  1. Welcome back. I've always enjoyed reading your posts here and on Hank's.
  2. Thanks for the ride. The view looked as if there was a bulldog sitting at the other end of my dining room table.
  3. I share the same feelings on the subject with the person who designed the T-shirt above, but I'm not buying the idea that this tragedy could have been prevented if God were still allowed in schools. Remember we're talking about a sick twisted individual and the motive is still unclear.
  4. If needed, I have some extra icing on hand.......
  5. ...............................................................................................................................................................
  6. I hope you realize your are now obligated to follow-up on your threat to post a months worth of postcards!
  7. I accidently dropped half of my rueben sandwich on the the floor while I was driving one summer day it but since it wasn't my car, I just kicked it under the seat. It had the cloth interior however.
  8. I think they may have offered both styles for a few years.
  9. Yeah, the good stuff. My Uncle was a originally Piel's drinker, but I think they went out of business and that's what drove him to No Frills. It's sad that he had to resort to store brand beer after drinking top shelf all those years.
  10. Yep. It wasn't long ago that word would appear only in history books for the most part. Too bad it didn't stay there.
  11. There are quite a few curves in the above pics that I'd like to see in person. I've always liked taking the back road.
  12. Nice fleet. Enterprise gave me an HHR identical to yours when my wife's car was in the body shop. I wasn't all that thrilled at first but I liked the way it drove and it kinda grew on me after a few days. I hate you.
  13. Happy Birthday!
  14. Well, you do own about half of them.
  15. The driver's side mirror bracket appears to be original and undamaged also. This is a good indicator that the truck spent it's entire lifespan with the rubber side down. I'm thinking it was driven by a professional racer and only made left turns.
  16. Very nice, round headlights too! What year?
  17. Do you remember a brand of oil called Fox Head? Not Wolf's Head, I remember that. One of my Uncles, a devout cheapskate and Rambler owner, used to use some off brand that was used by those who's choice of motor oil was driven solely by price and I'm pretty sure that was the name. This is the same Uncle that used to drink PathMark's "no frills" beer. It came in plain white cans with BEER in bold black letters on it. I think it was selling for 99 cents a six-pack in the late 1970's. Good stuff.
  18. Morgan Freeman's personal life aside, I think he hit the nail on the head with that statement. The Columbine, Virginia Tech, and Newtown shootings (amongst others) were pre-meditated and in the sick minds of indviduals responsible, the only way to achieve notoriety is by out-doing the last guy. To blame guns and the so-called lack of gun control is ignorant, it's much more complicated than that.
  19. That was a great find and it's good to see it in the hands of someone who will both work it and take good care of it. I want you to know that I almost never had any doubts about you owning this this truck. A true whack job would take that as a compliment. BTW, that was very kind of you to say.
  20. I don't think that 3rd girl wasn't trying to trick you. Judging by the tracks in the mud and her foreign license plate, I'd say she was probably texting for directions and took her eyes off the road which caused her drift. The hood is up to block the direct sunlight which would make her tan uneven. That Transtar used to be parked along side a GMC Astro on Business 422, about a mile west of I-376.
  21. That's awesome. I wouldn't recommend trying that with any of today's engines. The Impala was my first car. I didn't even have a license yet but my neighbor was selling it cheap on an impulse and I happened to be at the right place at the right time. He had gotten into it to drive somewhere and when he turned the key, nothing happened. He opened the hood and realized othat some compassionate criminal took the time to properly disconnect the battery before stealing it. He got all pissed off and slammed the hood down. He then looked across the street and saw me mowing the lawn and started yellinng something at me. He was asking if I wanted his car so i asked how much and he said $100. I quickly ran inside was able to scrape together about $72. I didn't want to borrow from my Dad because I had to "act now" and didn't have time to listen to a lecture that would without a doubt begin with the words "Now wait just a minute..." I ran across the street with my $72 and handed it to the neighbor with a promise to pay the balance as soon as I got my next paycheck. He said "forget the rest, just get it the hell outta here". Still not wanting my Dad to find out I asked if he could help me push it across the street. He reluctantly obliged. Within minutes of cashing my next check I was hammer down (still without license) to the local R&S Strauss store to get points and plugs and some Chevy orange paint (Dad had already bought me a battery . ) The car ran fine but it was mine and I was going to work on it. I took off the valve cover to paint it and could not believe that this engine was able to run. The entire valve train and the inside of the valve cover were encrusted with 93,000 miles worth of sludge. The next time I saw my neighbor I asked him if he'd ever had the oil changed to which he proudly replied "yeah, 3 or 4 times in fact".
  22. I believe those are spares, #1 is always live and #2 is only hot with the key in the on or acc position.
  23. Good to see another (hopefully ongoing) thread showing the Macks of a major city. Those are some sharp trucks, especially those in the "Storkfleet". "U models" and "Windy City". Sounds like an accident waiting to happen.
  24. I used to deliver to the 84 Lumber in Columbia Station. It was always cold and windy in that yard, even in August.
  25. We're hawked. Hoboken and Weehawken have become quite upscale in recent years and Kearney....is still Kearney. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before luxury condo's are built on the site of Rube's truck stop.
