know of.
  19. Greg Hoffman, I last saw him at the Gear Jammer truck show in NH in July. He's still running the MH with a 3406 repower.
  20. It was most likely a tractor that got turned into a dump truck later in its life. I remember Lapine Truck sales was big on turning light spec'd tractors into heavy spec dumps using vintage components. That vintage CH had a very unreliable speedometer, it has likely been replaced. With those hours you're likely in the 600-800k range. Life of the engine is a gamble. Dumping the suspension is necessary for stability and to prevent the suspension from overinflating when the load suddenly comes off faster than it can deflate. Jake shifting isn't as helpful on a 9 speed as on a 6 like you're used to. The gears aren't as wide spread. Its just very beneficial for downhill grades wherever you're located.
  21. Just thought I'd share this neat little led lit sign I bought on ebay. It took almost a month to arrive but was only about 90 bucks. Its about 10 inches across and powered by a 110v AC adapter that comes with it. Interesting part is that the adapter output is 12v DC so you might be able to directly wire it to a truck. I thought it was neat and just had to have one. I'll let you guys know if it gives me any grief.
