  6. In the big 6061 and 5960 models we used ATF,15-40,hydraulic fluid,and didn't have any problems with either of the oils.this was in west coast of canada logging trucks.100 tons plus loads.
  7. not sure on it but check with the other guys to see if the chrome stripe down the shudders is the same as the hood hinge .I never looked at one real close but maybe.
  8. I put a LTL-, B 73 L cab style back in so I could use Stewart and Wernar gauges.same fit.post on my gallery.
  9. the dash is a easy removeal.take off windshield molding screws-then are 4 1/4 inch bolts.two on each end 7/16 socket and spanner,and the steering colum bracket.this is after you've disconnected all the gauges-oil,water,air,speedometer,amps and fuel.it only took me about a couple of hrs and I didn't know what I was up against.

  11. part numbers for hood hinge brackets are:73RU11842P1-- 73RU11843P1--73RU11842P3.they are also used on the DM models.Same hinge stripe on them all rite back to EQs,LJs.Let me know if you can get them back there.
  12. there are two lenghts of the park lite and I presume yours is the short one.also there are two types of lenses show picture of other side lens.the hood hold down brackets for the hood stripe are avalable from mack. same as whats used on rd steel hoods.head lite ring are easy to find at swap meets.I would put one mirror on the drivers side and use the old fashion (ones that came with truck)arm style.

  15. was in the 40s and 50s.my LJSWX has 9.02s.top speed with Tr 720 and B/L 3041 L which was a direct in 3rd was 40 mph.11:00x22 tires.All the LMSW Ls logging trucks were 9.02s.pack around 60 to 70 tons and quite a bit of adverse.

My Mack EQSW log truck had one in it when I bought it and was a dam good egine.was the 160 hp model.5 speed clark trans and 9.02 ratio rears.lots of them out here years ago s/a pulling 35 ft trailers up 5 miles of 8-10% grade.Still have carb of it but gave engine to a guy in the interior of BC for spare.Nice find.
  18. I've seen a lot of L model fire trucks with the E type front fenders.could anybody elaberdate on them and why they were used instade of the normal L type?

  20. the old one at fire station is a 40's model.you can tell by the stripes on the hood and no vent windows also MACK scripe on hood is flat metal.in 1950 they put the dog on the side curtains as well as the raised Mack scriped sign and put vent windows in the doors.this was all done because of there 50th anniversary.

  22. yarnall: is that what they use to call open cabs.chassis number is LTLT1D 1121.Hall-SCOTT powered.Big 1090 cid.hp is anybody's quess seeing it's a fire truck.My picture is when it was yellow and numbered E23
  23. smfirehistory: some where in calif. there is a LTL open cab fire truck.do you know anything about it.only one made and was a fire truck yellow not Mack yellow
