  1. There used to be a small fleet tanker co. in Roanoke that ran all VT903s in cabover White Freightliners, called Lemmon Transport. I was going up 220 to Covington with a load of chips one day when one caught me going up Silver Dollar hill. He might have had the VT 350 as they called them, still a 903 but before they stopped offering them in trucks they raised the HP from 320 to 350. Here's the one I drove. Sitting at the old Ponderosa Truckstop on rt. 60 at the bottom of North Mountain with a load of chips, heading to the Westvaco paper mill in Covinton. I'm headed up because you can see chips in the vent holes.
  2. They might have been the ones that had the stack on the left side of the cab, when every other truck in the U.S. had the stacks on the right.
  3. It was.
  4. They sure do get a lot of hate nowadays, but I liked the one I drove. It was in a 74 Transtar and it did a pretty good job. H.H. Moore had several 903s and he never had any major issues with them that I can remember.
  5. Here's a good picture of a Brown from the Colfax show. Not my picture.
  6. Yes it is.
  7. https://www.hemmings.com/stories/article/brown-beauties This tells the story of Brown trucks. At first they were built just for Associated Transport, who ran mostly Corbitts, then they were offered for sale to the general public.
  8. The Thurston is a Corbitt, but I think the wrecker is a brown. Those two super-tall cabover Corbitts used to always be there, but I haven't seen them in a while.
  9. Well, here's what I've got- just click on the picture.
  10. It was nice meeting you and your lovely wife. No problems with any pictures, I was thinking that you have a good eye for pictures- because we took some from the some angle, from the same spot!
  11. Here's the link to the truck show pictures from Colfax, N.C. Just click on the picture. I could have left out a few of the Frederickson truck, I must have taken 800 pictures of it. I did like it though. It's about time, huh?
  12. yessir, I couldn't get a real close look at it because it was on a trailer.
  13. How about this unit? I heard it running but they shut it off before I could get any video. Sounded like a race car, I would never guessed it was a 903 Cummins by the sound, until I saw it. It sounded awesome.
  14. yeah, i'm out of "likes" already, but what Bob said. You got a lot of pictures that I didn't.
  15. My daddy had a brand new 66 Chevrolet pickup. I think it was the first brand new vehicle he ever bought. It was a long bed C-10, blue with a white top, had a 292 with a 3 speed on the column. I used to drive it to school when I was a senior in high school.
  16. You missed a good one, no doubt. Probably because of the great weather. I think that was the most trucks I've ever seen there. I will get all the pictures posted up soon. It might be Monday though- I'm married now, so I might wait until she's working so I can keep her entertained when she's not working. 🤣
  17. I wasn't just walking around carrying a green string, there was a dog attached to the other end of it. The dog was so hot he had to take a break in the shade for a few minutes.
  18. Saw some nice pickups at the truck show today too.
  19. Well, he used to be 🤣. My older brother was telling everybody at the wedding that I was older. He has no gray hair, and I have several. 😕He also has no bald spots. 🤔
  20. That's one of the trucks from the museum, I took the picture at the parade a couple of weeks ago.
  21. Well, we're off to Colfax. Pictures later.
  22. this is probably a nice one.
  23. The guy at Deloach Diesel invited us to stop by the next time we passed through and he would show us more old trucks and wreckers that were inside the fence behind the N model Ford wrecker. He said he couldn't the day we stopped, so I hope we can stop there again.
