it looks like somebody stepped on it or sat on it. you can pop them out with your hand but they pop right back in. it was like that when I got it. looks like he coulda put a stiffener of some kind on the underside to hold it stiff and fixed it pretty easy, but I don't know.

I wanted the top of the hood black, but it has some bents in it and I figured they would show up worser black.

I see Rob's been on here today, but he hasn't said anything funny yet...maybe he's watching me, and loading up my mixer about now.

My wife Becky, passed away in 2005. This was taken at the beautiful Charlotte Motor Speedway, around '85-'86.

I got the hood repainted and put it back on last weekend. My next plan was to buy some used wheels and get some used tires from the shop so I can run tubeless tires on it. Todd said I could have the tires, but the wheels are $40 each and things are kinda' slow. Just don't know whether to just go ahead and get 'em, or hold off a while because they're not a necessity. But I do need tires on the rear, it's got recaps on it now, some have cracks in the sidewall, and it drives like it has footballs for tires now.

Might as well add my little collection- this is a Marlin "goose gun", 36'' barrel full choke. Used to belong to my wife's brother, who was killed when he raised a dump body into some overhead electric wires in 1983. He used it at turkey shoots. Then my pride and joy, a Remington "Fieldmaster" .22 rifle that belonged to my grandfather, still a sweet shooting rifle, and a model 700 Remington 30-06...and an "Alf" coloring book.

I went to Roxana, reloaded in Calvert City, Ky. for Ambridge, Pa. then loaded in Pittsburgh for Lynchburg. Nothing unusual or exciting, so I took some pictures of it... well, this might be unusual-looks like a broken power pole with the transformer dangling from it. Anyone know what this is? I see lots of them along the road,especially in Pa. This is in W.V. They're purple and triangular-i'm thinking some kind of insect trap. Self explanitory- Ansted, W.V. The old Smith's Transfer terminal on rt. 60 near Charleston, W.V. I think the plan here is to connect these things so you can drive across it. some of the piling we've hauled to Roxana. A red Mack. A white Mack. A blue Mack. And a colorful Peterbilt,loading storm debris in western Ky. huge debris pile, and more debris cleanup.Looks like this will be going on for a long time. I must be off now-going to Roxana again with piling. Good thing they're building that pipeline from Alberta. Hauling the piling to the refinery has really been good, keeping us a little busy anyway. Haven't been making but one round a week lately, and deadheaded back to Knoxville and Rome, Ga. the last two times I went to Roxana. We lost 2 of our regular hauls lately, the treated lumber out of Moneta and return loads of steel to Roanoke. A large flatbed carrier, like the mickow corporation, cut the rates and just took the hauls. Bidness is bidness I guess...a dog eat dog world. ...And how about Miss California? I saw the headline yesterday on the yahoo home page but didn't read the story. It just said her answer to a question may have cost her the Miss America title. Then I heard the whole story on the news this morning. I thought she had stumbled on a reply or something, like standing there saying "well, uh... mmm, duh- d'oh!" That wasn't it at all-she replied to a question about gay marriage and the faggot-can you say that here?-judge that asked the question didn't like her reply that marriage should be between a man and woman. So he scored her low or not at all. She gave a good answer I thought, and her personal opinion shouldn't be held against her either way. Just my opinion.

naw, that's Mike that you're thinking of-he wants to ride in there on his bike and take her to the prom. He was even pondering trading his bike to "Momma" for the daughter, but I think Rob's belt fed weapon on the front porch and land mines in the front yard may have changed his mind.

Not wasting any time... Once upon a time a brave knight was about to ride off on a quest to seek some rare parts. Before he left he went to his best and most trusted friend and told him "I am going on a dangerous mission-here is the key to my lovely lady's chastity belt. If I should never return...or if I have not returned in a year or so...well, do what you must my dear friend-I must be off". And with that he rode away. After riding a couple of hours he heard a horse racing up behind him. He stopped and heard the rider shouting "stop-wait-stop-STOP!" It was his best friend, with whom he had entrusted the key to his beloved's treasures. He rode up to the knight, him and his horse both out of breath. "What is it?" asked the knight. "What kind of emergency do we have?". "It's the wrong key", panted his friend. "You left me the wrong key."

I always cook them in the smoker oven-low and slow, starting with charcoal then putting wood in it. I coat it with the rub first, then when it's done (when the bone pulls out easily) I either keep it whole for a roast and slice it, or pull the meat off and mix it with the vinegary homemade BBQ sauce.

couldn't say- I was just a boy then! BTW, if you're around Abingdon and want a crooked road to ride your bike on you should head up 81 a little farther to Marion. Then take rt. 16-it'll either be 16 west or 16 north, most likely west though. Goes to Hungry Mother State Park. From the top of the mountain where all the towers are over to rt. 42 is undoubtedly the crookedest rode i've ever been on. I went across there in a big truck one time, going around the scales at Bland. Since I was going to Atkins to the Utility trailer factory, I looked at the map and decided i'd just take 42 south down to 16 and back to 81 instead of the usual "bypass the scales" route, highway 52. 42 was nice, but when I got on 16- what a mistake that was! Never again! You couldn't keep the trailer on your side of the road because there's a mountain on one side and a cliff on the other with a guardrail, then a 10,000 foot (my estimate) dropoff. It has a length restriction on it now anyway, I think it's no vehicles over 35', but it didn't then. It's certainly no road for a truck to be on. Worst part was when I was motoring down 42 I heard somebody say the scales were closed anyway! Here's a google earth image of it, one looking north, one looking south. First picture is from directly overhead, second is tilted, looking from 42 towards Marion. Looks about as crooked after you cross rt. 42, but i've never been on that part of it.
