  1. Was doing some spring cleaning and came across a few old Northern IL Mack Hats that I have. The middle one has to be at least 30 years old. The teal hat lists Mendota as the third location. I don't think I was ever there. Must have been before they moved to Lasalle.
  2. Makes sense. Thought I could pass it along.
  3. I took this picture at Louisville about 20 years ago and have never seen this truck again. I thought it was a pretty cool truck, I liked the metallic blue paint with all the chrome. Does anybody know if this truck still exists?
  4. The "Best system for winning with women". I'm gonna call BS on that one. No such thing exists. False advertising at best.
  5. Found this picture of Northern IL Mack's Superliner tow truck. Ernie got this truck when he bought the other trucks. I asked him what happened to it, and he said he didn't really need it so he sold it. He thinks an exporter bought it. Probably towing somewhere warm now.
  6. Found this picture on an old City of Chicago auction site. It sold way back in 05 for $11,000. Was a 1980, serial# RM6884x1009. Looks like it went over to Michigan. Neat old tow truck.
  7. I'm headed to Louisville. Made the reservations on Sunday. Missed it last year since I went to Con-Expo.
  8. I noticed the bias ply myself but I guess I did look at the brand. Tried to zoom in on the pic but couldn't make out the name. Those will stay on the computer for personal use
  9. I went to the Peoria Civic Center(Peoria IL) for the truck show this weekend. Decent little show. Had a nice B-model there that CIT in Lasalle did all the body work to, and the Green Mack was a CIT truck. Had one Mack in the show n shine along with about 20 other trucks, and The Quincy dealership brought a few trucks. After the show we went to the Caterpillar visitors center and checked that out for a bit, was pretty cool, then there was a Hooters about a block away so we checked that out also before we left.
  10. Thanks for finding a picture of Rusty's truck Al. One of many I remember watching go by from the passenger seat in Dads truck. I saw the other post about Bob Ecksteins truck ( http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/18824-some-pics-of-the-rs/page-7 ) and figured I could take a picture of a picture from my "Mack Trucks book by Ron Adams" and post it. Its a shame how that truck ended up after how well Mr Eckstein took care of it. From the picture of the bunk Al posted to this picture it looks like the truck got a bigger bunk at some point in its life. Wonder if the frame was streched to accommodate or if there was enough room?
  11. I think the only way to get the new ones to "blow coal" is to light them on fire, otherwise the EPA says they have to blow sunshine and farts out of the stacks. Speaking of a Lowe RD, I got a picture of one of them.
  12. Here are a couple Plote trucks I found on the web. One delivering some grindings to a few food pantry being built and the other just happened to be in a picture that somebody was taking of the fire that happened at Lowe's transfer station in Cary.
  13. I have heard some rumblings about needing a CDL to operate farm equipment on the road in other states also. I don't know if any legislation has been passed yet but I know the farmers were screaming about it because many have kids or hired help under age 18 that would not be allowed to move the equipment. I heard they might have an exemption for family but not hired help. It's all ridiculous. For the trucking industry that was supposedly "deregulated" back in the day the Feds, states, county's, and towns have sure found a way to re-regulate every thing that is done out here under the name of safety. I call B.S. I agree, all about the $$$$$$$$ and how much they can squeeze from us.
  14. One of Plote's RD mixers. I think they got rid of all these and replaced them with Granite's, although I have seen a few of these still running around with a different name on the door. Somebody must have bought a couple. Have not been alongside one to see the name.
  15. I found these pictures on the web of this Plote Granite hauling this fire truck. Not sure what the story was here on why they were moving it.
  16. This poor old Ford was so tired it just fell over.
  17. Saw a couple Plote trucks about a month ago with a couple Deere's on their back.
  18. The guy walked away from this. He must be living right, not driving real well though.
  19. Found a Chicago R-model on You Tube. An Advanced Concrete truck backing into their yard on Grand Ave. I like the jack-ass in the Nissan that about floors it into his hood because he can't wait one more second.
  20. Looks like the D.O.T outfits are getting smaller and smaller. Darn budget cuts:)
  21. Found a couple very neat pictures today on the internet from the 1957 Chicago Auto Show. A little before the R-Models time but Mack brought one big truck to the show. Maybe a B-model fire truck behind the sign? http://www.chicagoautoshow.com/history/1957/#
  22. Here it is. http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/38440-chicagoland-mack-dealerships/
