Just the fender is clumsy enough but add the inner fender and it's going to get real awkward for one person especially if you care about the paint!

Damn, time flies.

I think he was with the "purge" and no longer around.

Ya, don't hate the sticks but would like something not so plum wore out! 13 spd would be cheaper and easier to get. Unless someone has a good triplex and i could go through it and not spend millions of dollars!
-
Ive been busy and not as regular here as I have been.
-
I really like my Triplex and 237. Though I can't lug it like the motor could go, I like the splits in 4th and 5th. I don't need to split 2nd or 3rd.
I'd like to find a 13 spd for it someday.

The stretched it at the nose instead of the cowl.

I think of this everytime this is mentioned. Monty Python Twit of the year. Go to 3:00 mark for the gun portion. The whole thing is funny as hell!!

I've seen B models running with top fender panels off. I'd guess most were V8 trucks?
My 237 doesn't get hot at all.

Would that alternator have been a 6v alternator? If that was even a thing. Because it at one point had to 6v batteries and was converted over to one 12v.
It was a 12v generator originally, now it has a 12v alternator. The running system was 12v. It took the two 6v batteries on each side and put them in series for 12v to run the truck. The S/P switch make them all in series to make 24v for the starter. It gave better cranking amps to start using 6v batteries. Now it is obsolete.
The 24v start was good for the day but could be finnicky. I changed mine out the first year due to not being reliable. Now I put air starter on it! Just because they are cool.

What is an esi option?
Extended Service Interval.
Had three filters and a larger oil pan for more capacity to go longer on oil changes.

I'd say it was converted to alternator. Looks like it was done like I did mine. Just a spacer pipe on the original bracket.

Watts had them, I got the chrome ones years ago for my truck.
-
Wouldn't the three filters be an "ESI" option? Std is 2 filters?

Great find!! For the money it looks like you have an awesome project on your hands.
The old timers here will remember Rob buying his water wagon about 10 yrs ago? Maybe more? Can't recall if his was a V8?
I come over to Beaver Springs once a year for the FE reunion race. It's in your neck of the woods off 522 and 235.

Spokes? Don't the 11.00/22 convert to 11r 24.5 rims?
10.00/20 convert to 22.5.
As for Double coin tires? I do run chinese tires on my trailer(15") but I replace them after 5 yrs. I don't know if I want to cut corners to just have to replace them sooner? I think it all boils down to personal preference. I don't mind spending a bit more to feel more comfortable(reliable) with something other then a "cheap" chinese tire.

56 yrs old. Ya, I hope to not have to buy anymore of these tires? Though the fronts are now 9 yrs old, so maybe 10 yrs til I do them again, "if" I still have the truck and use it the way I do.
Some guys would scoff at spending too much money on a "toy" but mine has to be dependable so I feel it is a necessity. I put 6 new trailer tires on every 5 yrs, without a second thought(though I do get them for like $75 a pc). They don't make 6 yrs without failing so I just replace them before I have change one at 2 am on a road somewhere.

As jacked up as I am, I'm really struggling with doing it myself to save the money. I'm at that point that you have to just say "screw it" and pay da man!

Still remember back 25 yrs ago helping my friend change tires on his truck. Had one we just beaded up with starting fluid, airline was adding air....and BOOM....a big chunk of sidewall come apart. My ears rang for quite a while because I was standing right by it, with my back to it.
They were used tires that his dad had given to him to run.

Truck tires are way easier to mount and dismount than car tires. Sounds dumb, but I think they're way easier. Tubeless ones anyway.
Agree. With one of those new fangled tire bars it looks doable. Just need to borrow friends bead blaster tank.

Are they tubeless ?
Yes. Yokohama's.
I know any tire is a crap shoot. Today even worse then 20 yrs ago.
The 3 yr old tires on my pickup were already showing signs of cracking around the bead area. Luckily they were near replacing anyhow. Granted the Mack stays inside 99% of its life.
-
I'm waiting on my buddy to price them. Wholesale and local pickup.
Biggest scare is what it might do to the nose of my race trailer if it comes apart really bad.

Larry, I hear you. I'm looking to go from bias to radial. The ones I have now (Firestone bias/tubes) date back to the early 90s. Look good, hardly any wear, no cracks or dry rot. Prices I have seen are from $400s all the way up to $700. Of course I need wheels, etc too.
I was $200- tire, $50 painted used rim back in 2001. $1600 for all six mounted up when I bought the truck and changed to radial.
Double that for only 4 tires. Geez o pete.
237 bucking/ very sensitive throttle

I know the throttle is actually sprung wide open and the large return spring returns it back to idle. I know this because the big spring broke one day and awwwwaay I went!!! Until I pulled the shut down.
What exactly are you referring to? The little box on the side that has the linkage arm sticking out?
