  1. Yeah I don't worry about the mileage either because I swore off Ford trucks after Ford refused to honor the warranty on a new F250 I bought in 1981. They completely screwed me over. Maybe their quality is OK now but I'm still boycotting them. I believe it is a company without a sole and a defective culture. Ford Motor Company could disappear from this earth and it wouldn't matter a bit to anyone except their employees. And that's how I really feel.
  2. I was doing a google search to see if I could find any info about the gun battle in the parking lot in Ivor last week and found this BMT thread mentioned. I guess nobody ever noticed the mouse in this picture,eh? Yeah, you are correct. I looked at this photo a half dozen times and never noticed the mouse until I actually read your post and looked at each donut. Somehow my eyes keep going elsewhere...
  3. Lemon Picker Sally Mullihan of Coral Springs , Florida decided to take one of the jobs that most Americans are not willing to do. Sally applied for a job in a Florida lemon grove and seemed to be far too qualified for the job. She had a liberal arts degree from the University of Michigan and had worked as a social worker and a school teacher. The foreman frowned and said, "I have to ask you, have you had any actual experience in picking lemons?" "Well, as a matter of fact, I have," she said: "I've been divorced three times, owned two Chrysler's and I voted twice for Obama." She starts work on Monday ....
  4. FYI, Divco is an acronym for Detroit Industrial Vehicle Company

  6. Health care reform isn't going to happen any time soon. Reason, it's about simple economics and graft. Consider the following. Allowing the insurance companies to compete across state lines was included in a future "phase 3" of the Republican's plan. Why phase 3 instead of phase 1? Duh, the insurance companies do not want to have to serious, intense competition. They are happy with things just as they are today. The insurance companies heavily lobby our representatives. i.e. "Make sure it is in phase 3 so it never happens." Can't have competition! What if new companies were formed and entered the market? What if they brought innovations and improved efficiency? Wow, can't have that. It's about the money. It's always about the money.
  7. '41, Those are some cool old photos. I wonder if the guy holding the grinder is a young Roland Leong? Whenever I see a picture of the Challenger I think of The Pumpkin Seed even though they have nothing in common except their original time period. The Pumpkin Seed has been resurrected and runs about 280 mph. Not bad for a Ford flathead V8. Here's a photo from 2006.
  8. 15,200 h.p. and ugly as sin. At Hill AFB, Utah. Globemaster I think. Each radial engine is 3800 h.p., 4 rows of 7 cylinders.
  9. Yeah, but they're the cat's ass for land speed racing. Four engines worked well for the Summers Brothers., 4 Chrysler hemis, normally aspirated. Went 409 mph in the '60s and their record stood for 40+ years. Incredible that the brothers built their car in the shade of their parents So. California fruit stand. Later got some sophisticated help with an engineer and a wind tunnel but nonetheless a truly incredible accomplishment by these guys. I remember reading a few years ago that the car was being restored and was going to the Henry Ford museum. Here's an old photo and link to a write-up on it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldenrod_(car)
  10. That, Sir, is completely outrageous.
  11. This is photo from a magazine cover, but you get the idea. It was called "Showboat." Pretty outrageous machine.
  12. I suggested with gearing change he could maybe set a new Bonneville electric car record. He didn't reply to that but it would be great to see him do it. The current records are getting stale. The E2 record is going to be 20 years old this summer. /E 1 (vehicle weight under 1099 lbs.) BYU Streamer J. Burkdoll 9 /14 204.893 /E2 (vehicle weight 1100 to 2200 lbs.) Lighting Rod R. Ranneberg 10/97 213.084 /E3 (vehicle weight 2201 lbs. and over) Buckeye Bullet R. Schroer 10/04 314.958
  13. Yes he is a very nice guy, a class act. Love that museum. I was there in late 2015 about and took a picture with him. He was in the process of updating an electric dragster he had built. Haven't talked to him since so don't know where that project stands today.
  14. Go wrong? Uh, well, several things come to mind but I hope not! After the event please post some pics or better yet some video...
  15. Yeah, I was sure only the top and middle strand of barbed wire were hot. Thought the dog was stupid 'cause he wouldn't go under the bottom strand and get the pheasant.... So I grabbed that bottom strand to pull it up for clearance for him to go under. Knocked me on my ass. Did you ever see a trained lab laugh? I did.
  16. Chickens arriving at a Pilgrims Pride plant in Lufkin, TX, where they will very soon meet their maker. The chickens are in coops (cages) made by Bright Coop Co., Nacogdoches, TX. The trailer appears to be a 48 ft. Viking trailer. Viking is a division of Bright Coop. Bright has always used Mack trucks since their early days. Tractor is a photo of a photo that hangs in Bright Coop's Lobby.
  17. I've heard that before about massive dealings in those countries, but never been able to see real proof. You have any links? A complicated Saudi / U.S. relationship, based on oil and money (duh!) predates the birth of Donald Trump. I am not up to speed on the details but the portion of the history deemed suitable for sharing with us the underclass is available. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saudi_Arabia–United_States_relations Thicker Than Oil: America's Uneasy Partnership with Saudi Arabia https://books.google.com/books?isbn=0199741174 Rachel Bronson - 2008 - ‎Political Science When Dulles returned to Washington, he cautioned Eisenhower that the ... 18. So maybe the real question... If there is a trailer problem developing, like the load is shifting, tarps coming loose, stuff falling off of or out of the trailer, then what does the trooper do when he sees that? Make use of fancy software that enables him to take control of the truck? If the trooper, having taken control, then crashes the truck, does the trooper and the state government then become responsible for that crash? Or does he call dispatch to have them shut the truck down? Or should he just shoot out the tires? No doubt the lawyers will figure all this out. I think it is an open question if the trucking companies will actually realize the savings they dream of. Trains run on tracks, don't need to be steered, and even with all the fancy controls and government regulations, we still have train crashes. And, there are a hell of a lot more trucks than trains. This should be interesting...
  19. Saw this nice flame job. just couldn't get well-positioned for good photos while driving.
  20. Yeah, I enjoyed the whole movie. Laughed my ass of as an adult at the time. I like when Belushi uses the windshield stanchion to knock the top off the Coke bottle. And, of course, Slim Pickens in the submarine with the Cracker Jack toy compass and the "Japs" trying to get him to hand it over. Lot of funny stuff in that movie (for those of us with a juvenile sense of humor.)
  21. Well, speaking of Belushi, here's a real classic... "Fill 'er up. Ethyl."
  22. An experienced plow truck driver with attitude can use a wing plow to shear off mailboxes along with their posts, and flip them end-over-end and send them for a good 50 feet or so. Years ago I saw a driver clip off every mailbox along Ellicott Creek Rd., Tonawanda, NY. Damnest thing I ever seen. Wish I had a video of it.
  23. 38 years later and still pretty funny...
