  1. Five years and done like other Freightliners.
  2. Big $ to replace windshield.
  3. Maybe advanced, but will it last in the real trash hauling world? Trash trucks have to work everyday, that is why there a lot of Mack MR"s on the road, they are strong.
  4. That is my point, a truck setup right could move a lot weight. A 534 Ford T-950 was a good low cost dump truck. A road builder I worked for in the 1970's still had some with automatics, they were better off road in sand than any other truck. These trucks were used maybe 5-6 months in a year at most.
  5. How did that White 4000 move what looks like a Cat D8H without 500HP+ over those Vermont hills?
  6. So a Mack (Volvo) dealer cannot get parts for these trucks?
  7. What is the real reason Volvo does not support this truck?
  8. You think Ford builds a truck with a junk powertrain that no real truck owner will want, but they sell a lot of them anyway. Ford sell's a lower cost truck that does the job and makes them money ( Ford and the buyer). A class 6 truck is not comparable with class 8 and should not be. The Ford powertrains are holding up. But I have said before, if I was in the market for a heavy class 7 truck (33 GVW+) I would take a good look at Mack MHD. A F-750 is not as good as a MHD in a hard use job, but will last in a low mileage job and cost a lot less to buy.
  9. That firm has a management problem.
  10. Ford builds a low cost, simple, yet strong truck that lasts and always has. They sold more F650's last year than all the trucks Mack sold (HDT sales figures). I would bet there are more Ford class 6-8 trucks on the road running in the US than Mack and a few others. Mack built a better truck, but you paid a lot more for one. There are a lot of 1998-1970 L-series still working, with no real dealer support.
  11. Day cab CL713 tractor 16,000-18,000.
  12. This is not about real estate, it is about a location that will attract creative young people to an area they will want to work and live in. Detroit is changing, hard to explain to outsiders, but it is. I may not like it, but it is real.
  13. The Moroun family ( Big in Trucking ) should be glad Ford will take that off there hands. If I was Ford, I would give them 5 - 10 F750"s (used) for it, no more. But Ford management people I know say I do not understand, young people can ride there bikes to work there from downtown Detroit. That area is many year's from being cleaned up. Funny most (all) Ford management live 30 - 50 miles away.
  14. A waste of money by Ford.
  15. The two Ford heavy truck only dealers in Detroit area became Sterling and Ford. One is now a very large Freightliner dealer (selling way more then when Ford only). The other still sells Ford Trucks only, after Sterling went away.
  16. The best never rest, Ford Trucks.
  17. GMC the truck people from General Motors, back when they sold there own REAL trucks built by GM. GMC now is a car sold at a Buick dealer. If I was a Chevy dealer I would not trust GM to keep selling these trucks. Where are all the Saturn and Hummer dealers today? What happened to the GMC truck only dealers that sold class 1-8 GMC trucks only? Had a 1977 GMC pickup, I got it at a GMC Truck Center dealer from a truck salesman who only sold trucks.
  18. This Communist crook is not a remake of Henry Ford.
  19. I am not saying Navistar is not trying to get better, but that does not fix the junk they built the last few years. Lets not get into Ford and Navistar over 6.0 and 6.4 diesels. I have been around Cat equipment all my life and Cat stands by what they build. You cannot say that about any other equipment or truck manufacturer in this country. I have been operating heavy equipment over 35 years and have owned 12 Cat machines. I have had better luck repairing them, than the Ford and Mack trucks I own.
  20. Two new guys and everything is better. Kscarbel have you ever owned a truck and it was down and it was costing you money? New management and products do not get you running and making money with the truck you own. Navistar has a lot of junk on the road.
  21. Cat trucks were built by Navistar, that should tell you why they were junk.
  22. All 60's F, N and T used the same cab, with modifications. 80's F and FT-8000 were Cat 3208. FT-900 was gas I think. 1980 F-700, F-800 had DD 8.2, then Brazil diesel and ended with Cummins 5.9.
  23. For those waiting for a Diesel Ranger and the 2019 F-850, here is your answer.
  24. If I was looking for a new 33 or 36 GVW truck, I would take a real good look at a Mack MHD before any other brand. Do you really think Ford is losing a lot of sales without Cummins? Maybe, I will bet Ford dealer service dept. do not miss them. Ford will never get back in heavy trucks in the US and is happy to be where they are in sales I think. Take a good look at class 5. I see a lot of F-550 gas trucks, cost a lot less, no DPF or DEF.
  25. What did kscarbel2 just post, Ford sales leader Class 6, 5 and 4 for 2017. I think Ford class 7 woes have more to with DPF issues with Cat and Cummins than new trucks with 6.7Powerstoke. I almost bought a used 2009 F-750 (170,000 mi) Cat last year, did not, $25,000 to replace DPF. Go to a Ford Truck dealer, ask about Cummins and Cat in F-650 and F-750 there were a lot of issues with them after about 2006. Ford had the right idea in the HN80 cab for class 6 and 7 back in 1997, but they sold out. Super duty cab was never built to be a medium-duty cab like the LN7000 a great truck. I do not understand why E-550 was dropped, still see them here, no diesel after 2004? I own and run only Ford and Mack trucks everyday in my construction business.
