  1. Reality is setting in and the crazy dreamers are not asking stupid money anymore. Not all, but most.
  2. If I put mine all back to stock I could get crazy money for it. It only had 70k miles on it, interior was nice because it had vinyl covers on it. You couldn't give them away back in the early 90's. Today is a different story. A friend in PA actually had a clone of mine but needed restored. He started on it but sold it. I give $1800 for mine in 1992.
  3. I just happen to look under the front corner and saw the cab bolt and I grabbed it and it was loose. It was like"Bingo"! Since the throttle comes up through the floor, any time the cab was bouncing going down the road, it was wiggling the throttle even if you were holding the pedal steady.
  4. The name is actually Bisom, not Bison.
  5. Well, I really found my problem. Seems my cab mount bushings were shot. The lower halves were toast and that allowed the bolts to be loose. This allowed the cab to jump around on the frame. This allowing the throttle to be jerked around while driving. I bought some generic GM truck bushings and new bolts and got it all cinched down tight. The 4 hr trip Saturday to my last race was a much more pleasant trip. Much smoother feel since the cab wasn't jiggling around. The throttle is smooth, no more chop chop to it. Life is better.
  6. This was just posted on FB the other day. I saved it.
  7. I bought some generic GM truck cab mounts and was able to reuse the original top pieces. The cab is all nice and tight with the frame again. Good for now.
  8. What is everyone using to replace the cab mount bushings? My fronts are whipped and might look at replacing them this winter.
  9. I saw this at the movies when it came out. I always remember the scene when Helen Shavers(Pickup) stood up and pulled her panties up. Quite a site for a young, impressionable boy!! I have the paperback book(also Convoy) as I like to read it over and over playing the scenes in my head from the movie. Way before VHS, I would record Movin On with my tape recorder so I could replay it again. Never realizing what we would be holding in our hands today(smartphone).
  10. I finally made an Amazon order(I don't that very often) and it included the book. Can't wait to get it.
  11. How much more simplier the times were with cars back then. Friend had a duster with a slant "tick". Friend still has his 68 stepside pickup with 6 banger. His son is finally getting started on the restoration. He has collect up a 413 and cross ram for it. Been talking about it for 40 yrs. 😆
  12. I've been over to Dick's birthday parties back nearly 20 yrs ago but don't recall the truck. Our local ATHS would have a meeting there during his party. Always a great place to visit back then.
  13. Good friend has 74 GTO(nova look alike). Fellow raced or for years, crashed it pretty good, another friend bought it, was never(couldn't)do anything with it. Another friend bought it(bodyman) and restored it. Still races it. Front plate NO NOVA. That group of friends are all Pontiac guys. One has 75(ish) Firebird, stripper deluxe version. Pale yellow with 6 cylinder, 3 on the floor. Real nice survivor. He was never a real racer type so the 6 banger is good for him. He had a lot of cool 60s Pontiacs back in the 80s after college. 65 Bonneville(8 lug wheels), 389, real nice. 66,67 Catalina's, 78 Bird, 72 tempest(called starkys hutch car due to red-white lazer stripe down side). He never could keep anything. Buy, drive, sell. 70 Bonneville wagon with vinyl top!
  14. 36 yrs ago. Still have the blue truck. I was just a young pup! Blue is 69, black truck a 70. Black truck was daily driver for 12 yrs. Rusty ol hulk I kept fixing up. Blue truck was nice southern piece and I was in heaven driving it compared to black truck.
  15. Now the west coast of Fla is going to get hit again this week.
  16. I've run mine out of fuel a couple times(not on purpose) and a few dozen pumps on the primer and away it went.
  17. Bob, No more waiting on the weekend! EVERY day is Saturday!! LTK, I have thought about doing some pancake air bags on my front axle. A fellow did here years ago. I would want new leaf springs because these 70yr old ones would like break if they actually moved. That is what happened with my rear leafs when I first bought the truck and cut them down. They cracked right next to the axle. They did last a few years.
  18. I would remove fuel lines at each point and pressurize tank and see where it stops. Do you have hand prime pump? Does it work? They can be pulled apart and clean check valves. When using the hand pump, it will fill everything and then start returning to the tank. I have had to reprime mine a few times in the last 23 yrs.
  19. I'm at 38 yrs in and can't see another 11!!! I'll struggle for 4 more, if the business is still around.
  20. Congrats Bob! Have a ball on the DM. 👍
  21. Likely won't make the Museum. Gerharts maybe.
  22. When I converted mine to 12v, I used four 12v in parallel. It would spin over in single digit weather and start without ether! Overkill but at the time it sat outside and I wanted it dependable. Once the batteries needed to be replaced it only got two because it sits inside now. With air start, not sure I will need to replace those two batteries? They only need to start my Onan and two are overkill for that.
  23. I "may" make it to Gerharts this year?
  24. I have pictures showing the whole floor cut out in 2002. It is solid now, but the under structure that ties into the fenders and rocker panels is gone and not much to weld to. Thus I built this first brace. The passenger side is still okay. Everyone wonders why I want a new cab, yup, this is why. Or take this one off and totally rebuild the underside after sandblasting it.
  25. Did a little fabricating last night. Made another bracket to tie the existing one into the cab mount bracket. It should support enough to keep everything tight for now. Looks like a winter project to get the fenders off and do some repair? I know the front cab bushings are worn and the cab bolts are actually loose.
