And yes I  do like the colour Mark

Bob the peach is his little girl

I reckon nothing better than having my adult boy ride with me in my Bucket of bolts

  2. A lot is gunna depend on the part your chasing and how quick you want it

Air freight is pretty dear, especially if it is heavy or bulky

I have bought plenty of parts from the States before for plenty different bits of gear

Champions may be able to send stuff thru Mack at a really good price, I know Cat will take ACMOC stuff for stuff all, ACMOC is Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club

I feel Mack will or would do the same for getting stuff from the State's

Big companies have shipping containers booked every single day going all over the world empty or full and Cat would some times put our gear in a empty container coming to Australia

A lot of big companies ship charities gear all over the world for free like this

But it can take quite a while to get there

I know of two people that ship from the U.S. to Australia regularly and I pay by the cubic meter in the shipping container

There is no doubt the same tin boxes heading back State side

If you are prepared to muck about a bit it can be much cheaper

I have sent stuff for people on the forum before but freight is a challenge bothways

what are your thoughts on lubing the exposed threads on the u-bolts, and loosen then re-torque each nut individually?  when you back them off you can squirt some oil between the nut and the washer to insure full torque is applied to the nut..  Jojo

I know nothing about anything worth knowing

But this is exactly what I would do

And not just the thread, also the surface on the end of the nut

How accurate is a torque setting if it is binding up, I would think not very accurate at all

Think about doing up head studs, they don't jump or bind, even when I have done them on my D7 they are a long gentle smooth turn, I can't remember what they were but they were pretty high

My point is if the nut is jumping, I would undo and make it spotless and lube it up and then torque the studs up slowly keeping them even and in steps

  4. But isn't this truck still under warranty?

If it is found to be missing parts your other trucks have then I would expect Mack should be sorting this issue not you

Once you have found whats wrong it should be up to them, if you start changing bits and pieces will that effect the rest of the trucks warranty

But yes, it does appear to be have some wrong parts, thanks to everybofy that has picked this up, I didn't notice

So other dog, do you put a bone thru your nose when cooking ?

Sounds like a wonderful stew, sort of grew up on stews, always tasted better cold the next day on toast, still do

The Princess isn't a patch on stew making compared to my mothers, the Princess puts pasta (yuck yuck yuck 🤮) in stew, cant do a full days work on pasta lol

Yes I am not a pasta man, funny how our taste buds are set as children, apparently the older style meat and 3 veg Australian type of meals are pretty bland by world standards

I have been cooking for the last week or so as the Princess has had a knee replaced, I haven't made her crook yet and she isn't complaing, she is starting to give instructions on my cooking as she gets better

In the mean time I have been busy putting (not finished yet) ducted heating and cooling in the house

Hell of a job, the indoor unit is now all mounted in the roof space, I split it in two as both bits weighed 260 lbs and Im to old saggy to lift that in on my own

Here is the second half entering the roof

Roofs been open a few days now, had a few mm of rain one day and over a 100°f another day

The old swampy AC is still working so pulled the ducting off that to keep the roof space cooler

    Happy stew eating everyone

Joey the sand blasting of pots etc I think would be fine as long as they have no grease in them, sand blasting greasy things I have found is pretty use less, or perhaps it is just me

  6. They really are good to watch, very interesting stuff

Their logging idea makes sense, recharge down hill with logs pushing the load, them drive back up on the already charged battery

Only problem for Australia is we dont have huge mountain ranges like the US or Canada

And I dunno about the steering wheel in the middle and if that will pass ADR

But good on them for having a go

Paul, you should really look into flying into the East coast and finding a nice drivable Brockway. Drive it to the Canadian Rockies. Do the horseback thing (I would ask for a mule. No horse can match the comfort and sure footedness of a mule). Then drive the Brockway to a West Coast port for export. If Brockways are as rare as you say in AU then this is your chance to bring one over. Just a thought.

This thought has crossed my mind, Brocky knows far more me about Brockway numbers in Australia, I have never seen one in the flesh

I'm guessing you could count the numbers in total on both your hands
